All great points! Really thorough & detailed. I think the hits one for me the most is crucial it's a mistake that should only be used if it meets all criteria you should think about! & obviously to keep going is crucial you can easily lose heart early & patience but you can turn it around with some consistent planning

My biggest issue is overthinking. Last season however I did really well when I didn't sweat things so much. Also by having bench fodder players instead of 4 really good bench options I took a lot of decisions out of my hands that would usually cause me to overthink.

Hi Andy, this is an absolutely excellent video. As you asked for ideas, the one hint I would add to all of this is to try and control your emotions. Try to avoid hugely emotional decisions after a setback. And maybe one other mistake I feel I always make is to fall into the trap of giving too much weight to double or blank game weeks. Obviously you need to plan for them but for example you don't need 11 average plaayers for a DGW - just those likely to play twice and get you returns.

Liverpool supporter here. Loved all these points, and I've been prone to making some of these mistakes over the years, especially the early transfers. The one thing I would not change however is my policy of not picking any Everton or Man Utd players. It was an easy decision in the last 2-3 years anyways. I mostly play for bragging rights within my mini-leagues and I would not be able to look me mates in the eye if I were to breach my transfer policy in order to win. Lots of respect to the Everton prick for winning FPL without picking a Liverpool player.

Congrats on the monster score Andy, you're smashing it this year, well deserved after your hack incident last season. Would love to understand your thoughts on team/squad structure and how you plan your transfers e.g. how far ahead do you plan your moves or are you quite short-term reactive? I think one of my big downfalls has been to try and always play in a similar style when really fpl is so fluid as players form and fixture runs and values are constantly changing so the best team in one week could look quite different a few gameweeks later. Could you comment on this or do a vide on it similar to your other ones you do on top tips for a successful fpl season?

Hahah, number 10 rocks. My favorite mistake last season was "Taking too many hits" But actually this way my team gained some value, then I stopped doing it, so at the end it was ok, but really I realized it is a mistake myself. A mistake that I think has been omitted is "Chasing the previous week points" A lot of people look at the top performers of the previous week and buy them, but next week they will not perform great. Better is to be pro-active than reactive. Unfortunately, sometimes the price market forces you to buy the player, because otherwise you will not be able to afford it later on.

Haha nice thumbnail Andy. My advice would be to not worry about taking hits. I won my mini league last year (flex) but I took the most minus 4s out of everyone too. If you’re pretty sure a player isn’t going to get points, get em out and take the risk imo. Not too many obviously, I took about -24 in hits over the entire last season.

Last season was my first ever fpl season and whilst trying to captain mané on game week 1 I accidentally triple captained him and he got 1 tripled to 3 Later in the season Liverpool had a double game week where I captained Salah and he got 16 doubled to 32 which was great but had I still had my triple captain I would've definitely used it for an extra 16 points OUCH! Leave 0.5 in the bank for GW1, it made a big difference to my start last season, gives you flexibility, especially with a couple of blanks in GW1.

Mistakes for new players incluede Don't miss the deadline now 1.5 hours before kick-off & some Fri pm /Early Sat starts. Don't take wild punts on players with no form or decent fixtures . Chasing last weeks points - decide if a players form will continue or was it a one-off

Firminho is a good example of a great player that facilitates for other attackers/midfielders, often assists the assister. He seldom scores goals also. A great team player that helps the team but im fpl terms he is crap ;) , expensive and gets few points.

A mistake is not looking at why a particular player has stopped scoring eg Redmond getting injured and Ings taking over the role as creator. However, David who you had on your show last week talked about Liverpools defence being poor since restart without mentioning Henderson was injured which seems to affect the whole team and that Trent and Robbo were being rotated heavily(plus the fact that they were already champions) he seemed of the impression that they'd all of a sudden just turned into a poor defence and for that reason was putting people off doubling up on a Lpool defence which might not be a bad thing at all?

In reference to point 8 (as a liverpool fan) I've always been reluctant to bring in Man utd players because at the end of the day I just play FPL to have fun.
