Here's one you missed. This was John Cena's first WrestleMania match where a title wasn't on the line Cena made his WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 20, taking the US Title from Big Show. From there, Cena would go on a WrestleMania World Title frenzy. At WrestleMania 21 he would win the WWE Championship from JBL. He would retain said title at WrestleManias 22 and 23 against Triple H and Shawn Michaels respectively. WrestleManias 24 and 25 he would find himself in Triple Threat matches, 24 against Randy Orton and Triple H for the WWE Title which Orton would win, and 25 against Edge and Big Show for the World Heavyweight Title which Cena would win. At WrestleMania 26 he won the WWE Championship from Big Dave, and at WrestleMania 27 he would face The Miz for the WWE Championship which would be the catalyst for this, the first ever WrestleMania match for Cena where there was no gold on the line.

Vince saw Bryan as an annoying little wimp who always got by through the skin of his teeth, and he thought people would love it when his latest Superman project at the time, Sheamus, killed him instantly. And to be fair, a lot of them DID pop for it. But basically it was all the story Vince was trying to tell, b/c actual wrestling doesn't actually mean shit to him.
