I still enjoyed 1995, even though it was a poor year. I’ll damn sure take WWF, WCW, and ECW in 1995 over wrestling in recent years. In recent years, WWE’s ratings and attendances declined to the lowest ever, on average. Making some shows worse than than 1995. But WWE just found other ways to still report profit and not care about the quality of the shows. I’d just take 1995 point blank over any year in recent history. It was a better time.

I remember this being the first ever televised event in Pittsburgh. I was in the building for it. I loved the ladder match. One other fact about the show that helped the live attendance gate was a "special deal" that was offered to subscribers of WWF Magazine that lived in Pittsburgh, 3 months prior to the show and before the general public on sale day for tickets, WWF Magazine subscribers could order tickets at a discounted price. my mom took advantage of this and got 3 tickets at 30 bucks a piece in section A12 at the igloo, which was in the lowest level, and for a hockey setup would be right on the blue line, what that would mean for wrestling is that since the ring is right at what would be center ice, a damn good view. As a kid i was so pumped for the show, as an adult looking back, yeah it was trash, but at least i also got to go to King of the Ring 98 in the igloo and got to see the Hell in a Cell match

I guess that PPV could really be considered the End Of An Era. The Monday Night Wars started pretty much right afterwards and a lot of things started to change, so much so that within a year the NWO was founded in WCW and we witnessed the arrival of Mankind to the WWF and the Austin 3:16 shortly after. The MNW period and what could be condidered its epilogue in WWF, the Invasion and NWO reunion angles, was incredibly successful and one of the most interesting times in pro wrestling history,.

It's interesting to note that while wrestling in both WWE and WCW was a big pile of shit in 1995, japanese promotion AJPW, then the biggest rival to NJPW, had one of if not the greatest year of its existance, at least in terms of match quality, including the greatest TagTeam match of all time. Also I think this Summerslam gets more heat than it deserves, simply because it had a shitty main event. HBK vs Razor was brilliant, the mid and undercard was decent and Bret even managed to get an ok match out of Kane. Compared to most other PPVs from both WWF and WCW that year, this wasn't such a bad event.
