One of my favorite feelings they didn't cover is called "Kenopsia". It's this forlorn, but peacefully quiet feeling of being in a place that was meant to be inhabited, but you're all alone. An empty lecture hall in college, a vacant train car, an empty office building floor. The feeling of being the only person in a place that, for now, is quiet. Privacy and solitude in a place more sprawling than your room.

I don't want to sound like some young, immature kid but I get this feeling playing Fortnite and landing at this place called "The Authority". It was a spy-location last season and was jam-packed. This season, the spies just packed up and left and nobody drops there anymore. But I also got this feeling when I went to school and practically nobody was in the building.

I love experiencing that sensation at a movie theater. That's why I arrive 30 minutes early before showtime starts. Silence at a movie theater is very relaxing. Depending on the theater though. Certain theaters I go to has that pre showing commercial display going on. I'm not a fan of it -_-

1. Heimweh (Mix of homesickness and nostalgia) 2. Liminal (A feeling of being in some sort of border or crossing, such as being in the airport for longer than expected.) 3. Sonder (Realization of peers around you having a life of their own) 4. Chrysalism (Comfort or quietness when there's rain or thunder) 5. Liberosis (The desire to feel chill and loosen up a little.) 6. Kairosclerosis (When you want a happy moment to last forever) 7. Vellichor (Strange blissfulness when you're in a bookstore) 8. Gnossienne (Realization that someone you thought you knew very well, might not know very well after all) 9. Mimeomia (Annoyance of fitting into a stereotypical image) 10. Anemoia (You experience a time of nostalgia for a time you've never known, such as a childhood song.)

"Heimweh" is such a basic thing here in Germany that I never questioned it or thought about. Btw it is only homesickness. Often children in summer camp got it. But it also covers the feeling you got when you wish you never moved from the flat or house you grew up. But we got a special word: "Heimat". It is your home but it can be your country, your home town, the street you grew up in or the flat/house you grew up in - and sometimes it is a special person. That's why it covers the little nostalgia when you think about the place you grew up. But "Heimweh" ist homesickness - we just have a special feeling for whst is home to us :) Greetings from Germany!

As a seemingly Alexithymic person, I come here a lot to help with my understanding of other people. I can't relate to any of these emotions shown here, or many "normal" ones. Even if I do feel emotions on rare occasions, it's always difficult, strange, or even downright painful to try and describe anything involving my emotions to a "normal" person. I hate the idea of emotions, and barely feel them anymore, but everyone I tell this to is saddened, confused, and concerned for me, when I never understand why. I'm just here to understand everyone else in the tiniest ways I can if that makes sense?

When my daughter got 6 she didn't have any birthday wishes but one piece of clothing. I kept asking, no wishes. Found that so cute that I also gave her a gift certificate for one daddy day where only the two of us would do for a whole day whatever she wants. Months later on a Saturday morning we've been cuddling in my bed when she suddenly said "for the daddy day I wish we go to " - "of course, when shall we go there?" - "today?" So we left her brothers to my wife, drove a few hours by train to that park and had the best day ever. Fun part: we spent more time on the play ground in the park than anywhere else. About that day I feel so kairosclerosic that I got tears in my eyes while writing and remembering that. 🤗

Well, Anemoia has been one of them. There are specific songs out there that when I listen to them I feel like I’m transported into a new time. Having synesthesia makes it even more magical, because you see specific colors and images with the song. It’s really fun to just sit and listen to old music and let your brain just go wild :D. There are also sonder and Gnossiene, which I would say are more negative feelings though. But it’s fun to finally know the names of these feelings.

The emotions I feel most often out of these are Sonder and Kairosclerosis. Just today I looked at the passenger in the car next to me and wondered, “what have their eyes seen? what emotions have they felt? I hope their life is going well.” I like to look at passing cars or crowds of people walking by and wonder what they have learned throughout their years of life. I especially feel Kairosclerosis a lot. The concept of time constantly moving forward tends to freak me out sometimes, and to try and conquer the lingering feelings of anxiety and loneliness I experience, I try to embrace every happy moment I have with those I love. Every laugh, every hug, every smile. I have a lot of comforting memories that I like to reflect and look back on whenever I need some cheering up. Anyways that’s my ramble on emotions, have a great day everyone and go drink some water!💕

Perhaps it's the same for me! Since I was a toddler, I've always felt or experienced sonder and anemoia together, especially when looking at houses, schools, and people. Sometimes it's annoying, as it also ran on stereotypes. Other times, it would evoke questions about what made life feel like actual life. Like I should never see the world mundanely--and always scientifically, if that makes sense.

Kairosclerosis is something I can't stop feeling anymore. There aren't many happy moments right now. Not that there are many sad ones but everything has felt very still, slow, repetitive and numb lately so every moment I'm dying of laughter or I get a smile on my face I can't help but feel kairosclerosis. I want time to freeze there because those moments don't seem to last anymore. In a way its both an amazing feeling of mindfulness to let yourself be present and savor the moment but its also so sad to think you can't freeze time there. You can't feel that amazing and happy EVERY moment of your life. I guess in a way its a good thing because those moments wouldn't be as special if life was always happy. We have to have the lows to feel and appreciate those highs.

How do you call it when you hear a sound like music you like, or a little bit of water running down and you close your eyes and imagine some happy or calm place for yourself or a person you love with you?

I’ve been feeling a LOT of anemoia lately. Maybe it’s my imperfect present or anxiety about the future, but... I find it hard to feel grateful because of the times I live in now.

That's why being multilingual is so amazing. Not just for the sake of knowing languages but because learning different languages, you expand your knowledge, your perception, your own feelings which you couldn't know until learning them!

kodiak i have no idea what they said but i just wanted to say that responding saying “who asked” is rude. i know you obviously didn’t ask and probably don’t care but doesn’t mean you have to say that. just ignore the comment and move on bc for some people it can really hurt their feelings.

I remember getting anemoia from a very specific remix of a Beethoven song, and I had a REALLY tough time trying to describe this feeling to people. It felt like I got transported and enlightened all at once, and now I'm at peace with knowing the word for what this feeling is called.

Hello! This vid is nice. Thank you for making it! I was wondering if, can you make a part 2 some day? And if ever possible, research for more words, not just European-centric words? Just to widen the scope of things. 💕 (I admit, I was lowkey expecting "kilig" because everybody feels that, hehe.) Anyways, thank you again! Love sharing your vids to my friends and family. You mean a lot to me, Psych2Go! Take care over there!
