I watched this movie the same day it came out, I kept thinking about it everyday and I still do, I come back here every time I don’t know what I’m doing, so it can help me and remind me of what I’m capable of doing, achieving and making! I have many hobbies, that I can’t keep up with, and when people ask me who am I, I find difficulties explaining what am I, who where or when I am myself, a writer? No a poet, well actually I can sing, dance, and bake, cook, crochet… hold on, I can also make jewelry, draw and design, etc… so many things, and saying my name is not sufficient for me, my name doesn’t define who I am… and the impact this movie left on me is unimaginable! I think it's a heartwarming story! Sometimes, people find encouragement from others unexpectedly, and later, they return that luck. It's touching. As for the contents in the box, I believe the red items symbolize inspiration, passion, and love. The man used to feel lonely because after he became famous, he lost the genuine connections with people and started to doubt hinself. However, when he met the girl, he discovered the true meaning of writing and was no longer confused. It's amazing how luck transferred through love.

I think the little red colored fairy dust shimmering from the empty box in the end indicates that the man can find inspiration from the things around him, even the most mundane ones. Throughout the animation, everything is in black and white except for the color red splattered in different objects and persons. The man was suffering in writer's block and possibly even depression and generally loss of meaning and purpose in life. The moral of the story is there is no great unknown or no great surprise that we need to constantly find in order to be happy. We just have to look for the magic even in the most ordinary things and continue our journey one step at a time. 😊

It's telling me that when you feel empty, there comes people and scenarios that will give you inspirations. They will give you the motivation to get back up. But it's up to you on how you will make use of it. The box stands as your drive. What follows that is action. Action that's done as a result of your newly found motivation. It also tells me that when you are in the middle of your own crisis, trust the process. Have trust that it will pass and you will get back at your own feet. She helped the writer with existensial crisist and also helped him with the writer block. She told the writer about how much he inspired and helped her with his book, and also gave him idea to write by delivering the empty box (imo he started writing some kind of mystery box story as you can see from the moodboard he created and how he used the logo from the empty box for the story)

I think his head was actually too full of success from the past to live in the present, or imagine the future, so to empty his head would actually be a step forward to making room for new things. I'm only saying this because I've been stuck on the fact that I earned a certain degree, and and thought that my life had to revolve around that point in my life. I think the empty box means he needs to let go of what he's got at this moment (fame, money, everything outside of himself) to actually find his true self again, just like when he started writing. He needs to empty the box he has filled to see who he really is at the bottom of the box. And that's when he gets all his inspiration back. By the way, great and meaningful animation! But not many of them are. Some work jobs that make a person feel like that's all there is to life. And they may die never finding themselves, and knowing who they really are. They feel like they'll never find and reach their dreams because they never had a chance to! Some people struggle finding a job that's not just paying enough, and giving them enough hours to matter with the amount they're making. But something they end up getting stuck in to makes ends meat, nowadays, that is. And they STILL haven't found themselves. There's just so many scenarios where many people are down and depressed because they just want to either find themselves, or get back in touch with themselves again. But they see and feel the world around them kicking them down time after time. No matter what they do and try to do. And it seems there's no end to the madness in sight! We need to ALL be picking one another up. Stand side-by-side together as one. We are human beings, after all. And many need to start acting like that again. And with compassion and mutual understanding!

I got asked this question yesterday. I had no idea how to answer it. I felt like a jack of all trades... more like a blunder of all trades. I’ve started and stopped at so many things. And I don’t write as good as I used to. I have six trophies and 35 medals but I feel like I haven’t done anything worthwhile. This animation teaches me that who I am is not defined by any of my achievements. Because, you can achieve it all but still feel as empty as the box in the end. What matters most is the memories we make and the people we love and have been loved by. It’s beautiful to think that the next someone asks me who I am, I will tell them I am loved.

I saw this video maybe an year ago. And it kept popping up on my youtube feed recently, i used to ignore as i had already watched it. But, today i watched it again and it gave me a hope, my lost confidence back, as i was really sad about being rejected a modeling assignment with a big brand after everything was set and it was the last bit. I get really upset and even depressed when I lose sight of my purpose in life- as a student it always revolved around my academics and how much love I could spread around me. But now, with so much stress and pressure, I’m turning into someone with hatred and bitterness. I cry every now and then thinking about how much I’ve changed over the years. I might be overreacting. It’s just growing up but still I wish I could feel as genuine and earnest for the people around me as before. Now I’m not emotionally available for most people. The film made me realise meanings and values people hold is in different things. I used to work with elderly people, some at the very end of their lives. What I learned is all of us will die and most of use will be forgotten, except for that 0.0000001% that is remembered through history (e.g. Aristotle, Confucius, King Tut, Jane Austen). Even if you are super-rich, beautiful, intelligent, famous today, who will remember you 100 years from now? Can you name who was the most beautiful actress in the US in 1920? Or the richest man? Even your grandkids or great-grandkids will hardly remember you. Hence, the struggle to become famous/ well-known/ rich, etc. isn't really worth it in many ways. And yet people sacrifice a lot for those goals.

This short film has been my friend since I came to Canada from Japan:) I didn't have any friends when I just arrived here, which was 1 year ago, and I didn't speak English well either. I was literally feeling alone and crying every night at that time. But I found this movie one day, and I was attracted to the story, animation, and the voices of the characters. I still don't know how to describe the reason why I'm so attracted to them. But this movie always encourages me a lot in my new life and keeps giving me some motivation for challenging new things. So I don't remember how many times this film saved me in the past year. I am Ecaterina, 26 years old, I live in Austria, but I am from Romania, I miss home, my grandma and my time wandering around in the wild. I have PTSD and depression, but healing every day by being compassionate and at peace with myself. My biggest dream is to have my own garden, a horse, 2 dogs, a cat, a library in my attic, and be able to live sustenaibly, honour life, respect nature and be part of a small community that shares the same values. I love to read, move and think about how I can be a better person for myself, the adult that I needed when I was a child. Trying to see things in perspective is the best gift that I could offer myself because I can be grateful for the smallest things. Be kind to yourself and enjoy life, you are your most precious gift.
