This is some good information. I always thought the fire duration bonus was due to being indoors or outdoors, and your fire skill. I didn't know it was linked to the temperature.

Very important fact you said that this campfire - wildlife mechanic works since zone of contamination update because before that moose, bears and aurora wolves were not afraid from campfires and still charge at you.

Yup, and aurora wildlife ignored it, if you saw some earlier videos about wolves they behaved differently. It could be a bug though and might change again in the future

another trick, you can use a fire to preserve meat raw or cooked but you can place it on a cooking slot only if its raw. It decay slower than the meat on the ground. I figure it out in my last loper longrun when i was returning to hunt a bear again after the 50 day respawn time i found cooked bear meat on fire above 0% and all other was ruined so i believe it decay 50% slower and probably it works with all meat type

#5 @ 3:50 Is what I'm using right now, getting stranded in an Ash Valley transitional cave for the night due to the blizzard outside. The warmth from a torch is just enough to stay above freezing there, given that I just spawned into the region and have almost nothing.

If the fire starting skill is 5 and you can get 100% the loading screen of starting the fire prevents animals attacking you. Many a moose and bear have had to wait their turn to get shot point blank.

I cant get the moose walk tip at the end to work, seems they fixed it? after the first fire stops the moose, no matter how far I walk away from the fire before the second charge it still ignores the fire completely.
@Bashrobe21 күн бұрын
Still works for me, were your campfires lit? Starting a campfire won't protect you from a charging moose (you might make it in time with accelerant).
@Defiler0x21 күн бұрын
@Bashrobe I must be doing it wrong, I had 3 campfires spaced out, would aggro the moose and run to the first fire. Moose pauses, then I move away from that first fire, aggro moose.. moose charges, run to second fire, moose doesn't give a F about the second fire lol

8:48 - In FA airport shed when the gust wind hit take more than 10 minutes to chance direction, so the campfire die.
@Bashrobe3 ай бұрын
You're right, FA wind is weird, it's a similar case to SP. The wind there is not the same across the region. Except in SP even in lower wind areas the trick won't work as reliably, just like the other 4 regions. In FA, it will not work in the open area (which is most of the region really). It should still be usable around Junkers Paddock, Mindful Cabin, Justy's Hovel, or any caves on the edges, as the wind there should be normal like most regions.

You repeatedly mention the previous video. And which one exactly? Can I have a link or a title, please? And yes, thanks for the video, something was useful for me. For example, I didn't know that the temperature at which the bonfire time bonus is set depends on the temperature around the character.

It should pop up and be linked in the description, but maybe it doesn't show properly on all devices. It's the previous one 50 days on misery, the Frigid Bones section specifically is all about staying warm.

+1 i didnt knew half of that tricks. Firetime bonus can make your fire last twice the most and in late game in interloper you get the most if you are outside even if the fire is in the inside part of a cave. it doent work in buildings even without a loading screen, a fire inside just last normal time where ever you are
@ArchimedesLP3 ай бұрын
It absolutely does work in buildings without a loading screen. For example a fire burning in the fireplace at Mountaineer's Hut will last longer while you are outside the hut(provided of course that it's cold enough for the bonus to apply.) You can even set your bedroll up behind the hut to sleep in warmth range while getting the longer burn time, compared to sleeping inside.
@Bashrobe3 ай бұрын
@@ArchimedesLP Exactly, sleeping behind the hut is a fun way to extend the fuel duration and I used it on misery a bit, though the wolves in the area make me a little nervous, I probably need to build caches/travois behind to make it truly safe. Bricklayers is another great one.

@konstantinoskountousias30993 ай бұрын
with lvl5 firestarting so its possible to stay warm in a cave of a fishing hut for a night during blizard with just 10 sticks for fuel, light a fire and put all sticks in then extract as mutch torches as fast as possible, when the embers die you ll get the warmth from torches, harvest the dead ones when they go out and just keep the last one to start the fire again without using a match and repeat...
