I feel like the wool mittens deserve an honorary mention for having only a half of a degree lower warmth bonus than the tactical gloves, but weighing only a fraction of their weight. They have the best weight to warmth ratio of all of the gloves.
@pickleplayer3313 күн бұрын
Yea I think the wool mittens are hugely underrated. They have the highest warmth to weight ratio by a mile, and if all the rest of my clothes are plenty warm, I'm really not going to miss that extra degree of insulation when I could carry more gear instead

Generally speaking for interloper the best clothing you can possibly wear is: (Two bear skin coats) (two thin wool sweaters) for hats wear (rabbit hat or possibly get the cougar hide wrap) and a (expedition balaclava) for pants (one combat pants and deer pants) and for socks (both pairs of wool socks) and try to find (two thermal underwear)
@HeavyMettaloid13 күн бұрын
The issue with the tactical balaclava and protection bonus is that it can only be worn on the inner slot and unless you wear nothing on the outer it won't provide protection.

Yay! I’ve been looking for an up to date video about this. I’m used to being over encumbered so I always prioritize warmth over weight. This technical breakdown is exactly what I’ve needed but at the same time there’s another factor to consider- how much of a pain in the ass is it to get/make. I can fully acknowledge the Cowichan sweater is the best in the game but I pretty much always end up with the fisherman’s sweater cause it’s more easily accessible. Same goes for the tactical vest, would love that protection bonus but that means I’d have to go back to Blackrock 😂

Great video, although I miss honourable mention of wool mittens and generally discussion around optimising clothing for weight. I’ve found that aside from loper I often want to have clothing that is less warm/protective but frees up carry weight, because the weight of clothing can be very considerable. There’s a ton of nuance when it comes to clothing in this game. People who explained the frozen clothing frostbite in the comments solved a mistery of this misfortune happening to me, you should definitely mention that in a future video!

Interloper best gear: Cougar wrap, technical balaclava, Bear Coat, Ski Jacket (inner), Thin wool sweater x2, tactical gloves, combat pants (inner), wolf skin pants, thermal underwear x2, wool socks x2, deer boots, moose hide satchel or improvised insulation based on if you need extra weight or not. And finally, the ballistic vest. Optimal balance of warmth protection, protection, and sprint.
@simonnachreiner838012 күн бұрын
Swap out bearcoat for moose hide. It lets you avoid waterproofing for your torso and is much MUCH lighter. Also swap out the ski jacket for the macnaw you can get a guaranteed spawn from the trader. His quest is infinitely harder without the unique bunkers but still worth it for his extended inventory.
@BabalabasCreep112 күн бұрын
@ Bearcoat provides adequate water proofing and a better warmth to weight ratio so I wouldn’t go moose cloak but it’s a fine alternative. Mackinaw has a worse warmth to weight ratio than ski but slower decay, so that is also a fine alternative. There are small adjustments you can make but what is key is building around the ballistic vest as the protection bonus it gives is unmatched.
@stephannahmed791812 күн бұрын
Ballistic vest is a bad take you spend wayyy too much weight for the benefit unless you are specifically going to hunt big game yes it helps with animal attacks but think about how much more loot you could carry overall without it
@seckino8212 күн бұрын
Actually the best strategy is to wear a moose cloak outside and a bear coat inside.. you get best of the both worlds and the additional weight means nothing on loper settings, provided that you maintain well fed and do have the technical backpack.. Wolfskin pants are absolutely worthless.. you're much better of with a deerskin, which is already as good and doesn't require any of that nonsense the wolf pants do..
@steelfire959713 күн бұрын
Good video. A little more on the simplistic side, but a good basic overview. There's a lot more nuance to it, with the potential for frozen clothes to lead to frostbite. There's also the wolfskin coat's chance to scare off regular wolves (does not affect timberwolves). There's also decay and upkeep to consider. All of it factors into creating a great set for everyday needs. Best in slot for a single attribute is definitely not going to be best for overall survival.
@simsfreak6313 күн бұрын
It would've been wise to mention warmth-to-weight ratio. Lots of players (myself included) will often forgo heavier, warmer clothing options in favor of more weight efficient clothing options so we can carry more loot. "Thin wool sweaters" are what I'm running in the torso slots 100% of the time, for example.

@steelfire959713 күн бұрын
A red flare or a fire. 😆 In all seriousness, keeping them from biting is the best strategy. Beyond that, as to clothing itself, IMO the best bet is to go with a good blend of protection, warmth, and weight. Keep yourself alive, so you have a chance to repair clothing. Hide clothes typically have the highest protection and warmth, but are heaviest. The key with hide clothes is to be sure you'll be able to repair it wherever you travel or can have a back-up clothing item. You don't want to be stuck short a piece of clothing because you decide not to wear it while waiting for hides/guts to cure or have it get ruined while waiting. In my experience, though I haven't seen this documented anywhere so can't guarantee this is actually correct, but it seems like protection factor may also have an effect on damage to it's specific clothing item.
@TheMoffwicket12 күн бұрын
I wish you would have factored in weight more. That's more important than protection I think. Protection tends to come along with warm clothes anyway (aside from exp parka and snow pants).
