Krassz ah, it they are. The vast majority of them, anyway. Their desire to believe the Earth is flat comes from their desire for the Bible to be true. The Bible has been shown to not align with what we know about the world time and time again, so they are trying to fix that (at least for one topic) be "proving" the Earth is flat. The problem is that they cannot prove that which is not true.

1369Stiles CosmicSkeptic I too am a skeptic. I question everything. Religion is derived from astrotheology the worship of the cosmos. I have a question. You say the earth is so big that even at 73 miles high we still wouldnt really see the curvature. Then why is it in Nasa and others videos with ballons and clips like red bull the earth appears to be curved but then is fish eyed? hmm. lol think about whats happening Also I noticed saturn is your symbol. All religion goes back to the cube the 2 equilteral triangles oF SATURN. SATURN is the root to all of what humans knows as religous words and symbolism now either your way smarter than you let on or this is by chance I feel as though you may be a freemason and are working at what degree i dont know I believe the earth to be flat. Why else do the rulers of earth use flat earth maps. When Robert Simmon said "It is photoshopped, but it has to be...", that crucial bit of context our flattard deliberately left out was what he would obviously say after that, is because space telescopes don't have a bayer filter that's just slapped on top of the CCD as used in your typical consumer and professional cameras, but rather robotically swappable colour filters that allows for extremely high scientific quality discrete colour channels in all the frequency bands of interest, not just red, green, and blue, those channels then have to be processed to produce a colour image that's within our visual range (and indeed, wont be dropped by the jpeg codec), and that the intensity doesn't wash out the final image, like say, an image of the Sun.

William Backer the reason u can't see clear across the ocean has nothing to do with earth curve, the atmosphere is filled with gas, the air we breath, eather, water vapor, dust particles, etc...etc...over miles and miles the visibility through air drops to zero, regardless of magnification.

Garett Macera This is insane. For real why do we have sunrises? Not your shrinking sun bullshit. The sun doesn't shrink. Get yourself a piece of dark glass and watch. And why do we have two celestial poles in the sky? That'd be impossible on a flat earth. But of course you won't answer. You guys never answer.
@soloist2001
@soloist2001 7 жыл бұрын
theCoffinSeller not sure about why you've responded in this manner..i simply pointed out to the poster that the reason we cant see hundreds / thousands in one direction along the surface is because atmospheric conditions prevent it, not directly due to the curvature of earth...also since u mention it, i have seen multiple time lapse videos of the sun "getting smaller" at sunset, so u may go argue with other you tube channels on that. u have no idea who I am, and yet u are immediately willing to make a psychological determination about my sanity based on a few sentences.....do u always get this defensive when someone presents an idea that contradicts the dogmatic beliefs that modern science has "figured it all out"? I dont presume to know the answers to all the questions...but I sure as he'll dont just take "their word for it"
@theCoffinSeller
@theCoffinSeller 7 жыл бұрын
Garett Macera You saw videos with a time lapse - I challenge you to get yourself a piece of dark gpass and watch it yourself. The sun does not shrink. You do take everithing for granted because you do not challenge your own contradictory beliefs. Why do we observe two celestial poles? Why do we have sunsets? Challenge yourself!
@soloist2001
@soloist2001 7 жыл бұрын
theCoffinSeller for the sake of your retinas I wouldn't suggest staring at the sun for hours to watch the suns movement if u are simply using some "dark glass"...u need to filter over 99% of the suns light to be safe...welders mask would suffice for a short time...i am certainly willing to test these assumptions myself

@Max Fritze Well it'll depend on which model of flat earth is the correct one (I'm not saying that any of them are right, I'm just answering the question.) 1) If the world is in a dome then it probably means something intelligent put it there. (aliens, god, I dunno.) 2) If the earth is motionless and the universe revolves around it, humans go from being unimportant specs of dust in the cosmos to being super duper important (since everything literally revolves around them.) 3) If there's an infinite stretch of ice past antarctica instead of a dome then maybe there's more "worlds" out there, buried in their own ice holes. qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-c57828dc26b550ee91a3cc9ab42796a9

Funny but as Ello above says their is a ice shelf and a continent called Antarctica which is land holding the get this"SEA LEVEL" . Explain how we are a sphere at 24901 miles and eight inches curved for every mile sqaured but their is absolutely no curve from say cali to florida or anywhere you ask google to calculate. And you cannot observe any curve as well. Builders dont build to the curve either. Gravity is only density and boyancy , simple as that. Don't need seven books of theorys that never add up to tell us this. So the earth spins 1000 miles plus an hours west to east with the atmosphere but a little stupid bee or bug says na , i think ill go against the atmosphere and gravity today to eat. Or clouds going different dirrections at same time. Or a little bird flying when trillions of curved ocean water on a spinning globe upside down is held but the bird says screw you today gravity im flying. Where is the pictures of upside down curved ocean and people and buildings with these ten thousand plus satellites ? Don't you think that would be amazing stuff to see. Or say when they take the moon or earth pictures. Where the heck is all the space junk by the millions and the satalites by the ten thousands. All you see is one CGI SAtelite at a time. It goes on and on and on when you look into it. This isn't counting the fake moon landing, Hitlers scientists starting NASA, all the fake education and indoctrination going on. It gets deep. All of this is too make us dependent on scienctists , exactely like doctors and our f'd up medical crises with sheeple that depend on these guys and trust them are dying by the millions. And people like us that use our brains come up with natural ways to cure cancers and diabetes and tons of other diseases to save our friends and families daily. Wake up sheeeeeeeeeplllllllllle. Please, its too hard fighting Cognitive Dissonance . All we want to do is help people see the truth and that damn near everything they say and do is a lie for money.

Ken Potter may I please ask you to help me answer this question When you go up in a hot air balloon and spend an hour in the air, how far away from the take off point are you likely to be, given the spin of the earth? 🌏 Thank you 👩🏻‍💻 From Virgin Hot Air Balloon Flight How far will we fly? Hot air balloons can’t be steered in the normal sense so they travel on the wind with skilled pilot’s controlling the altitude by heating the air inside the balloon. How far you’ll fly depends on the wind speed. It also depends on how long it takes the pilot to find a suitable landing spot. You could fly a relatively short distance or as far as 20 miles. www.virginballoonflights.co.uk/faq/

+MayIPleaseAskYou "When you go up in a hot air balloon and spend an hour in the air, how far away from the take off point are you likely to be, given the spin of the earth?" The spin of the earth will have almost nothing to do with how far you travel and in which direction. The local weather in your area will have a much bigger effect. The only effect that the spin of the earth has is that the Coriolis effect caused by the earth's spin does cause weather systems to generally move in certain directions at certain latitudes, but the winds in those weather systems, your position relative to them and the relative strengths of those weather systems will have much more effect on your movement. For instance, the Coriolis effect causes high pressure systems in the northern hemisphere to spin clockwise. So, if you are north of the center of the high pressure system, you will probably move east. If you are east of the center, you will probably move south. If you are south of the center, you will probably move west. If you are west of the center, you will probably move north. If you are dead center, you will experience calm winds and won't move too much at all.

Exactly, as an astrophotgrapher the FE model fails massively. Even in the northern hemisphere a German Equatorial mount wouldn't work, but in the southern hemisphere it's ridiculously obvious. Just about everything that happens in the southern hemisphere disproves the disc model, including flight times and directions.

This is actually a pretty common tactic of theirs. There's two kinds of flat-earthers: the ones crapping out tons of content and making money off of it and the ones that buy into their idiocy. The ones making money off of it don't believe it for an instant. I dont think the guy in the referenced video believed a damn thing he was saying. It was just money. The fact that you can't see the bottoms of the skyline just wrecks their entire argument, and if he'd mentioned that its only on certain days with special weather conditions that you can see the skyline *at all*, well, then he'd have been honest, and not gotten nearly as many views.

Mountaindew Genesis 1:1-15 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. Not only does the bible say the world flat, it is in a dome, surrounded by water with only one sea and with sun, moon and stars floating around the underside of the dome. 432thedrop.com/uploads/3/3/8/9/3389030/3570939_orig.jpg

Go to the seashore and watch a sun rise or sunset. What you will see is the sun disappear below the horizon because the Earth is a sphere. If the world was flat what you should see is the sun get smaller an smaller until is vanishes from sight. What you do see is the sun which is still the same size as it sets cut in half as it sinks below the horizon. On a flat Earth this could never happen because the sun could never sink below the horizon as it would always be above the horizon until it reached the vanishing point. You would never see a half of a sun as it sets.

Given it's proposed altitude, the trigonometry concludes that in the southern hemisphere, the sun couldn't possibly sink lower than *12.9 degrees* above the horizon at it's lowest point. In the Arctic circle, the sun couldn't possibly sink lower than a whopping *28.7 degrees* at it's lowest point. It would be midnight sun everywhere- all the time.

Shame on you, gobsnobber muffin. "If only these people were educated in the fields of mathematics, geometry, and physics" would likely yield more benefit than their non-existence. How do you have any way to be sure that they will be flat-earth-belieiving fools while they are still in the womb? I suspect that even the majority of the downs-syndrome-affected population accepts that the world is round because their teachers told them so, possibly hundreds of times. Downs is pre-natally detectable, but I have seen no evidence of pre-natal detectability of flat-eartherism, and would be highly skeptical of any such evidence offered, because flat-eartherism seems to depend more upon memetics than genetics. While they will never be rocket scientists, the folks who deny the spheroid shape of the earth can still be whopper-floppers regardless of their understanding of the shape of the Earth or gravity, because the meat patty will still fall back to the cooking surface whether they believe it should or not. They can still mop the floor. They can still wash your car. They still have utility. They can still enrich our lives. They can still change their minds and become ex-flat-earthers. In the worst-case-scenario, if they're so fatally-gullible, snobs like you can easily defraud them and enrich yourselves (It's okay as long as they're stupid, right? And if they fall for it, they are!). There is no logical excuse for denying them life upon the grounds of disbelief in a spheroid Earth, and I once again suggest that you should be ashamed of yourself for suggesting otherwise. What if I proposed that anyone who lacks empathy for the disadvantaged should be aborted? How would you feel about that? (Hint: this is a reasoning test)

Flat Earthers A flat-earther in the modern day has to ignore the following: Ships coming over the horizon appear mast first. Satellites would not work if the world were flat. GPS (Global Positioning System) would not work if the world were flat. Nobody has ever detected the edge of the world. Photos from space or from the moon show that the earth is spherical. All the other large bodies in space are spherical. All astronomers agree that the earth is a rough sphere. (slightly pear shaped actually) Why then does a flat-earther persist in believing the earth is flat? On a small scale, the earth appears flat. They carefully avoid reading any explanation of why this is so. They imagine Australians would fall off the earth if the earth were a sphere. They carefully avoid reading any explanation of why this does not happen. So basically the problem is a trust in gut intuition that trumps all evidence . Climate Change Deniers are Like Flat Earthers There are two kinds of climate change deniers: professional and fools. The professionals are not at all confused about climate change, however, they disseminate false information about climate change in order to prolong the life of their fossil fuel investments, knowing full well they will ruin the planet in the process. They don’t care. They are elderly. Even though folk like the Koch brothers are billionaires, nothing is more important to them than a few extra points of profit. They are mentally ill planetary traitors, but because they are rich, we don’t incarcerate them. Why then do the fools become climate change deniers? Wishful thinking. Nobody wants to contemplate the end of our planet. Wishful thinking. Nobody wants to divert some of their income to deal with climate change. The propaganda that hooked them was skillfully written to exploit their prejudices and ignorance. Religion teaches people to distrust science. People like the Koch brothers encourage extremely stupid people to think they are smarter that the combined efforts of the world scientists. Such a delusion feels great. The echo chamber and peer pressure. Climate deniers tend to have similar political views, and avoid talking to anyone else. Denying climate change is required for acceptance in the group. They have predecided that all science is corrupt, therefore they must scrupulously avoid reading any least it prove compelling. They are like the clerics who refused to look through Galileo’s telescope.

If you are standing on the shore line and 6ft tall -183cm, eye level is about 5ft 8in -173cm, on the horizon eye level is still 5ft 8in - 173cm. The higher up you go the higher eye level is. Even if we presuppose that God is real and even if we presuppose Christianity was the only one to get it right, we definitely know "the bible" is rife with inaccurate and downright "wrong" statements. First of all, there are practically countless versions of this text, so referring to it as "the bible" is quite useless as different versions not only have different translations, interpretations, outright re-wording and summaries, but different versions also have different collections of scripture inside. Then, once you identify which book, you have to look at which version and in what language.Are we talking New Testament? Old? Which books are to be included? Which gospels? Which scrolls? Let's assume you're using the King James bible edition in English printed for an American audience with editing and a new copyright of sometime in the last 30 years,, as that is the most likely and most common type of bible being discussed by people in your position. It is positively trivial to find incorrect and inaccurate statements within this specific text. We also have the history of how it was made and edited and which strategic changes they made to the texts and for what gain. There are many passages that were altered to suit their specific viewpoints and stances and to help push it onto a larger audience. You can't just say "well it's the word of God and or Jesus, so it can't be wrong." Even if it WAS meant to be his word, you sure as shit are not looking at that one right now and your beliefs are focusing on the nuances of that specific text if you're a fundamentalist rather than the "original" source (again, basically a worthless phrase and concept as there were multiple versions that were varied). If you're a genuine believer AND you still continue to think your views are based on a flawless text, than you should spend more time praying for yourself rather than other people. You're going to need it. PS. Flat Earth aside, let's not even focus on that. Satellites do exist and would exist even if the Earth were flat. It is also trivial to prove that satellites definitely exist. You can try to make up crazy explanations for how they get up there or how they actually travel/behave, but you can't just pretend they don't exist and aren't up there. If you think this can be the case, you just don't know enough about them from a technical standpoint. There are all kinds of hobbies out there that center directly around people's study of satellites and the tools we have to observe, manipulate, and otherwise interact and understand them and their paths. It is easy for them to hide satellites, but it would be harder to fake them at this point than to just really put them up. We have a lot of technology that would not work at all without them and could not be faked by stations located on the Earth.

Is it only me that finds it very annoying that Flat Earthers consistently bring up the Michaelson Morely experiment as an argument, it wasn't an experiment to prove motion around the Sun at all it was to try and prove the existence of the aether... and since the aether doesn't exist of course the experiment failed!

I find some of the logic is so counter intuitive like the fact that South would be every direction even North from any position that isn't centered on the north pole . Or the fact that in vacuum feathers and lead accelerate equally toward center of mass. In fact every time they attempt to refute geniuses that spent a life time learning and explaining natural phenomenon with steampunk style physics and cosmology is just hysterical. I can't begin to understate how humanity is starting a new dark age of fear and repression and the consequence of this thought process . On the other hand I believe that 99% of these channels are for ad revenue and the creators have no belief in a flat earth .

Like most people without a proper education and grasp of scientific method, they use other's works to fuel their arguments, regardless of the validity of the works themselves. The more complex the "argument" is, the more true it will seem to them. To them the Michealson Morley experiment has already a resounding name, which alone is sufficient to disprove the idea of a spinning earth. We are talking about people who can't even understand the foundamental basics of non-euclidean geometry, of course you cannot counter argue showing them what the Michealson and Morley experiment was truly about and what are the actual outcomes. They will just say "The Michealson and Morley experiment already proved that the Earth is not moving" and they think they are done. Because a blog or a KZbin video said that.
@dwaynethomas7984
@dwaynethomas7984 7 жыл бұрын
Samuel what's hilarious, is that you've seen the video/s, of the Chicago skyline, and other points of reference, that shouldn't be seen due to earth curvature. Yet your argument is about someone's knowledge of algebraic expressions, formulas ,and geometry! totally ignoring what your eyes just saw! You can't explain, why if you use binoculars, or a telescope, you can bring those boats right back into your visual sight line! ignore that too! and the Michelson Morley experiment may not have been intended to prove the motion of the earth, and expose that light travels thru an aether. But out doesn't mean, that it didn't expose a motionless earth in the process!
@Darkmoon8200
@Darkmoon8200 7 жыл бұрын
No, it means exactly that it didn't expose a "motionless Earth". It was a great experiment, but based upon a wrong assumption. Unlike what was thought, the light does not need a medium to travel through. No ether means no galilean composition of the speed of light regardless its direction, and no "ether wind" caused by the motion of earth influencing the detection of the speed of light. In other words, the speed of light has nothing to do with the speed of the Earth.

@jenbill
@jenbill 7 жыл бұрын
Goodall72 GPS is not As someone who has worked in GPS and space geodesy my entire life GPS Satalites are not dependent on cellular mast. GPS is microwave L band, signals don't go through buildings, hence why people don't use it indoors. And you need to track 4 satellites for a position solution. So you'd need MILLIONS of masts to even get close to the coverage provided by 24 satellites 12500 miles up. GPS works globally, so you'd need masts in the Arctic, Antarctic, in Siberia, deepest darkest Africa, its just silly, they would be everywhere. The problem is compounded even more because commonly receivers track 10 or more satellites, so every position on earth would need line of sight to 10 masts. A last sucker punch comes from the fact that GPS is one GNSS system, of which there are a few (Galileo, Glonass, Beidou, Compass...), they would all need their own masts. Interesting enough, masts are sometimes used as 'fake' satellites to augment GPS when coverage is poor. They are called pseudolites. Another subtler problem with ground masts is plate tectonics. 'Fiducial GPS', used in my previous work is accurate to a few mm. It is so accurate, tectonic plate motion overwhelms any time series you produce and it has to be removed before you could get near the phenomena you wanted to measure. Ground based transmitters, subject to the same plate motion as the receiver would see no such effect, plate motion would cancel out, unless you measured a baseline across a plate boundary or something. Lastly, there are thousands of continually operating Fiducial GPS stations scattered around the world, the data is free to anyone. If you process some concurrent data from many or all of those stations, the resulting network solution perfectly describes a spheroidal Earth. The mast system would theoretically work, but you'd need millions, and they would all need different numbers. LORAN short for (LOng RAnge Navagation ) worked that way, because it used much lower frequencies that COULD travel through solid objects, but there is a detrimental trade off with system accuracy, results would be orders of magnitude worse than GPS accuracy. E-LORAN has been adopted as a back up to GPS in an extreme emergency for shipping and localized airport terminal use

When a flat earther produces a map correct in area, distance, and bearing at all points, I'll take them as more than jokes. I mean come on, it's a 2d surface being translated to a 2d sheet of paper. It should be a simple matter of ratios. The fact no one ever has in all the 100+ years since the crackpot and plagiarist Gleason made his "new standard map of the world" that was nothing more than a simple spherical projection known for centuries should tell flat earthers that something in their theory stinks.

John Michaelson the reason there currently aren't viewable versions of this map is because it is extremely incomplete. When I say we I basically mean the flat earth community. There is this idea that would prove a flat or ball earth but it currently isn't being pursued. Here is the thing... It would cost 80 million dollars. I don't know the exact numbers but I'll kinda try to give you an idea. The concept is that you launch the amount of drones needed and space them apart perfectly so that you could see the entire earth at once. It requires a lot more though I'm just putting as simple as possible, and it is a pretty simple concept it's when you get into the math that it gets complicated. Why isn't that being done right now? Mainly because it needs more funding. On monday nights this guy Jeranism is on truthfrequencyradio.com and after him mark Sargent comes on. I'm pretty sure mark Sargent and others are the ones working on the map and they also take phone calls so you can call them and ask questions about the map or you can call and attempt to debunk flat earth.

I appreciate the info, thanks. I certainly hope you haven't given them any of your money unless you just have it available to flush down the toilet. For half that they could buy a Gulfstream jet and fly across Antarctica as many times as it would take for it to sink in to their thick heads that it's not an ice wall. They could charter multiple jets and take all the high altitude photos and video they want. For 1/100th of that cost they could all fly to Australia and drive across it to prove its width and then do the same in the United States and try to figure out how it's roughly the same distance.

@ChiversVinny
@ChiversVinny 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Charley! I'm going to do my best to explain it to you. Well, Polaris wasn't the original 'North Star' and won't be the last, but I won't go into that to avoid confusion. Everything does not revolve around Polaris, it only appears to do so when in the Northern Hemisphere, in the Southern Hemisphere, it appears to revolve around a different star (Sigma Octanis) and at the equator, a time lapse would reveal straighter trails. Your numbers are a mixture of wrong and misplaced. The circumference of the Earth is 24,901 miles, the tilt as of now is 23.5 degrees and it spins at close to 1000mph. The figure of 66,600 is the rate of miles (per hour) the Earth is orbiting the sun, not spinning. Wouldn't such a rate of movement be noticeable in a time lapse? Not unless it was over a longer period than a few hours/days. The fact is that we are small. Tiny. A lot of the stars we observe are millions of lightyears away. It's like when you're driving in a car and the moon appears to remain at the same distance, even though you are moving towards it. I know what you're confusing yourself with in regards to the axis though, you're imagining the Earth being still, on an angle, with the stars (and planets etc.) spinning around evenly and the 'right way up' (there isn't a right way up). This isn't what happens though. The reason that the stars appear to be in very similar positions day to day is because it's the Earth (our view) that is spinning. The axis is irrelevant, whichever way the Earth was tilted, everything would still move relative to the rotation. I hope this is understandable, if you have further questions or want me to clarify anything, you can reply to this.

The notion that all pictures of earth are composites is ridiculous. Satellite images are composites because satellites sit in near-earth orbit and, therefore, earth is too close to the lense to get the entire shot in a single frame. However, we have full earth shots from Apollo 17 and and a number from Voyager from a range of distances, both near earth extending to the reaches of the solar system until earth can barely be picked up by the camera.

Have you ever tried to explain this to a flat Earther? I have. I have also tried to explain how the distance from the subject and focal length of the lens can distort proportions, easily explaining why the continents appear to be different sizes in different images of the Earth taken from low Earth orbit vs some distance. May as well be talking Swahili. They're not interested in facts which go against their shiny new belief because the cognitive dissonance is painful.

+Wild Kate To be honest, you'll be wasting your time trying to use satellite imagery as they'll just scream 'fake' or 'composite' and it's an easy out for them. You're far better off applying the scientific method and providing them with samples of evidence which are supported only by the spherical Earth model but destroy the flat Earth model. Almost everything in the southern hemisphere falls into this category. For example: 1. The presence of the south celestial pole (not the south pole). There can't be two celestial poles on a flat Earth. 2. The visibility of the constellations (such as Crux, the Southern Cross) that rotate around the south celestial pole concurrently from two different southern hemisphere continents when both are under darkness. For example, Crux is visible in the southern part of the sky all night, every night, all year for cities 34 degrees south and further. Sydney, Australia, Cape Town, South Africa and Santiago, Chile are all just about smack on 34 degrees, so for part of the night the Southern Cross is visible in both Sydney and Santiago, then later in the night it is visible concurrently in both Sydney and Cape Town. This is impossible on a flat Earth. 3. Flight paths between southern hemisphere continents do not match flat Earth maps. For example, direct flights between Sydney and Johannesburg or Sydney and Santiago.

The point you made at 7 mins about seeing the mountain from 80 miles away, is a valid argument, the problem is, they would still be able to see the mountain at that distance even if they weren't elevated. Go back and look at all the pictures they use to show long distance views. They all have one thing in common, water refraction. Water refraction bends light which enables the viewer to see further than they should. This is an age old argument that flat earth'ers use and it can be debunked easily. Just ask for an image that has no water in the frame. I'm surprised they haven't gone to arguing about how gyroscopes work.

Don't get too excited over the lunar eclipse. It's called a *selenhelion syzygy.* These rare events ONLY happen when the sun and moon are on *polar binary opposite* ends of the horizon- an illusion lasting for only approximately *6-8 minutes MAX* before one or either the sun or moon SETS beneath the horizon, while the other continues to RISE, thus completing the syzygy alignment from a *visual perspective.* Emphasis on "visual perspective," being the key word! Of course, both bodies always WERE aligned the entire time that both the sun and moon were (albeit temporarily) visible together. *Selenhelion eclipses* occur for the exact same reason that the sun is never quite in it's exact position just before it sets; but in actuality is always slightly *below* where we perceive it to be. It is a common phenomenon of *light refraction;* and is a well documented, well understood event when it comes to selenhelion eclipses. In saying this, you would be *extremely hard pressed* to witness a lunar eclipse where BOTH the sun and moon are high in the sky and/ or NOT on binary opposite ends of the horizon temporarily, owing to the fact that they simply *DO NOT HAPPEN!* Ever. I've always found the "NASA Photos of the Earth are composites!" argument to be ridiculously self-defeating.. composites are what you should expect given a spherical Earth. If it was flat and they had to make up images from scratch they wouldn't need composites and would have no problem lying and saying that it wasn't altered in any way.

Hypnotic one of my favorite arguments is the color of the sky at sunset. Flat earth cannot explain how when the sun is setting over a portion of the earth, the light bends over the round shape of the earth, thus stretching the cool blue of our atmosphere to a warm pink or red and even yellow.

I've two friends that has sailed from South Africa to Australia as part of a round the world challenge. This is the route that apparently you cannot buy direct flights for as they always go via Dubai etc. If the world was flat (with Antarctica around the outside edge) then they wouldn't have made the trip in 3 weeks.

This is something no stupid "flat earther" is able to dismiss. Neither can they explain why the southern continents are so small and the northern so large if the earth was flat. It's easy to drive from one side of Australia to the other and realize it's completely impossible that the earth is flat because the distance would be much greater.

I think the best arguement to debunk the flat earth theory is the same one they use. "Just look at it" ... yeah. Can you see anything past the horizon? If Asia is supposed to be on the other side of the ocean why can't we see it? It's almost as if the earth curved and we can't see as its no longer in our line is sight. The horizon itself is proof of a flat earth. Otherwise, unless of mountains, we would be able to see far away places on other parts of the world from standing at a tall tower. Infact, if the globe was flat, and if we had a powerful enough binoculars, if we stood on the highest point of the earth (Mount Everest) we would be able to see every section of the world. Which we can't. Because the globe is curved in a ball.

Atmosphere, the air is made of 71 percent nitrogen and we have fog , mist , air pollution and a ton of other things that only allow your eyes to see on average 7 miles or so. Sometimes we can see 140 miles from places like Mckinnley and that wouldn't be possible if it were a sphere of 24,900 miles which adds up too eight inches curve for every mile sqaured. Flat earth clues or 200 reasons why the earth isnt spinning will show you hundreds of reasons why you are incorrect. Research please.
@danielvine6810
@danielvine6810 7 жыл бұрын
charleysturbos light still travels in a straight line. If you can actually see a mountain on the horizon but can't see the foot of the mountain (which I can from where I live) that itself proves that the earth has a curved surface. It's basic science and logic to deduce the fact that the earth is a globe. You should take that tinfoil hat off and look at ACTUAL evidence and do REAL research. The earth is round and humanity has known that for hundreds of years. If you have actual evidence that the earth is flat, go and collect your Nobel Prize. If not, shut the fuck up and read up on facts.
@charleysturbos7320
@charleysturbos7320 7 жыл бұрын
Daniel , You shut the fuck up. I know thousands of things more then you. I know more about your Heliocentric shit then you do. Your argument is stupid ass. I just told you that mist, waves , Nitrogen and various the law of perception only allows you to see around seven miles in most cases. Also your 24,900 mile around earth works out to eight inches curve per mile squared. And their are hundreds of videos showing that what you think you see in the ship the buildings the whatever dissapearing in the horizon is only your eyesight not being able to see that far. But in reality if you zoom in when you cannot see something anymore the camera or whatever you use can zoom the object completely back into site after you think it's dropped off the sapposed curved earth. Hint in finding hundreds of these examples. Look up Nikon p900 here on you tube. Oh and the eight inches curved per mile squared is your heliocentric 24,900 miles around reference on how much curve should be. And yet you ask google or anything what the curve from anywhere on earth to anywhere else is and it will never come up with a answer . You know why? Because their is none, EARTH IS FLAT. If you respond and are too lazy to look for a video i will send you five in the next few minutes. But if you truly want to be convinced and shown a great video showing you what i know then look up "Flat earth Clues" or 200 reason why the earth is flat and not spinning". Let me know, and ps i was only offensive and rude because you said shut the fuck up when ive done litterally hundreds of hours of research on this and will do thousands more. Because it is the biggest thing i've ever learned about in my lifetime. And what you should be asking is why would they lie.

Even if the world was flat, gravity would pull it back into a sphere
@bryanmiller476
@bryanmiller476 7 жыл бұрын
Studio Warfare not really Gravity it nothing more than the earths centripetal force from its spinning throwing everything against itself And the bigger the object spinning and faster it spins the stronger the force That's why the moon which is smaller than the earth has gravity but it's much weaker Out in space, there is no gravity pushing on the earth There's no defined up or down in space either You feel the same walking around weather you are the north side or the south side cuz the centripetal is equal at equal distance from the center from all ends So people never feel like they are upside down to other on the opposite side of the earth
@Chribit
@Chribit 7 жыл бұрын
Bryan Miller Gravity IS NOT centripetal force. Gravity can act as a centripetal force if you look at why earth revolves around the sun for example. The sun acts as central and centripetal force in such math equations. "Out in space, there is no gravity pushing on the earth"... uhm... we rotate around the sun due to gravity of said sun. the stars in our galaxy also revolve around a giant black hole (probably) due to gravity. Gravity is the attraction of small objects to bigger objects in space or objects to each other in general. the last sentences are right though. Gravity is the reason why we don't feel like being "upside down"... also because there is no up and down really. (you could say up = away from earth and down = towards earths core though) Now we have to remember: we do not know what gravity is, we just know how it affects other objects. it could be dark energy or dark matter that tell us why this attraction happens. who knows.

It's also why water and tornados spin in opposite directions on the north and south sides of the earth Just like a spinning ball, if you look at the top as it spins in a giving direction and then look face on at the bottom would be spinning the opposite way
@Chribit
@Chribit 7 жыл бұрын
no. gravity also occurs if you have two completely stable objects in a no-gravity area. those two objects will attract each other over time. yes, water and tornados do spin in opposite directions because of earths rotation. but that has nothing to do with gravity nor centripetal force. that's just simply due to the air moving with the earths rotation around it's own axes. (although the air does stay on earth because of gravity.) gravity and centripetal force are not the same thing.

Putting all the hard evidence that gives us good reason to be sure the Earth is a sphere to one side for a moment, one of the biggest problems I have with the Flat Earth camp is that so far, I have never heard from them a good reason as to why we would be lied to about the shape of the planet? What would the world governments gain from telling the masses that the Earth is a sphere if it's not? It would make no difference to our lives anyway, in terms of the power structure, I just can't see what the motive would be, if they could give me even a half decent motive, I might give it more consideration, as it is, it is very difficult to take seriously, although, I do try to be as open minded about things as I can, however, for me to even entertain a conspiracy theory, I need that all important motive and I'm just not seeing it with this Flat Earth thing at all, they will claim we are being lied to, sure, I get that but now tell me why are they lying? Nobody lies unless there is a good reason to do so, there's no reason as far as I can see.

@John Cashin I'm just gonna copy paste what I wrote to someone else since I think it fits your question. Well it'll depend on which model of flat earth is the correct one (I'm not saying that any of them are right, I'm just answering the question.) 1) If the world is in a dome then it probably means something intelligent put it there.

@Charlie Cross yeah but there's a difference between one pathological liar and an entire world conspiracy that's been going on for hundreds of years involving all governments even when they're at war with each other (a la the Cold War and space race). Surely if Russia wanted to trash the USA or vice versa, all they had to do was PROVE that the other one was lying about an globular earth, and boom! Instant pwnage. But no... The very fact that it's almost impossible to keep a conspiracy secret for long even in just ONE country means that the concept of a worldwide conspiracy between every physicist, all amateur and professional astronomers, astronauts, GPS system developers, Satellite everything, pilots etc just blows my mind... It's as insane as the people who still deny the moon landings or 9-11 or the Holocaust.

There is one intriguing counterargument against the "flat-earthers" photographic proposition that I have not yet come across. If it is true that NASA "photoshops" its images of the Earth, and Alex does seem to deal with this adequately, I at the same time recall that the first full photo of the Earth, called the Blue Marble shot, was taken on 7 December 1972. However, Photoshop was not invented and launched until 1988. Having learnt the art of photography and of photographic development as a journalist and editor through the 1980s, before Photoshop, and then of Photoshop itself, after its arrival, I can say with certainty that if a 1972 photo had been doctored in any way, especially by turning a flat disc into a sphere, any even amateur photographer would be able to tell. Back in those days, NOBODY was THAT good a fraud. (And let us not forget that at the time, the Russians were America's staunch enemy, so I doubt that they would have keenly organised some back-room arrangement to fabricate THEIR photos as well, just to help out NASA in its deception.)

The earth is not flat. If the earth was flat, then gravity could not exist. If gravity didn't exist, then the earth has to be moving up (according to flat-earth-theory). If the earth was moving up, it would be moving up with THE SAME SPEED AT ALL POINTS (including mountain peaks). If the earth was moving up with the same speed at all points, then the weight of all objects at any point on the surface MUST BE THE SAME. You can clearly go on a high mountain and weigh yourself there or anything else. Then you will SEE that the weight's a little bit less in comparision with standing on the ground. This conflicts our assumption that the earth is flat. Therefore Flat-Earth-Theory is disproven.
