Florida State and Oklahoma played in Game 1 of the 2021 Women's College World Series. It is a best of 3 series that will determine the 2021 WCWS Champion.

This is what happens when you have a good umpire who calls a legit strike zone and pitchers don't get the calls for pitches 2" wide and low. Forces the pitchers to throw strikes and doesn't force the hitters to protect nonsense strike zones. We get hits, runs, and action. Great job, blue.

Can someone explain this obstruction rule to me? It looked like FSU's catcher blocked the plate in the 7th but it wasn't called.

So the catcher has to catch the ball then she is able to block the plate but since the ou catcher had her knee and leg infront of the plate before she had possession of the ball it’s obstruction. On the other hand Fsu catcher caught the ball then moved in front of the plate so it’s not obstruction. Hope that helped

woahhh I just saw that play, horrible slide by the runner she beat the ball but went for the back of the plate as if she got beat, if she slid wit her feet touching home she would’ve been safe

@@cameronlawson8717 yeah you completely missed why strategically it makes no sense. Doesn’t matter baseball or softball or size of the field or what the other team is playing like. When you’re down 4 in your last at bat you don’t take chances for one run. Best case scenario she scores and you’re still down 3 so you need more anyway and worst case scenario you just saw she gets thrown out and you’re down 4 and need more anyway. The correct play is hold the runner up unless there’s gonna be no play at the plate because you need more than just that run or you lose anyway so there’s no upside in trying to force run across.
