Big prediction: Halloween will become an actual thing in Japan thanks to the Yakuza. A holiday where kids can dress up and go door to door for free candy? Japanese kids will want that. Then there are the spooky Halloween parties for the adults. Which is interesting, as that would mean there would be two spooky holidays: Japanese ones in the summer and Western ones in autumn.

(8:27) I feel like the Yakuza can make a comeback. Many foreigners have a tough time in Japan. Getting apartments, banks, and adjusting to Japanese life can be difficult. Many hostess bars and other forms of adult entertainment are off limits to foreigners. If they can provide these services, the Yakuza could be profitable again.
@tristanband40033 жыл бұрын
Well the Yakuza does, on the other hand, have strong tendencies toward Japanese nationalism...but if their greed proves stronger than their politics... They're going to have to beef up their foreign language repertoire. Perhaps Yakuza who deal with overseas crime syndicates would be the best positioned for this. At this point, if they want to survive, they are going to have to decide money is money, even if its from a gaijin.

@Japanese Comedian Meshida I imagine that because the Yakuza is aging rapidly it is now easier to talk about them without feeling threaten by them, right? Before when they had a stronghold it was very difficult to be outspoken about the Yakuza no matter if there was no specific family mentioned. I have seen other videos where Former Yakuza are being interviewed although some of them demand that such interviews are not aired in Japan and also demand that some members have their faces obscured or covered. I believe that crime groups may die out only to be replaced by other types and perhaps worse than the old ones sadly...it is a repetitiveness cycle of History overall everywhere.
@tristanband40033 жыл бұрын
Ultimately, the best way to kill a gang or mafia is by decriminalizing their revenue streams
@EternalRoman3 жыл бұрын
@@tristanband4003 Sadly in Japan is a bit more complicated. See, the thing about the Yakuza is that in their origin and the government tolerance about them was because they dealt with the shady stuff from society, gambling, prost*tvt*on, and stuff like that. But they also employed and took care of people that were shunned in society on a really misplaced way of thinking such as scarred people, people with birth defects/ deformities, twins (yes twins were shunned), people with mental health issues. The Yakuza were basically the ones that took care of the poor too in a way. Being created in the Edo period, they would also function in a way as the feudal system did as well, hence the family system was a big part. But they too had regular businesses like restaurants, breweries (Yamaguchi Gumi being a legal brand of Sake from this famous /infamous family), and hotels. In the 20th century their businesses expanded to TV programs and channels, particularly the s3x industry and material and the such. The thing is that obviously they became too powerful and with all great power comes the potential to get overconfident, so this was what made them become a target because of the abuse of the people themselves. Originally they'd protect people too, but eventually they became the abusers themselves and as such people got fed up. The main issue though is that now with the "castrating" of the Yakuza, new and even super violent criminal groups are taking their place. Such groups are hated by the Yakuza not because of their appearance but because these groups are akin to Street thugs whom commit horrible violent crimes against the public themselves. Something the Yakuza mostly reserved to their dealings with other groups if there was a feud. But these groups (I think their names are Hangure or something like that) are indeed gangs of thugs that would rob, beat and kill people. If you're ever mugged in Japan it is these groups that do so, and it always ends up with blood. While Yakuza were not into robbing people like thugs cause they'd prefer the extortion approach best and would indeed keep minor birthing gangs controlled or eliminated. So now Japan is suffering because of the birth of these groups and the Yakuza not being the once considered "Necessary Evil" of society. But again, this is what happens when a group becomes too power hungry instead of keeping their chivalry code they used to have and now it is worse.

I spoke (in my poor Japanese) to other neighbours and they also complain about the night wan wan. So, one morning, without noticing all the young boys dressed in black and with sun-glasses even at night, without noticing the cars with dark windows, I RUNG THE DOORBELL!!! I was escorted to a bautiful Kyakuma and I waited alone until an old man, very kind, appeared. He offered me tea from Shizuoka and listened to my problem compimenting me for my (horrible) Japanese as though I was a princess. I explained the problem with chibi wan wan chan....nado nado. He said "mondainai" I was escorted to the gate. No problem, I had been very "Tenei". But the dog desappeared the next day. All rhe neighbourhood was petrified "didn' you know they are YAKUZA!!! "You will go back to Italy, but we must stay here. now we have to be extra-careful"
