Yeah, this was a bad take by Mojo. The Jedi games are phenomenal. Their reasoning of detracting from being a Jedi just to be pushed around by a stormtrooper, could be something that would happen in the lore. If you’re too overpowered all the time, it’s no fun.

What many don't get is that the challenge of the souls-game doesn't only lie in enemies being hard af. It's a number of other things. One being, even if not mentioned often or is that obvious at all, is that the movement and fighting system are just clunky and bad as hell. I genuinely hate when studios think that in order to increase the difficulty in a game they need to adapt or make their own version of bad clunky fighting system only to end up with something that's even worse.

I`m getting fed up of bloody souls-likes, ever since 2012 when darksouls came out that genre has not stopped being made mean while hack & slash games have been taking a backseat, last year alone had over 10 of them. I was indifferent at first but when ppl wouldn't shut up about it I ended up hating it plus ppl kept on talking about it being difficult and acting this is the only game that does this meanwhile forgetting/Ignoring that a game called Ninja Gaiden had difficulty and guess what? it`s a hack & slash game. One thing I will say is that there are some things that are good in souls-likes which is why I like Stellar Blade, that is a mix of both hack & slash and souls-lite and took the best parts, melee combos from H&S and bosses from souls-likes. Also Darksiders 4 being a mix of hack & slash and 3rd person shooting is a sick idea, there are game that exists with this genre but it`s not done as much or gone to there full potential, Wanted Dead being an example. There was a certain game that I won`t mention had a sick looking art style and I liked the way the protagonist looked but when I found out it was a souls-like I was bloody disappointed, I even played the demo and remembered why I don`t like souls-likes: slow, restrictive combat, a bloody stamina bar, boring slow cutscenes and high difficulty even the UI looks boring. Now I have been seeing ppl talking about H&S game, how much they love them and I have some very good news for you... Here are some H&S games you can check out: Soulstice Valkyrie Elysium Wanted: Dead Etenights Stella Blade Project DT Project M Lost Soul Aside Phantom Hellcat Arise of Awakener Granblue Fantasy Relink Yasuke A Lost Descendent Shred & Tear: Explosive Kajun Phantom Blade SuperSimmer Astor: Blade of the Monolith Captain Blood Mightreya 13Z And just to talk about one of them in detail. Soulstice. It`s a dark fantasy, hack & slash game made by Reply Game Studios. The game takes inspirations from the anime Claymore and Berserk, you will see the inspirations strait away as soon as you see the main character and the boss designs. If you decide to play Soulstice I'd recommend that you watch Claymore and Berserk first just to get you hyped up to play the game. And for icing on the cake, Reply Game Studios said they want to be the Italian version of Platinum Games. There are a lot more that are out there, H&S games are really fun to play and I'm so glad to see more of them. Shouts out to hack & slash games, they are making a comeback.

I used to like motto, but this list seems like it was made by someone that's only watched games being played, not actually played themselves. Stray blade is the only one that had any validity to the point. Next!

Sure DS 3 should not have been a souls game but as someone who has come to love the genre/play style. I would say that many like me get into gaming due to the diverse genre's that exist, like me I love Scifi so the moment I played The Surge I was instantly hooked. I guess what I am trying to say is in as much as some on this list don't need to be souls clones at the same time some benefit from it as a good introduction to the style.

There was a niche vampire game, Code Vein, I think that was it's name. It had an interesting RP idea, but I play games to relax not burst a blood vessel. So I only played it to the first or second boss,

They have a problem with Stormtroopers being able to “body” a Jedi? My dude did you even watch revenge of the sith? They can absolutely kill a Jedi they are just as vulnerable to blaster bolts as any other living being in Star Wars. Jedi are just trained to be capable warriors but they aren’t invincible.

I honestly got frustrated on the boss fights in jedi survivor on ps4 and I lowered the difficulty level after I had tried a few times. I just don’t like challenging games like Dark Souls. Life is already difficult enough, I play games to escape stress not to get more stressed.

I'm not a big fan of soulslikes, but i'm fine that Stellar Blade one of the best games of the year with the most beautiful characters is a soulslike and I didin't knew that Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is a soulslike! My favourite soulslikes are Bloodborne, Lies of P and Stellar Blade! Can't wait i'm so excited for The First Berserker Khazan an anime action RPG soulslike what's going to be the best soulslike only because it's an anime styled game! By the way would Pokemon game ever be a soulslike? I would love to see a Pokemon soulslike like Legends Arceus, but harder that would be awesome! 😆🔥

Sounds like the chief issue is crediting the souls franchise for things that arent unique to the souls franchise.

I just call them challenging games. Then again, some of us are from an era where you had to start from the beginning when you died.....without a save point 😂

I was a fan of souls like games and I loved the darksider games but when the 3rd game came out I just couldn’t get into it. The open world exploration, the fighting mechanics and even leveling up didnt make sense for it.

Wishing wont do anything. All we have to do is wait this out. Remember back when the OG Xbox came out and we were hit with Halo? Then every game after that had to be an FPS. It stayed that way through most of gen 7 and is finally dyeing out. This too will pass.

Ridiculous to include surge and remnant series to the list. Am currently 100 hours in Remnant 1 and it’s great. Looks like the list was simply made by someone who dislikes soulslike or sucks at these games.

Ppl spend so much money on a console/pc and games just to mash 1 or 2 buttons with their brain turned off. Don’t know why someone like that would play action games but to each their own 😂

Remove Stellar Blade from this list. It is in a class of its own. So is Star Wars Jedi Survivor.

Idk somehow I don't think The Surge would have even gotten a sequel if it was a straight up action game. It looks too much like a generic sci-fi game.

I wish Lies of P wasn't a Soulslike. I like the aesthetic but it is way too hard for me to play. I want an easier Steampunk game. There's 2D Soulslikes? Geralt is telling us the story of Tails of Iron. Strangers of Paradise is nowhere near as difficult? Good. Stellar Blade has Souls difficulty? I was able to get through the demo.

Darksiders 3, Lords of the Fallen, Stellar Blade, and the Star Wars Jedi series are pushing the souls formula forward and feel extremely rewarding. They dont belong on this list. How boring would it be to sit there and button mash these games for 20 plus hours? Not to mention, not every action game shouldn't be like the legend of zelda which hasn't been good since skyward sword.

I’m worries about upcoming new Capcom game was Onimusha: Way of the Sword if Capcom added SoulsLike genre on Onimusha, I’m so disappointed but they should stick with action hack ‘n’ slash genre compares to previous games.
