More than 30 years ago I was installing the gas tanks on my 1975 FLH. As I tightened the nuts in back it felt like I was squeezing the harness a bit. A few minutes later I hit the starter button and POOF! a $75 NOS wiring harness ignites and burns up.

I was looking at your fuel linencoming from the petcock, it looks like you are running it down to the base then upnto the carb, are you not running it through the wire for the stock routing for the butterfly carb?

Hello. Is the color original for 1969? My Harley Handbook says that was a ailable only black/black wrinkle/white strip or orange/black wrinkle or birch white/black wrinkle whatever the black wrinkle was always on the tank. Can you tell me more please? Thanks

This is a stock color for 1969. There were more colors than that. This is called hi fi blue with white. There’s a site that’s old, but has the correct listing of colors www.hdpaint.tk

Good Day Nuttsand boltz garage. I have a 71 flh. I see you have a S&S carb. I have one on mine as well. My throttle cable was a hard wire routed through the handle bars. But it does not connect up for smooth operaton on the S&S. How did you get the carb to operate smoothly? Did you stick with the stock set up or put on the throttle grip and cable assembly that came with the S&S. Nice Bike.

on this 69 i keep the stock internal throttle and i use a braided line. there has to be a throttle return spring behind the throttle spool. when you set up this way, with the braided cable, it turns the throttle into a dead mans throttle. meaning it will stay put until you back off the throttle

For the oil lines. There’s a breather line to the oil tank and I believe the other is a rear chain oiler

This is the breather and the rear chain oil line. The one that is on the left, is the breather pipe. There is also for the rear oiling line that bends down. They are both in the parts book at the “cases” section.
