I’m going down the rabbit hole on your videos. This is what I’ve been looking for to get current gear. Thanks for all the types. I was looking for options to change from toe laces on my Brian’s pads. You’ve said a couple times The toe bungy’s you promote are good for guys with “bigger” feet. I’m 5’11” but only have 7.5 skates. Question is: Will your straps fit smaller feet? I tested some pads last year vs my ol' leather straps...it's like 30% lighter or more depending on how old your leather goes. The material slides fast on the ice as well. Wasn't sure how I would like it on my first game. And it took like 3 games for me to see the benefits. But by the 6th or 7th game I played I was sold.

Excellent video, so many key tips. I can't thank you enough. If there was one "light bulb" moment I had it was; the shooting tip and to grip the stick with the bottom part of the glove. I'm weak in the shooting dept and often disperse ducks up the ice. This is something I want to improve upon greatly before next season. Thanks again sir and keep up the great goalie content.

I’m curious to know how you get your positioning consistent. I tend to use the posts to orient myself to start but as soon as I start moving I start to lose my spot and that’s when I tend to let bad goals in where I wasn’t covering part of the net.

I know I’m not the same as a pro goalie but I play u14aaa and it just takes a bunch of reps to know where you are in the net but also I know some people that use land marks like the dots to know where the corner of the crease is and help find where they are in the net
@TheDan143 жыл бұрын
Playing 5 days a week to build that familiarity with your angles where you subconsciously understand how to orient yourself with the dots/boards/posts (everyone loves to have a goalie at open hockey) works great (until you go play a tournament on olympic ice or some weird smaller rink and you get scored on far side from the half boards lol)

I’ve done quite a bit of metal work on aircraft and one of the most important things is filling and sanding the cut edges very smooth, #1 it allows you to bend without it breaking, I would think on carbon fiber hockey stick it should definitely help to keep the stick from cracking and the fibers from spreading …give that a try…👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Good tips Trav. My Optik 3's are all Velcro so not much room for adjustability but it's fine. As far as danglers go I was going through 2-3 a year and I prefer the head mobility of no dangler & just try & tuck my chin on shots up high. Little hack for your defender to gain a second against forecheck (when he’s behind the net). I mean, if you pay attention to them all the time, you’ll notice them, but if you aren’t constantly focusing on them you will have no idea they’re even there. I feel like they’re definetely worth the extra protection. The only place where I would sacrifice a little bit of security is with the mask, with a cheater cage. Not a cat-eye, because those can be easily noticed and has much more likelihood of something getting through, but definitely a cheater cage.

Can you show how to make your chesty look bigger like vasilevskiy and make a video about chest protectors in general, I think they are very overlooked

Whats an alternative to toe ties? If my laces are tied tight everything is disconnected and it strains everything but when they are longer my pads move around too much to the point its inconsistent. Help
@trav4oilers2 жыл бұрын
Toe ties are the perfect hybrid my friend. I promise. Gives the feel of laces, without the wear and tear. There is a reason these are the most durable on the planet and countless NHL goalies are using pro laces. Hope this helps. Chat soon :) let me know if you got any more questions
@Kriksis992 жыл бұрын
@@trav4oilers hmm. The most important part is consistency, my ankle knee and hip health. And i want my pads to stay in place so when im on the ice it feels the same every time so i dont have to adjust. If this helps - im in and gonna need that link brotha💪

I've got a new set of CCM R1.9 pads some time ago and i just cant figure out how to strap them. I've tried almost everything and i just cant seem to get the perfect fit. They always feel wiggly and loose, in worse cases my left pad doesnt even rotate back and gets stuck facing down. I'd appreciate some help because its really restricting my skating and mobility :(
@trav4oilers3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes (I feel) the toe tie is the huge connection point that needs to be fixed. Hope that helps man
@borsi_xd3 жыл бұрын
@@trav4oilers Ah okay then maybe a bungee toe tie would help. I'll try changing to them. Thank you:)
@place_desjardins3 жыл бұрын
If the pad gets stuck in the rotated position after you get up, it's usually because the boot of the pad is stuck on top of the skate. If you have a boot strap that goes through the rear of the skate or through the bottom of the skate, you'll want to loosen that strap because that is clamping the boot to the skate in the butterfly position. Other option is to remove it. Now, the pad should rotate back easily. If it's too loose, don't tighten the boot strap, tighten the lowest calf strap.
