Goldeneye has to be one of the best multiplayer games ever created, spent years playing it with friends. Never had a game so addictive before or since for multiplayer. Still got Sabre Wulf on my ZX Spectrum, not had a cassette deck for 15 years though...

Couldn't agree more, Jim! I still enjoy playing the multiplayer with mates.

Fantastic, you could actually dual wield any 2 guns in multiplayer, without any cheat codes, you had to bash the reload and and change weapon buttons and eventually it would glitch, you had no control over which 2 weapons you could wield, but it was epic.Great video btw

"Well balanced difficulty" Sounds like someone never played the Aztec Complex on 00 Agent difficulty yet.
@onaretrotip3 жыл бұрын
LMAO. That level is so unforgiving; it's miles more brutal than the rest. I've been playing it loads this year, and that level just ruins me. The start is the worst as a lot of it is blind luck with the first three guards' reactions.
@jadencoucopoulos25673 жыл бұрын
Lately I have been playing this level so many times on 00 Agent that I can actually beat it _somewhat_ consistently now, because I learned a few tricks from all of my attempts. So here’s some advice from a true 00 Agent like me: In the first room, there’s three guards; one on the right, and two on the left. When you start the mission, crouch down by holding R and C-down, then releasing R. Then go to the wall to your left, and take out the one guard on the right side first, then take out the other two as they come around the corner so you don’t get surrounded. Now there’s a chance one of those guards can throw a grenade. If this happens, run out and hide behind the left pillar. Or if you want to play it safe, restart the mission and try again. Once you’re done in the first room, go towards the hidden door from the _left_ side, so you have more cover from the guard in the very back of the next room. Shoot at the guard in front of the doorway, then using the AR33’s zoom scope, aim and shoot at the guard in the very back of the room. This will cause the other two guards to react and go after you. Now you should stand just around the doorway and wait for these guards to come around so you can shoot them. These guards can also throw grenades. If they throw one towards you across the hall, the grenade will land right at the doorway, causing the guards to run into the explosion, killing themselves. Now go through the hallway, hugging the right side wall. When you’re a few steps away from the end of the hall, hold R and tap C-left until the guard behind those steel boxes to the right starts shooting. When he does, wait until he stops firing. Now there will be a break when he stops firing as expected. Use this time to peek around the pillar and shoot him. Then do the same thing for the guard to the left. In the room with the launch protocol data, I found that the best thing to do is to just shoot near, or directly at the guard to the far left by hitting his hand. This usually causes most of, or all five guards in this room to go after you. Now you need to just stand to either side of the doorway and take out the guards that come out of the door one by one. The room leading up to the exhaust bay is very easy, because you can shoot at the guards’ heads through the gaps without them seeing you. If the guards from inside the exhaust bay come out early, you can just go into one of the spaces the previous guards were in and shoot them. If they don’t, shoot the floor in the exhaust bay, then they will run out. Now do the same thing as stated before. Once you’re in the exhaust bay, it will automatically open. Destroy the computer on the left, and walk through the vent. Go straight ahead and you will find two turrets facing away from you. Destroy the turret on the right, so you can go around and pick up the body armor. Use R + C-right to kill the other guards and destroy the other turret. Before you enter the room with the shuttle, you need to slowly walk against the left wall until you can see a turret and destroy it. For the next one, you NEED to use the PP7 to destroy it, otherwise the explosion will destroy the glass that’s blocking the two turrets on the high ceiling, which just makes the mission harder. There are three guards who are in your sight that have Moonraker Lasers. I would recommend getting rid of the one that’s closest to the right from where you’re looking, Stand in a very precise spot behind the vent, then use R + C-left to see the guard from between the steel boxes and the wall you were standing in front of. Use the AR33’s zoom scope to aim and shoot at the guard there. For the other two, quickly go around to the space where the ladder is, and use R + C-left to aim and shoot at them, same as always. There will also be one more guard close to the mainframe to the right. Kill him, and destroy the turrets on the ceiling. *Don’t forget to close the exhaust bay before moving on!* This will open the door inside the exhaust bay that you need to go through later. When you get to the rooms with the stairs, get rid of any guards you encounter, until you get to the room with Jaws. Quickly enter the room and shoot at or near Jaws to get him to chase you. Now go to the first room with the stairs around the gap in the middle(the first room you enter after leaving the previous room), and make sure Jaws follows you in here. He will not be able to see or shoot at you from across the gap, but _you can._ Use this to your advantage to chip away at his health. Once you kill him, he will drop a security smart card. Pick it up and quickly run to the room with the launch protocol data. You can run faster by holding C-up and C-left/right(1.2, 1.4), or by holding the Control Stick up + C-left/right(1.1, 1.3). At this point, guards that are dual-wielding Moonraker Lasers will infinitely spawn around you randomly. The good news is that you can also dual-wield your weapons, too. The first thing you need to do is open the glass door and close it so guards won’t shoot you from far away. Pick up the launch protocol data and equip the shuttle guidance data from the watch menu to upload it. Once that’s done, arm yourself and go to the mainframe that controls the launch sequence. When you get there, upload the launch protocol data and then go up the ladder to open the exhaust bay, or else the launch will be halted until it is open. While the exhaust bay is opening, watch out for any guards that come around the corner. When the countdown is finished, you’ve beaten the mission. -------------------- One thing that I like about this mission is that it doesn’t rely too heavily on RNG, unlike the Control Center or the Train. So if you learn this level, you can beat it with very few problems. And it feels really good when you master this level; your friends wouldn’t be able to stand a chance against you in Multiplayer mode. Shame that the level right after it is very disappointingly easy, with an equally easy cheat to unlock(which I’ll say right now, is REALLY worth it when you get it).

Still one of my all time favourite games even now and while many won't agree I still think it's aged well overall the only thing that held it back was the n64's crappy controller but other than that it's amazing. Still so well balanced and fun to explore and do different objectives. Ahh they don't make them like they used to.. keep it up pal, really enjoyed!

+Game Taff Thanks Aydan! Yeah, many people say that it's aged very poorly, but I still thoroughly enjoy playing both the single and mutilplayer modes. The game is designed so well that it's a joy to play through the story, and some levels are still a challenge after years of playing it.

I liked the video, however there are more differences with the Japanese version (aka NTSC-J), which are a slightly faster fire rate for the AR33, better auto aim for Secret and 00 Agent, and there’s more body armor on Secret and 00 Agent. These changes help a lot while speedrunning. There’s also a difference on PAL, and that is laggy levels are handled better, especially Train and Jungle, which helps if you’re speedrunning those levels, and the frames per second is different as well.

Ooh, interesting! I didn't know about the fire rates or differences in auto aim and body armour. Thanks for the info!

Cool video. I never played Goldeneye (though I was aware of it) nor did I ever own any consoles after the Game Gear (which I traded my NES for). At different points, I tried to plan getting another console, but it just never materialized, so I was mostly a PC Gamer. Still, I find videos like this fascinating!
