Hi Geoff, I live in Melbourne and bought the Ardbeg 5 Wee Beastie on specials day before yesterday for $75 Aussie for 700 ml but the regular going price is $105 & it’s 47.4% here as opposed to the 46% you mentioned in your market. I had a couple of drams last night and really loved it’s depth & meatiness (umami) like flavour. The last Islay I had was Laphroaig 10 years ago but I like the Ardbeg wee beastie more.

I also, in the last several years, don't drink Bunnahabian 12 by itself. However, I find it an excellent blend ingredient. 60% bunna 12 40% Ardbeg Ugidail OR if you have access to independent Bunnahabian Stoicha heavily peated cask strength bottles, blend them together and let it rest for 6-8 weeks to marry and you have a Islay sherry peat bomb. Cheers

Solid list but I'd remove Deanston Virgin Oak as they have recently raised the price considerably and is now at Glencadam 10 price levels. Well. there is a difference between buying a solid Single Malt Whisky which is guaranteed to please, and buying Single Malt which will impress your boss/friend whisky enthusiast but spending the least amount of money. For the first category, I'd absolutely start with your No.1 choice. *Single Malts on a really tight budget but are still really descent:* Glen Moray Classic / 12/ Any other at that level. Cheapest decent single malt on the market. Glen Scotia 10. Yes, it's bottled at 40% but really cheap and gives you a genuinely delicious taste of Campbeltown whisky. Highly recommended. Speyburn Bradan Orach. Dirt cheap. What a superb and delicious whisky with apples. pears, honey, raisins and a squirky distillery copper still aroma to it. Love it! Glencadam American Oak Reserve. 40% but gives you almost the 10YO experience but at a much cheaper price. Still impressive. Glencadam 10. Superb single malt. Great tasting and suitable for both lists. Loch Lomond Original. Cheaper than the LL 12 and gives you pretty much the same experience but at 40% abv. Glenfiddich 12 American Oak. Slightly more expensive than the standard 12 but gives you a whopping yellow fruits flavour experience. Glenmorangie 10 / 12. Not as good as it used to be a few years ago, but still a whisky which no one will say they didn't like. Auchentoshan American Oak. Yes, I know many make fun of this, but honestly it's cheap and very tasty. Arran Barrel Reserve. A really descent 43% single malt with the Arran house character very much in tacked. *SIngle Malts on a budget but will impress:* Glen Moray First-Fill 48%, Non-Chill Filtered. Incredibly cheap and a real integrity bottling. Will impress at an incredible budget price. Glencadam 10. Natural Colour, NCF, 46% abv. Natural Ex-Bourbon maturation. Guaranteed to impress. Loch Lomond Inchmurrin 12. Incredible complexity for the price. Loch Lomond inchmoan 12 Ardnamurchan Ad. Anything from Ardnamurchan is guaranteed to impress. Balblair 12. Another distillery with a big reputation. No one turns their noses up at a Balblair. AnCnoc 12. Not impressive on paper but has a cult following. Laphroaig 10. Probably the oldest classic on the market. Guaranteed crowd pleaser. Lindores Abbey “The Casks of Lindores”. A new distillery but releases lovely tasting whisky. Arran Quarter Cask. An alternative to the Arran 10. This I think brings you more complex and freshness.

Finally, it may be personal preference, but I think Lochlea (specifically Fallow 2nd crop but Our Barley and Cask Strength Batch 1 are all good) deserves to be here. Somehow the PX cask comes through in the young whisky and makes a very interesting fruity-sweet profile that tastes a lot older than it is. EDIT: Forgot Craigellachie 13. All good choices, but at least in New England, USA, your prices are way too low in this video.

Honestly? Aberlour 12 ($60 US ) seems a terribly glaring ommission.

Dude. Couple of big misses. Benromach 10 and Classic Laddie. WTF

Just guessing most of your audience is in US, so why not base the prices off of a store like Binnys or Total Wine. Just a thought.

Are the big chain prices consistent across all the states? If so, that might be a good idea. In my experience the US stores doesn't boast quite the same selection, though. At least the online ones. But I agree, that's a good idea and I'll look into it. Cheers! 🥃

@@GwhiskyYes Total Wine is nationwide and their prices ARE very competitive; hated by shops that insist on full retail.

I will yell at you for not remotely considering the German market. Unacceptable behaviour as this market taught you the most important German word of them all: "Farbstoff" A stupid critique for the sake of the algorithm
