3 things about Final Fantasy Adventure aka Adventures of Mana: 1- it is called Seiken Densetsu Final Fantasy Gaiden, so it was technically a spinoff to the FF series 2- Sword of Mana on GBA is actually a reimagining of the game combining most of Trials of Mana's mechanics with the game's story told from the 2 main characters' perspectives 3- Adventures of Mana on mobile and PSVita is an almost 1:1 remake of the game and it plays just like the original though menus are much more closer to recent entries in the series

What's funny about the ds version of xenosaga 1+2, is that despite it being on far inferior hardware, it's supposed to be the best version of those games

Xenosaga I + II for DS was made only to push Xenosaga III in Japan since Xenosaga 1 and 2 on PS2 did not fare that good in Japan and Namco thought it'd be a good way to have everyone (since ds in Japan sold like hotcakes) on the same page for the release of Xenosaga III

Actually, I've known about the DS Xenosaga release. I remember reading about it in a video game magazine once. I wanted to play .hack on Switch but even though it got released not that long ago it's already hard to find and expensive (did they only produce 100 pieces of it?!) so I had to got with the cheap PS4 version.

For me, PSP version of Lunar is more unexpected, like why another remake after all this time. It's a shame that Lunar 2 didn't have the same treatment when Lunar 1 has so many remakes.

I loved disgaea on the ds. Being able to see the map and positioning on the bottom screen was incredible. It's a pity they didn't port more of them to the 3ds it would've been a perdect fit with the added 3d effect

What makes Lunar 1 super interesting is that each version is essentially a remake (I never played the version on the phone). Yeah, none of them are ports. Each time, the developer remade the game from the ground up and changed things around. The basic story is still the same but if you play each of the versions like I have, you'll really appreciate each version for its unique aspects. The Sega CD version is the original and is quite a bit different than the remake on the PS1/Saturn. GBA is different from that version and the PSP remake is different from the others as well. So, if someone were to ask me "which version is the definitive version for someone to get?" I'd have a hard time answering that because, well, there isn't one "best" version. FF1 got ported to just about everything but people agree that the PSP version and its ports is the best version of that game. You can't really say that about Lunar 1. But that just makes it awesome. If you liked Lunar 1, go ahead and try another version. The Sega CD version is probably the most unique of the bunch. Alex doesn't have sword skills, instead he's just an average human like Ramus until he gets endowed with magic. Teaming up with Nash is the first time you see how great it is to have magic, he easily dispatches enemies that took you a few turns to take down. I like it because it really shows how beneficial magic is in this world and how much of a disadvantage those who don't have it are.

My friend back in highschool told me aboutt Lunar on PS1 back in 2001, I first played it as the GBA port on loan from my girlfriend at the time in 2005. I currently own the PS1 and PSP versions and agree that the PSP version is the best way to play it.

Except in that Lunar game Jessica is pretty much USELESS her Best healing spell unlike the Sega CD/PS1 game ONLY restores 40 HP to the ENTIRE party all the LATE game bosses can do OVER 5 times that damage forcing Alex to use Blue Dragon Healing EVERY turn at those points in game because of that. While the PSP version of Lunar 1 KEPT Lunar Legend's limit break type of moves it also kept Jessica's PS1 version of the healing spells so her AOE healing does NOT restore a fixed 40 damage AND CAN be used every turn end of the game.

As a big fan of Mystic Quest/Seiken Densetsu 1, I really disliked the GBA Sword of Mana remake which changed map design and all the dialogue and story. It didn’t add anything, IMO, it just slowed the pace and made the explosively climactic moments dull and drawn out. However, I’m a big fan of the iPhone remake Adventures of Mana is a 1:1 remake with 3D graphics, so the game maintains the original vision.

Okay, so I wouldn't say Final Fantasy Adventure has nothing to do with Final Fantasy. The name of the game in Japan is Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden. Which roughly translates to Legend of Mana: Final Fantasy Side Story. I didn't play this one as I could never really get into game boy rpgs (on the original game boy), but I played part 2 and it had some elements that are familiar to Final Fantasy such as the Moogles. It has nothing to do with the main series the way none of the main entries have anything to do with each other. Every FF is different so it's hard to say the gaiden had nothing to do with the series. Also, it's interesting that Silver Star Harmony was your favorite version of Lunar. I lost interest the moment I saw they did away with the world map. I think my favorite version is the original. I liked the PSX/Saturn remake ( yes, I played the Japanese versions for the Saturn) too, but there was this kind of hopeless feeling the original Sega CS version gives you toward the end that no other version has managed to recapture. And you're an ass for the Xenogears cruelty....lol
