I see no-one” -Psi, Time Heist (like Jack in Parting of the ways, he survives, but he’s absolutely sure he won’t and still stares the Teller down like a baller) -“Shh, Spoilers” -River Song, Forest of the Dead (As if I needed to give a reference for that epitaph!) -“Affirmative” -K9, School Reunion (I know, it was actually a self sacrifice, which should be a whole other list, but c’mon, you gotta include it!) -“I think sir, you know me at my best””Ready””Content” -Octavian, Flesh and Stone -“Did I ever tell you about this boy I met there, who pretended to be in a band? -Amy Pond [+36yrs], The Girl Who Waited -“Oh, you know nothing of any human, and that will be your downfall” -Harriett Jones (former Prime Minister), The Stolen Earth I actually wouldn’t have included either Doctors deaths, as they do come back in a fashion and know this, but I can live with it and remember Tennent’s description of the regeneration cycle. I definitely wouldn’t have added Donna, as I don’t think she knew she was dead, she just knew she may die, and, what do you know? She survived.

I've personally never viewed the Pompeii episode with the perspective that Donna thought she was going to die in that moment, though it is an interesting one. I think an interesting one is in the episode Let's Kill Hitler from series 6B, where after River kisses him with poisonous lipstick, the Doctor knows that he's going to die in half an hour. Instead of freaking out or giving up, he decides to dress in a fancy outfit and continue being himself for the last half hour of his life. His insistence on not having a bleak outlook coupled with his dismissive acceptance of his impending doom make it a fun episode.

You forgot about Astrid peth It’s in the Christmas episode voyage of the Damned, she knows that unless she does what she does, there is no way the doctor is going to survive, and he hast to survive, which makes her more than just companion material. It shows why the doctor himself is so heartbroken when she dies when he cannot save her and he really tries. If you watch the episode and you see the look on her face it says everything. Ironically, the character is played by Kylie Minogue and she plays her brilliantly.

Catherine Tate absolutely dominates every moment she's on screen in her season. There was so much development she had left and to see her character go from vain and shallow to a thoroughly decent woman by Journeys End and to have it stolen from her. The doctor took all that from her and it was easily the saddest moment of that season and a fate worse than death, and her acting in that scene shows it thoroughly.

@@MaryAnnNytowl Wrong episode for Amy. She doesn’t die at that point and wasn’t expecting to. This was simply a goodbye, if forever. A better choice would be Amy+36yrs in The Girl Who Waited (“Did I ever tell you about a boy I met there who pretended to be in a band?”) Spot on with River, though
@morgaaaaaa3 жыл бұрын
i don't disagree with either of you :) i would've liked to have seen the captain of the waters of mars saying a stern goodbye to The Timelord Victorious before 'rewriting history', but i don't know if that fit the criteria of this video. there's just too many dying people in DW !! xD

Another good one is from the 11th Doctor's "Dinosaurs in Space" episode. The look on Solomon's face as he watches the missles flying right at his ship.... perfect karma.

David’s farewell? Donna’s goodbye? Amy and the angels? River? You left out some of the best! I’ll give you Donna, since she didn’t technically die. But a better version of herself had to say goodbye. Everyone else not being included is a tragedy.

Eccleston's Doctor had to lay the ground rules of what it meant to be a Time Lord for the new viewers AND reassure the classic Who fans that the series was back. It honestly doesn't matter what happened behind the scenes for the parting of ways for the BBC and Eccleston. The first series of the current Doctor Who ended in the only way it could; by showing the last rule of being a Time Lord...regeneration.
@irrevenant32 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure they could've squeezed in another season before showing that rule without any harm being done.
@cmwinchell2 жыл бұрын
@@irrevenant3 I would like to think so. But I honestly don't think it would have worked for another season. I think without the information on regeneration at the end of that first season they would have lost all of the young people they wanted to capture with New Who on top of trying to make us older Whovians happy. I mean, we know regeneration is going to happen at some point. But the new generation? Given how popcorn instant gratification centric the world was becoming at the time they would have abandoned the show if it happened at the end of any other season.

My favourites are Jack and the Doctor in the Parting of the Ways. Not only was Jack killed by Daleks, but the line "I kind of figured that" in reply to the Dalek's "Exterminate" is brilliant. Although it feels like one of the quicker deaths, Jack must have thought he was going to die as soon as he saw the Dalek ships at the end of Bad Wolf. I also think it is the best regeneration in Doctor Who, just getting on with it, compared to those since (leaving most of the episode for the story), and remaining the most reassuring in his last moments.

Father Octavian? He may have only been in one story but he knew he was screwed, told the Doctor and Amy to move along instead of futilely trying to save him, and held off the Angel that grabbed him as long as he could.

The more you think about it, the worse deal Billy got. Once they knew they had to get a message to a particular person (Sally Sparrow) at a particular time, there were *tons* of ways to ensure she got it. For example, I'm sure UNIT would have been more than happy to deliver a specific message at a specific time for the Doctor. Then, once resolved, Billy could've come back with Martha and Tennant in the TARDIS. But no, Billy has to live through the entire thing the long way round just to drop off a message. WTF, Ten.
