I went to Karns yesterday. The prices on these items and other are rising sharply. I wanted a small bos of jello. $2.00 for a small box of jello, So for now I grabbed two. Yeah, the prices are skyrocketing already and soon these items won't be on the shelves. I'm going to stock what I can given my income and budget. Thank the Lord, it's only me - no family in the sense of no children or husband. We need to prepare now! Little time left to prepare.

I live in Florida, and I can tell you our Governor nipped that Longshoreman's Strike in the bud. He simply said he was going to have the National Guard come in and start unloading freight. And just like that...3 days after the strike began...it was settled. If groceries disappear next month, it won't be because of that.

The farmers can’t afford to raise their crops they are losing their farms because of the water situation they are taxed for everything from the gas to the seeds to the crop example of this would be the farmers going to get the seeds they are charge 500000 dollars to plant 20 acres but this cost the farmers more they pay for water they pay for pumps to pump the water they pay for gas to run the tractor which have break downs that’s more money out of the farmers pocket and the government only lets them plant x amount of crops. So in the end the farmers go under the banks come o fore closes on the farmers land and the farm is sold to the highest bidder the farmers lose their land and their jobs and their lively hood. And their is always an investor who wants the land then they build homes or businesses on the land. So now we are growing people instead of food plus there are people who don’t have the rights to be in this country who are here illegally. Does anyone rich asshole care no not the banks not the government and surely not the investors. This is why we are having food storages. We have had droughts we have had flooding and we earthquakes through out the years and never had storages like today So your global warming B.S. is not the problem it is the people in charge of our country. Period who allow people to take land from other ‘s that doesn’t see that there is a problem farmers should be handed down to their families who know how to grow food and who know what grows well on their land who needs to be treated better because they feed all of us Americans who are born here legally.

A very informative post and very helpful. Prices in my area have already increased and the have stopped the usual sales like buy one and get one half off or buying in packs with a discount. And spices which are important to improve the flavor of older stored goods are astronomical. Life without at least one morning mug of coffee would be painful. And what about those with low income and large families, some also taking care of seniors. Those who can should store enough for others in their families, like the young and seniors who have a very limited budget. Thank you for this scary but true post.

I am one of the lucky seniors. I am the one in my family who can afford to buy for my family. The young ones are struggling to take care of their kids while I live alone and don't need much. I buy for them as well as for myself. We will thrive.

I'm thankful I planted WAY too many tomato plants this year, LOL! My area has a short growing season. Usually all I grow is tomatoes. Half of one of my upright freezers is now full of tomatoes ready to go into stews, made into spaghetti sauce, etc. And tomorrow, I'll be buying a couple of 10 pound bags of Mahatma rice. We are only a family of 3 adults, but tomatoes and rice are major staples in our home.

I’m buying basic tomato 🍅 sauce and adding hamburger, garlic, 🧄, onion 🧅, and shredded carrots 🥕. It’s really good. The only problem is I need the refrigerator for the excess. I can cook enough of sauce, or soups for about 4 days. But if the electricity goes out I will have to just eat a can of soup or vegetables a day. I’m getting a little camper stove so at least I can heat up food. I’ve been stocking up, I’m worried.

I have been working for years trying to stock up. I am still worried. Just do what you can. I can a meat blend with hamburger, sausage, onion, celery, garlic. Can open up what I need and add your sauce and pasta. I think it is called ingredient canning. Canning is one of the best skills to learn.
