Bit late to this party but need to say my piece. When I lived in Vancouver (before I became a barber) I was - without name dropping - client to a very well known barber. Dude' owns multiple shops, has won multiple international awards, has 100K insta followers and is a regular fixture for GQ, and he charges $40CAD for a haircut in 30-45 mins, and I'd be willing to bet that the quality of his work is at the very least on par with Marty's at less than half of the price. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful fade from Marty, I could pick it apart and probably find no flaws in it, but if i spent 90 mins on a fade I could probably produce something of the same quality, but I charge the equivalent of around $40US for a haircut in 45 mins. Not trying to trash Marty in any way but I'd be pretty damn pissed at myself if my cuts were taking longer than an hour unless it was a demo or for a brand promotion or something. What I'm saying is that I feel, as a client, that once you reach a certain price point you hit a ceiling in terms of quality pretty quick and start to see diminishing returns with regards to quality the more your spend past that price point. I don't think any barber can truly justify charging $100 for a haircut alone, as much as I'd love to be able to myself, I'd lose my client base in a day! Hell even the dude that cuts Anthony Joshua and Stormzy charges the same as I do!

Idk my guy , there’s dudes in the hood charging 15 bucks a cut and the cuts are fire ... it’s all about demographics bro ... You can’t be in a poor zone charging $100 that’s a specific clientele to target . Telling barbers in general they could charge these prices is selling dreams it’s unreasonable... now if you doing your own thing and have people willing to pay that price then right on it outside of that it’s false hopes 🤷🏻

@@vvv2k12 if i had the money to pay bossio $100 a cut i 100% would. Just bc you can’t afford it doesn’t mean other people can’t. Niggas be going to the club and spend $100+ and don’t hesitate 💀 You probably cut hair just to cut it bc you’re stuck in that job, if you truly loves it and respected the craft, you would understand that the goal is to get your cuts to that price. Imagine being a barber and not wanting to charge $100, that’s the fucking goal😂😂, you cut 4 people and make $400 PLUS tips, rather than cutting 10-15 people every single day. I’m also a barber. You sound bitter because you have no belief in yourself whatsoever so you get mad at the fact that there’s somebody out there that hustled more than you and can actually charge $100.

I think there is a threshold.... anything under $20 id say is going to be chop shops get in get out with their average cut being a 1 on the side blocked finger length. I would have compared it a $25/ $30 cut vs $100. And see how much comes down to skill and how much comes down to demand. I know plenty barbers who can do 100% flawless cuts but still charging $30 either due to their area or due to lack of demand.

Chris the PIe idea financially can be used to get a tomb 45 clipper. It's that if more people are involved especially since tomb45 is already a respected company I believe many barbers would invest hard into that. I would personally invest money effort and time to design and work day and night to get the ultimate clipper that can definitely be a reality.. don't underestimate how many people would want an orginal clipper. Bclarke said 1 mill units to be produced.. so let's say that between barbers and investors and tomb45 itself the clipper would be a real thing. People want to be a part of something. This idea will be amazing. Idk if you would consider it but you follow me. You can always dm me and see exactly how I think this can happen. And not some re brand junk.

Because when he went to do his job and his finish work was Chris I mean Chris and I see why he gets $100 a cut those are the skills that I wanted to perfect. When I did go to school on straight hair I wanted to be able to cut every type of hair that came into the shop I would have worked at or mine. But I did not get those skills taught to me the way I felt they should have been glad to watch your videos. You show the true meaning of what it takes to become a barber. And how to treat a customer.

I read the coments and i have to laugh, so many peple feel ofended about price of the haircut. Guys if you dont want to pay some amount of money for haircut its fine. But trust me at least here in Europe (i know nothing about business in USA) Cut is only 30% of the work 👍 Chris great work with responding on:" how every barber for 2$ is better than 100$"😂😂👍

I respect the barber industry i enjoy cutting hair im not a licensed barber. Im a truck driver that cuts in my spare time lol. That being said in my opinion no haircut is worth $100. Now im not say no barber should be charging that much because a good barber has put the time and effort into the craft to be able to dictate those prices. I would never pay those prices for a cut which is why i learned to cut hair in the first place. I thought when most barbers started charging $20 back 25 years ago that that was too much. Everybody has something that their willing to pay for that somebody else isn’t. I cant pay that much for something that isnt even gonna look the same or as good the next day thats just me

Yeah, what barbers charge is complex. Like 25 years ago im not sure what minimum wage was, but my view is that whatever minimum wage is, a barber should charge double that because while other things inflate in price, people want the price of a haircut to remain. With 1500 hours of training craxy how people want them to make less than minimun wage per haircut.

No lie, saying that you wouldn’t charge or pay $100 doesn’t change anything or help yourself

Low fade definitely being the more difficult, I don't think the comparison was handled correctly. Not saying it'd come out any different. Just saying high definitely easier.

Ditto. I have to give them props for not having the guy do a taper fade (high or low) & then they do a mid or high fade. Big difference between those 2 in so many areas.
