Another story about Vol. 3 by Slipknot (or really, the band that recorded before them): When Slipknot were first getting settled in at Rubin's mansion, another band was finishing up their sessions. Their lead singer had a freakout one night, and refused to sleep *anywhere* other than the control room. They gave him a cot and let him sleep by the mixer. Whenever Corey tried to ask him about what happened, he said, *"I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING TALK ABOUT IT!!"* As for Vol. 3 itself, apparently the spirits in the house did a remix of one of their songs. Every time they tried to record one particular song and get it mixed down, they'd find it turned into a jumbled mess the next day. Then they'd try to fix it, and get it back to the way it was. Next day, it's a jumbled mess again. So they decided to put it on the album. Once they made that decision, the problem stopped. Ever wondered what that weird interlude between Before I Forget and Vermillion pt 2 was about? Now you know

There is also the story behind Marilyn Manson's "Portrait of an American Family", which was recorded at Trent Reznor's house in LA that also happened to be the site of Sharon Tate's murder. He describes the strange occurrences in "Long Hard Road Out of Hell".

2:37 that is interesting. I didn't know that about RHCP and Slipknot's albums, but Marilyn Manson also recorded the HolyWood album there and multiple band members have also talked about weird experiences there.

The Downward Spiral - Nine Inch Nails. Literally recorded in the Manson murder house. Even some videos from the Broken EP were filmed at and around the house. Also Marilyn Manson's first album was recorded there. Trent dubbed the house "Le Pig" because on the front door the word "Pig" was written. What Reznor didn't know was that the "ink" used was actually dried up blood. Trent didn't know he rented the Manson murder house when he decided to record The Downward Spiral.

The ultimate haunted album, for me at least, is "Spiderland" by Slint. It's a deeply unsettling sounding album and two members of the band has to be briefly institutionalized after its recording because as it turns out, recording an album in 4 days pulling all nighters is bad for your health

Radiohead: in an interview promoting the release of "OK computer", they also said that during the recording, the tape machine would just stop in the middle of a take and start rewinding. They had an engineer come, strip it down and couldn't find a problem. It continued to do it. Engineer came back. Still no problems found. Ironically, they didn't like talking about it because they didn't want the press to call "OK computer" a 'haunted album'!

I swear I read somewhere a long time ago someone from Otep said in an interview that the first track on House of Secrets theres a recording of a ghost's voice in the background. Apparently when you hear what sounds like a man spewing gibberish at the end of the track that wasn't anyone present. The only source I could find was a post on Song Meanings who said Otep posted about it in a blog, but I couldn't find the blog itself, so ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Randy was the smallest in the group...hell, he was the smallest in any group. Months later...plane crash. Ozzy hasn't had anything to do with those infernal things since.

Your brain extremely often fucks around with you. The only time I've experienced "hauntings" were during the time I had the most problems with anxiety and clinical depression. Coincidence?
