Do you know if you can ADD SLOW MOTION to a clip? I see there's a slow motion option on the home screen, but I don't see how to take a clip and edit it to be in slow motion. You know if you want to add a dramatic effect?

Old retired guy here. I have been needing a video editor for putting drone photos and videos together, but was a bit intimidated with just getting started. A LOT of "bells and whistles" packed into Movie Maker Pro. Thank you so much for a very informative and well done tutorial. Everything was to the point and really well explained. I am looking forward to your videos on the many features!

So glad my videos could help. This is an easy to use video maker, which allows you to make videos without too many bells and whistles, but allows you to get the job done. You can also use the companies tutorials (which you may find a familiar voice and style)

This has got to be one of the best online video tutorials I have ever watched....on ANY subject. Your presentation skills (both vocally and visually) were right on point. I downloaded this video production software yesterday. Whereas a lot of it is intuitive, there are no manuals. Because of your tutorial, I had created a test video in a matter of minutes. I have subscribed and will keep an eye out for any further tips you can offer on this. Many thanks!

Hi Peppy Techie. We use Windows 10 Home Edition. We are new users of HD Movie Maker Pro and have created one "movie" with it after frustratingly creating 14 previously using the old Windows Movie Maker. That product frequently would not follow our instructions. We had not watched your excellent tutorial beforehand and things would have been more fully featured and easier if we had not used the new software cold turkey. Now we know better. However, we were plagued by a significant problem which the tutorial did not cover. Our eight-minute project consisted of a series of individual photos to be synched to a soundtrack of our own music and dialog. The individual photos had transitions and were timed for this synch, and as we progressed from the start onward we would play what we had so far to see that the synch was correct. Every time we did this the synch was different, sometimes off by as much as 10 seconds! That is, except when we played the project from the beginning. In that case, the synch was the same as it had been the last time we had played from the beginning, but not for the new photos that had been added since the last check. We spent quite a few frustrating days trying to fix it, to no avail. We finally ran out of patience and posted the "movie" as-is on KZbin yesterday. Is this problem a characteristic of the program or is there a way not to have it happen? HELP, if you can and have the time. If you want to check our results, our channel is mallory & mccall. And thank you once again for your expertise.

Hi, which of your videos did you edit with HD Movie maker? Ill have to look at sound but I think syncing music when editing may be something you can ask and inform the developers. Were you running one song, or different music pieces?
@peppytechie
@peppytechie 4 жыл бұрын
Also, after doing some editing with HD Movie Maker, it is hard to see music and timeline match with this product. One of the ways I have done it, is by saving clips as movies with the edit in recordings, then editing it back in.

Hi Melissa, I get most of my sound effects from Google. There are instructions on Google support: support.google.com/youtube/answer/3376882?hl=en that show you how to get to their free music and sound effects. Download everything you want to use. Also you can download the subscribe buttons from many sites on line. Just search for Free Subscribe buttons. I use LumaFusion on my Ipad to create most of my graphics, as HD Movie maker is very basic and if you want to get more creative you will need to use a bit more advanced software, (many are free as well). HD movie maker is very basic. I love it for making quick videos, but if you are getting more advanced, check out my video on kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5-cqJ57lLCsgqM. Also now free in Windows 11 is ClipChamp and it also easy. I don't pay for any of it, I use only the free stuff. But it is also an option. I hope all this helps. Good luck!

Hi Sison, At this time you can only add 1 track of music and one track of voice narration. A tip: use your phone to record the sound effect: then place the speaker of your phone near your microphone and Poof, you added a sound effect. These inexpensive video editors usually only offer one track of both.

I'm making a lot of cooking procedural videos for school and I want to fast forward through some parts of my videos, for instance, vegetable chopping, without cutting them out (to help cut down on video time and I think it would also look pretty cool!). I'm not even sure what this would be called, maybe time-lapse? Does the pro version offer this feature or is there a workaround for it? Thank you so much for being so skilled and teaching us! That is a good question. Do you know how to show the extension name of files? If so look at the extension name, example .xxx and that may help me to help you. Also, did you know that Microsoft actually has a video editor, it is inside the Photos App (makes no sense to me either), it may open files, but I am afraid I doubt it.

hi thanks for this great tutorial, its helped me tremendously, I am a beginner at this videoing game, i have been using this editor for a while now, but learned things i didn't realise were available so thankyou. I have a question though, when i save a completed edited video, i save it usually to a sd card, however i have noticed my hard drive is nearly full because all the editing files save to the hard drive, should i also have to save these files or can i just delete them, hope i have been clear and hope this is not a silly question but i'm a novice with computers. regards kev

So happy you like the video. If you are done working on the videos and you have saved them then yes you can delete all files that were created in making the video. This is a great point and I will address it in a new video! Thanks for the 💡 idea!! Also make sure you delele the data files, that is where your videos and jpgs even music are sitting.

Good morning. Wonder if you can help. Is there no option to duplicate images and movie sections? I have a vid that requires the same video segments, a few times over. Cant seem to find a way to do this. Kind Regards.
@peppytechie
@peppytechie 3 жыл бұрын
Well, if you are talking about selecting things on the timeline for duplication, no there is no option. You could however take the videos you created and save and re add to video. Using split or trim to get just what you want. You can re add any video clip as many times as you want. I hope I understand your questions correctly.

@peppytechie
@peppytechie 3 жыл бұрын
When asked if something is worth the price, my answer is what are you looking for in a video editor. If you want something simple and easy to use, with nice features, then this is a great little package for the price. Right now for Black Friday the price is 8.99 and to my knowledge, there are no video editing programs that provide you the features that HD Movie Maker does for the price. If you are looking for advanced features, lots of audio and video tracks, then you may be disappointed depending on your needs. Then again, you will pay more for a higher end video editor. You can try the free version, which is the same package and allows you to use most of the regular features. You will find the free version as Windows 10 Movie Maker. You can try it before you buy, which is really nice for you. If you do get the HD version it unlocks the quick tools which provide some nice features. I hope this provides you with some information to make your decision. :-) 😀

Hi Preppy Techie, Love watching your great videos! There's one problem I can't solve ... I'm finally having to give up Windows Movie Maker due to failure to export a completed video (ugh), and that is, making the duration of a photo less than 1 second. In Windows Movie Maker I was able to create a flashing video effect by repeating two still shots 5 times each. Each frame lasted .2 seconds, creating a flashing effect that lasted about three seconds. Any suggestions for a workaround in HP Movie Maker?

Hi Peppy... love your videos. Question: I am trying to add multiple titles at the beginning of my video to give my video a movie feel. However, when title #1 moves to title #2, my background color goes from black to white at about 3 seconds (the duration I set was 5 seconds). So there isn't a seamless transition from title to title. Also, how do you change the transition time? On the old Movie Maker program you would simply click on the transition icon and change the transition duration there. Thanks.
@peppytechie
@peppytechie 3 жыл бұрын
One of the ways to do this is to make the title slide as long as you need it, look in the top right for the time. Then look on the slider on the bottom. You can make one slide with multiple sets of text, each that would be on screen for a short period. For example, set the entire slide to 60 seconds, then add text, go to the slider on the bottom and add an start and end point. Add more text, rinse and repeat. I hope this helps. Let me know! Peppy!

@@peppytechie Thank you for your reply and I am sorry to responding late. Here's what found; it might be a program flaw. If you have, say, 4 back-to-back titles; each with of duration of 6 or 7 seconds, black background (white lettering), the background color turns white at about 2 or 3 seconds. When I changed the title background color to white (black lettering) or any other color (as long as it is not too dark) the transition is seamless. Weird. So I experimented using dark/navy blue. It transition pretty well but the background color would slightly brighten as it transitions to the next title. That never happened with the free Movie Maker. In short, I figured out a workaround. Here's a slide transition test I did. You'll be able to see what I am talking about. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqmyhJh7m9eDhq8
