I dont look for sugary foods - ever. Each point you made I whole heartedly agree with - my results are the proof that for me its all worthwhile. Im 70 years old and feel better than I did years ago. Thanks so much for these tips! My son and 2 Granddaughters live with me and, at 70, I'm finding it much more difficult going into this school year. One is now in 4th Grade and one now starting High School. I'm trying to make them a little more responsible for getting themselves together (I guess I've spoiled them) and now there are no more "free" breakfasts and lunches at school (which were horrible, but easy), so planning those meals is back this year. I've mostly let myself become depressed and unmotivated, which is terrible for me and for the girls. I had decided I would try to start again today to eat better, get a little exercise, read, and stop living on carbs, so this video came just at the right moment (I've been up since 2:30 a.m. after only 4 hours of sleep - another problem). Keep these type of videos coming, please!

Wow where to even begin? So many helpful tips in this video! Thank you for sharing the wisdom you have gained in your journey. I think the two most important points here are your emphasis on finding what works for you and honoring yourself by doing it and secondly that the journey towards health and vitality goes beyond just food. It extends to giving yourself grace, carving out time to nourish yourself and remembering and honouring who you are beyond being a mom, as wonderful as that role is in and of itself. You have paid it forward tremendously to moms and viewers in general with these important reminders. Thank you. Have a lovely day 😊

Such a Informative video. You look amazing Hillary, and the picture of health. I am a plant based eater, I eat vegetables, fruit, whole grain, legumes, and Fat as in avocados, flax seed, nuts. The one great thing about fats is it keeps you full, and I agree it stops all urges to eat sugar. If I wasn’t plant based I would eat just as you do.

I definitely vouch for intermittent fasting. I started it (accidentally) in 2020 & eventually learned that what I was doing was a “thing” & because of it, I’ve lost nearly 60lbs, I’m no longer pre-diabetic & my blood pressure came back down to normal range & I was taken off of meds. I hope you don’t get any negative feedback for sharing that. I know a lot of people can be unsupportive of it.

The thing that changed me was intermittent exercise. I am retired and have arthritis and got into the habit of doing all my indoor and outdoor chores in the morning until I was exhausted and them plopping down in my craft room for the entire afternoon. I injured my back one day and was going to physical therapy at the hospital and they had me doing some exercises three times a day and told me to alternate sitting, standing and moving. Now I give myself an outer limit of one hour to do any one thing, I pace myself. I have so much more energy, get more done and have less pain. I realize I was pushing myself way too hard in the morning and all I did was stiffen up in the afternoon.

Wonderful tips to feeling and looking better! I also drink a lot of water every day and take my water cup with me everywhere I go. I panic more if I forget my water than if I forget my cell phone, lol! I finally cut out my favorite drink "Diet Coke" and switched to flavored seltzer. It took me a while to like seltzers, but it has worked great for me. For seniors in general, moving every day is critical. I suffer with arthritis from multiple knee surgeries, but I walk every day. Anywhere from a half mile to two miles, depending on the weather. Having my little dog helps motivate me. By the way, you are such a beautiful young Mom. Your children are fortunate to have such a lovely and caring Mom as you! You are well loved by this community, dear friend, blessings!💖

This is a really good video! I cut out sugar entirely three months ago, that means no carbs also, introduced more fat (which is keto actually), and I have no cravings at all anymore. I am always satisfied after meals (with two meals a day and doing 16/8). I can now eat without any restraints (for the first time in my entire adult life at 51 years(!!))) and keep my weight, I even lost weight! It's incredible. I think we have been taught completely wrong our entire life. In fact it is really simple: fat is good and sugar is such a bad thing. I read a few years ago, how sugar industry bosses met 40ish years ago and thought of how they could bring people to eat more sugar. It's really unbelievable. Here in Europe we tend to eat less sugar than in the US (I lived for several years in Portland, OR and always found that everything was way too sweet) but still everything is far more sweet than it should be. If just anybody knew this and wouldn't drink sodas etc.there would be no obesity crisis, I'm pretty sure. Thank you again for the video, have a lovely week!

Thank you for watching. My coffee varies, sometimes I will have it earlier around 14-15 hours into my fast and then eat an hour or so later or I will wait and have it with my breakfast. Thank you Hillary for these tips. I think the hardest thing for me to change is my morning coffee. I just want that sweetness first thing. I will try the cinnamon and see how it works. I think if I could change this one thing the rest of my day would go better. Question: How much cinnamon do you put in the coffee- a sprinkle or do you measure an amount. Thank you!
@OldWorldHome2 жыл бұрын
I don’t measure I just sprinkle it in. The heavy cream also adds some sugar-free creamy “sweetness” and sometimes I add vanilla extract 💛
I would suggest that you also cut down the sugar that your children eat. When my son was little he never had candy or sugar, it made a difference in his behavior. I have been on the Keto Diet and everything that you have mentioned is exactly what I experienced. Keep up the good work.

Question: I love fruit, but I want to try the month of sugar-free eating. Did you eat fruit during the month?

I did eat fruit, I cut out refined sugars, but I will say overall I eat a lot less fruit than I used to. Even though it is natural, it’s still sugar, and like I said I just don’t crave sweet things much at all

Satiety over willpower...wow. What a light bulb moment ✨️ I mean I think you know I'm pretty health conscious about the way we eat in our home but I still like everyone else can fall into that old trap (like before my impending trip to hawaii) and think I should deprive myself of a few even healthy high fat foods to feel better in my bathing suit 🤦♀️ thanks for the reminder 😌 and these were all just wonderful inspiring tips friend ❤️ btw your eyeliner is on point 🙌 I know I know 🤦♀️ I'm a weird gal 🤷♀️🤣😘

I appreciate your approach to quality living. So much is common sense but common sense seems not so common any more.
