I present the top 10 incredible reasons I love Vietnam, and why you should move here right now!
Vietnam is a very special country with so much to offer. To make this video balanced, I go over not only the positives of moving to VN, but I also highlight some of the possible drawbacks.
I moved to Viet Nam in 2017 and it was the best decision of my life.
Feel free to leave any comments you have as I'm always happy to hear from you all. Hope you like the video. Thanks for watching!

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A TEACHER ABROAD??:
For those of you interested in an excellent TEFL course that you help you become an English teacher in Vietnam and anywhere else in the world, I highly recommend the Ninja Teacher course. I am providing an affiliate link here that you can click on, and if you do choose to sign up, I will get a small commission at no additional cost to you, which will help support this channel. If you don't use the below link but let the Ninja teacher school know that Tyler Bentley recommended the course to you when you sign up, I will also receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
academy.ninjateacher.com/?aff...
There are lots of TEFL course options out there, but I recommend this course for several reasons. Ninja Teacher helps you learn how to become a teacher with real in-class teaching experience and hands on training AND gives you excellent job placement assistance. They will make sure they do everything in their power to get you a great teaching job once you have finished the course. What’s more, you will automatically be linked up with several other students who are also training to become teachers. So for those of you concerned about making friends once you are here in Vietnam, that will eliminate those worries. You also join the Ninja Teacher alumni group, a group of supportive teachers who will be there to help you with any part of your journey teaching abroad.

Thank you for your time and posting. You can now play pickleball in HCMC. That's right. :) I'm 70, are the grandmas looking good? ;) I grew up in Van Nuys, it was a great place in the 50s and 60s. The only thing I worry about is renewing the 90-day visa; leaving, coming back, etc. I'll be there in September 2024.

I lived in Da Nang, Vietnam for 1.5 years during the pandemic. It turned out one of the best places to get stuck at that time. I didn't like it at first - all the incessant motorbike beeping drove me nuts. Then I got a better place, 5 minutes from the beach, and lived like a local. Of course, a few months in I didn't want to leave. Then they kicked all of us tourists out - had enough of us he he. I miss Vietnam and will be coming back soon. Made some good friends there. Fond memories...

@@johnalex5466 I was lucky to have stayed there till July '21, and that's when all hell broke loose there, as I've heard. But before Covid had really hit, it was the best place to be. It is a very collectivist society, unlike the west, so if you want to be there, gotta take that into account. Overall, I think it's good to stay mobile, keep your eyes and ears open, and be ready to move. I wouldn't want to live permanently anywhere at this point - meaning being too invested in one location.

Vietnam strives to distribute development evenly. The cost in Vietnam is cheap because the country produces food and agriculture is not a big problem, especially the government eliminates a lot of taxes so that people can freely accumulate and freely choose appropriate social security services. suitable for them

I’m glad you’re out there helping the Vietnamese people learn English so they can have a better future
@BigTimeBentley
@BigTimeBentley Жыл бұрын
I’m happy to help anyone learn anything I have knowledge about. Currently English is the international language of diplomacy, and as such it’s beneficial for non-native English speakers to learn English. But I derive less satisfaction from the actual ‘helping people learn English’ as I do from helping people grow in general. I’m in a uniquely qualified position to teach English to Vietnamese people as I’m an apt native speaker of English, and I’ve been here long enough to understand the nuanced difficulties that native Vietnamese speakers face when learning English. But overall I’m just happy to help people live a better life in general. If that’s teaching them English, that’s great. If that’s making KZbin videos that encourage people to travel and expand their horizons, that’s fantastic too. I hope that my brief presence here on Earth can bring as much joy and happiness to others as possible.

@@prunecuda1 yes, I am in the process of applying for my Vietnamese passport. I’ve been retired in VN for a year already, and I absolutely LOVE it here. I’ve also had the opportunity to scout out a few coastal towns like đà Nẳng, Phân Thiếc, Nhà Trang, & Quy Nhơn (am a beach person). I chose VT for now due to its proximity to Saigon. it is not that difficult to move here, especially if you can still speak & read the language, and willing to be a minimalist, so you can travel light. I am currently renting a 1 bedroom condo within 10 min walk to the beach, and has a full, direct view of the beach off my 19th floor balcony for less than $300/month, including all utilities, private wifi, & management fee. I’ve managed to pare down my life into 3 suitcases, and the rest are in storage tubs in my sister’s garage back in the US. I have no desire to own any furniture nor pets, so I can have the freedom to solo travel as much or as little as I like.

Been to Vietnam 7 times since 2017. Last trip was 2023. Everything you mentioned was true. One other negative (although it doesn’t bother me) is locals will give you the “tourist” price if you appear western. For example a dollar extra for a beer or a couple of extra dollars for a taxi. Like I said I really don’t care but for some people it’s a big deal.

PSA for english teachers in vietnam. (1) the number one tool for bad students are the parents. they hate to pay and have their kid act up in class...(2) also, the students respect the teacher. in viet culture, a teacher is one notch below the parents (family) in terms of respect. (3) you don't feel like you just got slap with every pay period. hello, USA. thanks, for the vid. cheers all.

We prefer cool weather. We wonder if Dalat May be a good choice ? I grew up in Florida and never got used to the awful heat n humidity. We are traveling to many countries over the next 5-10 years, looking for our favorite retirement city. We are traveling between Mexico and Argentina and currently living in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Our total costs here run about $1100/month for both of us all in.
@BigTimeBentley

Dalat definitely has cooler, less humid weather. It's a smaller, relatively more isolated town, so if you prefer big city attractions that may be something to consider. With the current cost of rentals being a bit high in Saigon at the moment, $1100 for two people may work but it may be a little bit tight. You could also consider living in Danang which would be cheaper overall. Good luck with your travels and I hope you enjoy yourselves. If you're interested in some Mexico travel content, I have some of that on my channel from last year. Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting.

You're on point with all your reasons. However, I just want to add to your reason 4 in term of eating food in VN. Food poisoning does happen but the main reason for people having upset stomach is the probiotic that you ingest here is different so it's just a matter of building a comparable one over a period of time.
