How do these games change your life? I have played all of them but I wouldn’t say that they saved me from dying or that I came to a conclusion about life and existence from playing them. I had fun but that isn’t life changing if you ask me.

You gotta play Outer Wilds. This game is magic. It does nothing like the other games and it works insanely good. The dlc is the best of all time along with the Bloodborne one too

I picked up Hollow Knight at a discount price of 50% at 2022, played for an Hour, had a bit of fun, then bought Elden Ring, had lots of fun, and after that I played other games and forgot about it. I picked it up again 2 days ago out of boredoom and I have to say, It's amazing, the Mantis Lords fight was beautifully executed and now at 10 hours I feel that there is still so much content to explore, can't wait to finish this game!

This was a great list and honestly solid picks but coming from my own subjective experience, I would have Inside in my list. I have gained a deeper appreciation for story telling and video game production because of that game coming from Insides phantasmagorical concept of visual representation and its sound design is just peak. I was so happy to see Death's Door on here. I really loved that game. The combination of elements from Dark Souls and The Legend of Zelda scratched an itch that nothing else ever has, for me personally. All around banger video. I'm definitely gonna play some of these!

The intro very much spoke to me. The games I play are 90% indie. I've been an XBox player for a while but recently got a Steam Deck in particular to play all the amazing PC only indie games. Having said that, I've also been loving games like God Of War and Horizon that I couldn't get on the XBox . There's definitely a place for both, but AAA games are like Hollywood blockbusters. They cost so much to make that they have to have a wide appeal. The real innovation will always be in the indie world.

Here are some suggestion you might enjoy since you placede HK in 1st place: - Yoku's island express - MV + pinball, trust me, it is amazing - Astalon Tears of the earth - Another MV masterpiece, deserves a lot more of spotlight - Prince of Persia the lost crown - HK with more budget, Ubisoft didn't drop the ball here - Tunic - still think Death's door is beter, however, Tunic is going to be right around your alley Bonus shortvania - Gato roboto, 3 hours of pure fun. The story telling of Blasphemous franchise is just breath taking and so deep. It's incredibly well written and composed with the art style and gory vibes. We have to give credit to it. It's hauntingly immersive, the atmosphere is just fantastic.

The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile may even be more insane where it concerns VERY fast-paced 2D hacking, slashing and cubic buttloads of blood. The fact that the weapons include the likes of katanas, meat cleavers, a chainsaw prostethic, a brick on a stick wrapped in spiky bits, a giant syringe, a panini iron and more can attest to that.

Hollow knight is also my favourite game, on my first playthrough i was quite skeptical whether on not it was worth it, but then i entered the city of tears and i decided it was my favourite game of all time. The combat, exploration, boss battles, lore and soundtrack made this game like no other, and for such a low price too! I would do anything to experience it for the first time again, it was just magical

You have good taste about indie games, very similiar to mine with HK and katana zero being one of the best. Keeping with theme I would really recommend you to try SANABI it is an amazing game with great story, art, platforming, music and combat. You play as a retired soldier with a chain rail arm and the world building is just amazing. Do give it a try I know you’ll love it.

Yes, finally someone talks about the Little Nightmares games. They are so unique and just feel so damn memorable. I hope more people play them because they’re a great example of how short games can be as or if not more fulfilling than longer games. They’re an experience, and one that you’d wish you could play again for the first time.

I know my comment was probably already said, but please play Tunic, it has that sense of exploration and combat in a well built world that is diverse yet really coherent. The puzzles you encounter or get back to feel amazing to solve, and gives you that "Wait, it was here THE WHOLE TIME ??" and makes you feel like a genius

I loved FIST. I bought it on release, and got the platinum trophy when info for the game online was scarce. I remember unsuccessfully trying to look up solutions to some trophies and eventually having to figure it out myself.

I'm not a person who replays the same game over and over again. There's just not too much time and I have to spend it with new things, but man, Hollow Knight is the ONLY game that made me come back to it like 2 or 3 times again. And a huge part of this is because of the soundtrack. I sometimes play it on the background just to relax and it gives me this feeling of nostalgia and I feel the need to experience it through the game again. 10/10 for sure in every aspect. Also my gf who's not a gamer also loves this soundtrack 😂

Subscribed. A list like this would almost look identical if I made it. The only replacements I would make are because I haven't played some games on this list (FIST, Sifu, Blasphemous 2) and one because I feel another game fits that spot a bit better for me (Hotline Miami instead of Katana Zero). Also, I raise you Bastion over Transistor, I have been a fan of Supergiant ever since I battle through those cloudy fucks.

@@jacobmstevens Sifu is actually on my short-list of what single player games to play next, and FIST has popped up on Steam once or twice just never really gave it a good look, didn't even know it was a Metroidvania. I'll also play Blasphemous 2 at some point, just wanted to do a re-play of Blasphemous first since I've only played the vanilla version and haven't seen all the bosses they've added with the free DLCs since then. Also, instead of the three games from your list I haven't played, I'd probably add Limbo, Darkest Dungeon and FTL to my Top 10. Limbo was the first small indie game I picked up just because of how cool it looked, and it really opened my eyes to the greatness of Steam's Greenlight section back then. FTL then managed (alongside Hotline Miami) to really get invested into the indie gaming scene. Darkest Dungeon just felt like a game that was specifically made for me. Tactical combat, rogue-lite elements, lovecraftian horror with an atmosphere full of dread, and a great narrator. Just loved it. Honourable Mentions just off the top of my head: Super Meat Boy, Devil Daggers, Darkwood, A Hat in Time, Outer Wilds, The Sexy Brutale, Celeste, Roadwarden, Baba is You, and some others.

I bought a switch to play Zelda botw. I discovered hollow knight and have barely touched Zelda. Ori is awesome and I’m looking forward to playing FIST after watching your video. Thanks for sharing!
