Outer Wilds is by far the greatest game ever made, putting Rain World above it is straight up incorrect. I don’t get mad at opinions because yes opinions are opinions but like he’s trying to choose what encompasses the genre best and if he’s played Outer Wilds and doesn’t see why it’s the greatest game ever made then I don’t know what he’s smoking. I love Rain World to bits, it’s literally my second favorite game of all time, but there is nothing that Rain World does better than Outer Wilds. Every flaw I could possibly think of is not a flaw because the game is a simulation of space which means things are naturally going to be unfair or random sometimes. Any puzzle that can feel bullshit is actually just because you’re thinking about the puzzle the wrong way. Every unintentional solution to puzzles is left in because you’re supposed to experience the game how you want to. It’s truly a flawless game.

Strongly recommend The Messenger to anyone who happens to see this comment. Its an incredible ninja gaiden style 2d platformer that pays hommage to both the 8bit and 16bit era of gaming. I personally never could get into Outer Wilds, and I don't really know why. I had around 3 hours on it, got to the guy on the mars-like planet, and then got completely lost. Maybe it has something to do with the exploration? The 2D landscape of RainWorld is much simpler to traverse, and I never felt stuck in a single area for too long. I'm very into biology, and it's ecosystems entranced me. Or I could just be a simple-headed combat enjoyer who felt satisfied after killing a single enemy which has terrorized me for thousands of cycles. Either way, the games are very different at their core, and I'm probably just someone who enjoys Rainworld because of its genre.

I personally think that A Hat in Time is the best indie 3d platformer, simply because of its endless potential. The amount of mods and custom levels, both of which are officially supported and even shared by the developers, make it so you always have SOME kind of content to do. Combine that with the relatively simple movement, and you have a game that I've sunk hundreds of hours into.

The card game mechanics of Inscryption are excellent, but would argue that Slay the Spire is even better in that regard, and, while I haven't played Balatro yet, I find it plausible that it has better card play than Inscryption too, given the discourse surrounding it.

In the depths of steam, there's a truly hidden gem of Indie Card Games, called Rungore. This is a roguelike card autobattler without turns and ANY limit. The only limit that this game has is how many numbers can the engine process at once. One time, I stuck at the boss for 3 days because of how much shield I stacked and how little damage I had. I played undertale and Omori and i completely confused. Yes, Undertale is one of the best indi games ever, but, in MY opinion, omori just more complex.

Ah... No. Omori is a good game, but its RPG system is archaic and outdated. I mean, everything that makes people dislike this genre is exactly where Omori leans into the most. Unnecessarily long dungeons, hours of grinding to progress, and especially its overly simplistic turn-based combat with no truly creative additions-where the meme of pressing just one button feels very real here. All of this makes the game quite tedious to play. For a work that aims to focus on telling its story, this heavily undermines the experience.

@victorsoares9236 Ye, you right, but i think if rate omori message and undertale message, omori probably more deeper. I think omori is kinda art, but want to be a game too. Maybe the truth is that we are both right.

I agree. I feel like people say undertale is better just because of what it did OUTSIDE the game itself. If you look at the game itself, I’d say omori is better in every way (well maybe not humor as undertale has more) I’m not biased! If omori wasn’t as good as I say it is, it wouldn’t be my favorite game of all time!! Don’t get me started on black space… oh absolute masterpiece of a segment
