the gun thing in Charlie's Angels is a little odd, but it did require the movie to get more creative in it's action scenes. And the sequel kind of made it a plot point, with Demi Moore's character specifically saying that her era of Angels used guns and demonstrated how much quicker an action scene would be finished if you just shot your opponent.

@DarthWoodrack9 күн бұрын
The morality of using underage actors is highly debatable, especially when a lot of shows about teenagers are rated above the age range of those teenagers. Teenagers are better, like fifteen and up, but younger than that, it’s generally the parents pushing them into the job, and that has a wildly mixed bag of results. Take the chaos going on with the actor who played Kid Loki, who ended up homeless because his parents took all of the money he made from the Loki tv show. That’s not as rare as one would hope.

@@tehlaser I was a bit hasty in my comment. I should've said "None of these are "insane rules" as most of the things listed were pretty run of the mill. That said, to answer your question, I define a rule as a stated regulation imposed on an individual or group with a clear penalty from those in authority if breached. Moreover, a rule is generally agreed upon by those under the regulation beforehand. The legal restrictions are clearly rules under this definition. In my view, though, most of what were called rules in this video felt more like guidelines or impositions. What if the Angels used guns in the movie? Then it'd be just like the TV show where they did use guns. What if Green Lantern used a normal cloth costume? It might've been a better movie. Can't say mafia in the Godfather? More like they didn't want to risk offending the mafia. The penalty in each case is ambiguous at best and the authority for the rules is themselves. That means the creatives in charge could change the rules if they didn't like them. That's why I didn't feel like they were "rules" but rather choices.

But didn't jimi Hendrix's music go into the public domain a few years after that bio pic was released??
@paulkennedy87018 күн бұрын
No. Not till 70 years after his death. (And after the death of other songwriters for ones he didn't write, like "All along the Watchtower". Bob Dylan is still alive.)

The only reason why #10 exists is BECAUSE of the legal issues. EON productions knew at this point that they couldn't use the name Blofeld or the organization SPECTRE and they knew that McClory was about to be able to produce Never Say Never Again (and I think at this time they knew that Connery was going to star in it). So the whole scene is a big middle finger to McClory and that production. If the competing movie was not going to be made I think the scene never would have been shot.

Yeah, it was just sending a message. Eon productions knew Blofeld would be in the upcoming (and competing) Never Say Never Again, so they invented a very rushed and jokey pre-credits opening killing him off (or at least a facsimile of him).

SPECTRE (and by association Blofeld) was the leading villain of the Connery/Lazenby Bond films (except for Goldfinger) and having Blofeld's fate left ambiguous at the end of Diamonds Are Forever this let EON close out SPECTRE/Connery's Bond and start fresh with Roger Moore.
@snowdenwyatt62769 күн бұрын
@@nosliwec For Your Eyes Only was Moore''s fifth turn as Bond and he only had three more after it. The scene wasn't about closure or starting fresh, it was about trying to insult McClory and company. EON was more than happy to go back to the SPECTRE/Blofeld well after McClory's estate sold the rights back to them.

Well my respect for J.K. Rowling just went up another notch.

Creates biopic about one of the greatest musicians in the history, doesn't use his music... Don't get me wrong, I get the rights issues, but then the movie shouldn't even have been made.

Having read the His Dark Materials books, as well as the Golden Compass movie, I think this was all it a bit much. I remember hearing this big controversy about how this was a big pro-atheist book, I found it to be pretty tame and just not all that original in the way it was written. The book felt a bit like a throwback in terms of being a more adult feeling book written apparently for kids.

Yeah, I always felt the Golden Compass was a weak attempt at trying to make an atheist remix of the vastly superior Lord of the Rings or Narnia series. The ideas were weakly derivative at best, and mostly showed the vacuousness of the effort.

The producers of The Golden Compass didn’t want to offend Christians? What were they planning to do for the part where the main character saves life, the universe, and everything by losing her virginity?

Having a british movie that takes place in britain use only british actors makes so much sense. I kind of wished they did that for the witcher show(polish). It likely would have turned out far better.

Come on, Henry Cavill was perfect for the title role, and Joey Batey was excellent, too. The show's issue was not the nationality of the cast.

His Dark Materials is an excellent adaptation and keeps all the anti religion context that The Golden Compass had to drop.

Yeah, I can see Kevin Costner playing Snape instead of the late great Alan Rickman. It would have been awful.
