Does 3.0sd 286 have two turbos like 3.5 286?

I thought the 3.0sd was rebadged to the 35d in the latter part of 2008. I think the engines are the same. Mine is definitely the twin scroll turbos and is a 3.0sd 👍

A 2018 X5 would be the F15 The E70 ran till 2014 however the F15 shared the same chassis and wheelbase as the E70 I think 🤔👍

The N57 engine replaced the M57 in 2010.

Im pretty sure my 2012 NA spec X5D has the M57. I had the vin decoded to make sure of it because I wanted to know if my car was going to have a heavier front end (M57 is a couple hundred pounds heavier)

@@maudlewis8536 You could be right, but my Euro Cold Climate spec 2013 Xdrive 30D has the N57 engine. And ofcourse the ZF HP8-70 transmission.

Not built to last past warranty period. Brittle plastics , questionable design decisions, horrific problems to even exist in a 21st century motor vehicle such as rain water entering the cabin . But apart from that, beautiful styling that aged well and a good availability of secondhand parts to choose from.

180k miles on my x5 diesel and all it does is tow a 22ft trailer with cars and trucks on it, no leaks noises or lights on, still looks like a low mileage unit. The m57 variants are great.

Mine is on 90k miles for an 2008 and i'm in the UK so it has a fairly easy life TBH. My local BMW specialist told me the M57s are bullet-proof when properly maintained. It's when owners cut corners that issues can arise. I have to agree with @boss290t that some of the ancillaries, bodywork and interior are not the best quality and @chase, yours on 180k wow, solid effort. Great to hear from other owners. They do drive and look really good still IMO.

@@GeesDrive Yes sir, if you can delete the EGR/DPF system they really don’t have many issues, I have a buddy here with 290k miles on his, original engines and transmission. Maintenance is always key though.

@Andrew Ball Interesting to read your ownership experiences. I would agree in terms of build quality having owned and worked on generations and models from E46 325i all the way up to an F31 340i Touring. Glad to hear you are safe and well following your crash, the E70 is even by today's standards a safe car. In doing some detailed reading into the E70, the body shell construction accounted for a vast improvement on the E53 in torsional strength while saving weight. Also pedestrian safety was improved with aluminium panels and disengaging bonnet hinges. Many thanks for taking time to comment.
