Hi Sir Wade! Can you talk about MoCap? I see lots of people on LinkedIn who work as MoCap Technical Artist... but where can I study to be a MoCap Technical Artist? There are lots of online Animation schools (Animation Mentor, iAnimate, AnimSchool, AnimSquad, etc) and lots of Animation courses in prestigious universities but I can’t find a Motion Capture course anywhere! Where can I learn MoCap from scratch? (for reference, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and I have studied animation, including 2D, stop-motion and now 3D).

Also jumping on board to request more info on animation/VFX pipelines. There's very little detail available online and a lot of the lecturers in schools haven't worked that high in the field (or at least haven't for a long time) and don't give out a lot of information either. Letting people know what their options are as they join the industry would be extremely beneficial and help students focus their study.

The Art Department is also another big area with tons of job opportunities. A lot of people and students don't know about this and think that most of the asset creation is solely done by the animators or programmers, when in fact there is a whole separate department for asset creation at most studios. There are Character Artists that focus on modeling and sculpting characters before handing them off to the Riggers and Animators, there are Environment Artists that build out the assets for the virtual set, there are Prop Artists, 2d and 3d Concept Artists, Clothing Artists, Face Sculpting Artists, Blend Shape Artists, Resurfacing Artists, Texture Artists, Look Dev Artists, Lighting Artists. The list goes on. There are SO MANY job opportunities in the CG industry. It's sad that a lot of people don't know about this and think that being an Animator is the only fun and artsy job in the industry. This video and videos like this are great ways of educating students about all the amazing opportunities that lie ahead. Looking forward to seeing more content like this!

Everyone seemed to also say the same thing about being an animator or story board artist when we talked to some of the recruiters. But just walking around their cubicles I saw there's WAY more jobs than just being the main 3. Heck, they have a freaking VR Studio!! That's so sick!!

I went from wanting to be an environmental artist, to prop artist, to modeling, and then I was like they are fun but it's something I wasn't too passionate about. Now animation. Clicked with me in a different way. Basically movements and emotions I find fascinating. And will spend hours upon hours of researching and acting out my own shots as reference. Went from wanting to be working on video games to I want to work on a tv show if I can. I am still learning rigging because I myself want to learn just in case a rigger is needed as well. But I went through everything before I found out what I loved XD

I'm about to go to college for animation, very excited, but I feel it's incredibly important to learn more about the industry. I love 3D art, and while I'm full steam ahead in my choice of degree, I gotta say I have not even THOUGHT about what I'd wanna do in the pipeline, I've dabbled in modelling, compositing, a LITTLE animation, texturing, lighting, etc. But havent found my niche yet, which is another thing college will help me accomplish. As you said, the answer typically is "I wanna be an animator" but it kinda ends there Its hard to think about alllll the things that go into it. Definitely hope you expand on this more in the future!

@@sergsergesrgergseg from what I know, you need sponsorships to work at other countries. I want to hear which studios are great to work for in London though

This is really cool thanks for this Sir. I would love to try the Production aspect but seeing how I never studied Business or Production management I can't really see myself getting a job with production with no prior experience. but I am good at organizing and timing out when to get things done and how long it should take and I do enjoy doing that. didn't realize there was a whole world for that lol XD I want to try it but wonder how to get started.

Most people I know didn't have any experience in it to begin either! It's a super common entry-level role for an intern so no sweat if you don't have the business background! On the job learning :)

Would you do a video on what it's like to be/pass from Animation university? I am going to graduate in 6 months and I have no idea what universities teach in animation or graphics creation. I don't know what to apply for, for getting into animation industry.

You could probably focus on this area of discussion for the rest of your lifetime and still have content, please keep going!
