Sailboat keels were made out of either cast iron or lead, typically not both. They are fastened to the hull with built in keel bolts. It looks like someone just cut the fiberglass hull around the keel to remove it. A magnet will tell you right away what it is or scraping some of the material. I'd scrape the lower portion as the upper part might have fiberglass on it.

That's good to know because we were thinking that the inside of it was lead and that the outside was steel to protect the lead. Because lead is very malleable.

Not normally, the houses are normally not older than 1980. 1960 houses are rare here.

From the research I did the keels are lead encased by in steel, the lead is too soft it needs to be encased to hold up.

With the marble top it is custom made so might be hard to sell that to someone like that. It would then be an off cut really and off cuts sell for less maybe for a few hundred. But start at $1,000 see how you go I’m sure someone will bargain with you

We sell 50K to 60K In Granite or Marble or other hard surfaces a year. I have a guy they can get who cut the tops for them.
