It’s more on heartbroken story than that. He is actually a sports kid. But suddenly he got into injuries that prevent him from continuing his only thing that time. He got into depression because of that and only lock himself and not doing anything. His dad end up telling him to go and do whatever he want. Thus he went out and started to do part times, rent a rooftop like what we see in kdramas, do some small roles. His mental health are better after that.
