Super helpful... I often feel most overwhelmed with my monthly... I struggle with how to use it functionally when I already have the weekly pages. I find them most useful if they are for writing down the big events as they are scheduled... but then the monthly pages aren’t designed yet... how far in advance do you do the monthly pages in your planner?

So I prep my monthly’s about 10 days before the next month starts, but a tip is to use stickies on your blank monthly for upcoming events until you are ready to decorate. That way you’ll know what is coming up beforehand and can design your spread accordingly. Also, if you only carry one or 2 months at a time, think about making yourself a future plans sheet so you can plan months in advance. It is a horizontal planner with a travel theme. It only goes through 2019 so it will be hard to find. I’ll try and find a link if I can. 😁👍🏼

Yes, I think you mean the new “monthly layout” with the daily tasks and such, yes? I just picked up that layout for 2020 so I hope to do a layout video in late January or February once I get familiar with it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi! The first couple of monthlies you show--what planner are they from, or an expansion pack? I haven't been able to find any that are really blank like that! The expansion I have has shaded weekends :-\

How do you know or control when birthdays and appointments fall? It seems to make the monthly part of a planner mostly useless

Many decorating options can be used with a schedule for functional planning. Box stickers can be added on top of decor if there is something that pops up unexpectantly, but many people know what is coming up in the month before decorating. Also, not everyone uses the monthly layout for scheduling. I have used it for memory keeping, health tracking, social media, etc. so the layouts shared can be tailored to various functional needs.
