I wish you were my professor. I’ve taken chemistry three times now. I can not grasp it and the professors speak to me like I’m dumb because I’m dyslexic. You taught me more in 48 min then three semesters
I am Anu from India and I am so happy by all the professors of MIT. They teach do good and I can't express my happiness by the text.😃😃😘😘😃

The problem with the CSN structure can be easily solved if we base the central atom on the basis of lowest group number or EN instead of lowest ionisation energy.

10:34 , does anybody knows where the 2, 8 and 8 comes from? I don't understand, I thought we were supposed to get to 8 valance electrons to complete, shouldn't it be 4 for C and 3 for N??
@summydays411 Жыл бұрын
see she is talking about how many valence electrons each element would have if they were fully filled for H it would be 2 for C it would be 8 and for N it would be 8 , she isn't talking about how many more electrons we have to add to complete the octet. hopefully i was able to explain

@@summydays411so this steps can use to make lewis structure with octet exception i mean you can try with bh3

Many courses have recitations where students can go to ask questions. This is especially true for large courses. If everyone had a chance to ask questions during the lecture, it would slow everything down.

Volume and confidence from the lecturer, but Fluorine does not "want" 8 electrons in its outer shell. A Fluorine atom does not "want" anything. By sharing one electron from its Valence shell it forms an F² molecule, covalently bonded, and its Valence shell meets the octet rule, and it's reactivity reduces... but I have yet to see her explain why this is more stable and less reactive than the free atoms. In the next lecture the O² double bond is explained and we are told "it's not a double bond" - I'm itching to ask questions
@toorisentou3 жыл бұрын
I still cannot get over the fact that were people who chose flourine has 8 valence electrons for the clicker question
@tinyr1012 жыл бұрын
Some people may have misclicked or this might be their very first chemistry course or English isn't their native language (MIT accepts a good amount of international students) ect. Either way, the reason they're taking the course is to learn. Good for you if you found the question easy to answer.
@toorisentou2 жыл бұрын
@@tinyr101 oh. I was honestly confused because the students are generally accepted if their scores since 9th standard is topp notch. So this simple question should've gotten more votes imo. Thanks for answering 🙂
