Linear playing in drumming is when no two drums are played at the same time. This idea is frequently used in fills.
Here we have 10 linear fill ideas, gradually getting harder as we go.
All fills are played slowly first at 60 bpm, then fast at 120 bpm.
Change the playback speed if you require a different tempo for practicing.

8 lessons in at Guitar Center and being able to sight read drum music and understand where each piece in the drum kit, including cymbals is written on the bar ( as notes ) within the staff is a complete game changer. This is all on the Tube if one knows how to 🏄 surf. Once you can read what note to play when...slowly speeding up, you can play any drum cover.

hi, first of all thanks a lot for all the vidéos on the channel it's very usefull. Ive a question, im left-hunded but playing with drums setup for right hunded so i play like a right hunded. But i have more feeling starting a fill with my left hunded hand, could this become a problem as you progress? Because I'm still a beginner and I wouldn't want to develop a technique that would prevent me from progressing later. thanks in advance. Best

We tell right handed players to practice open handed all the time (playing left handed on rh set ups, aka lh cymbals rh snare). There’s nothing wrong with just choosing to play open handed. Check out Luis cole, Billy cobham, Lenny white, Dennis Wilson, Mike mangini for some inspiration, not all of these players play open handed all the time but they’re all people who’ve displayed it at high levels. So yeah start left handed on your fills, just like Ringo did, nothing wrong with that

Plz divide the speed tempo into more specific. Only two kinds of tempo is too short and difficult for beginners,

Fill 3? It’s sixteen consecutive 16th notes, which is 4 beats. The kick drum is on the (a) in the 1 e + a, 2 e + a, and 3 e + a, and then just 4 e + a is all on the snare.
