Ok so let me get this straight. If y'all go to a concert and the music and artist move you, you don't sing along or cheer to show them appreciation? Most artists out there will tell you they feed off of the audiences energy and it helps them perform better. Sitting there like a corpse and not giving them a response has the exact opposite effect. And it's not just a US thing either. Watch concert or show clips from all over the world. I think you'll find audiences scream, cheer and/or sing along with the artist regardless of their culture or country.
