Heyo! Mitch and Day here 👋🏼
We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes 💃🏻. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married 👰🏻🤵🏼
Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online 👨‍💻👩‍💻
Our goal with these videos is to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, give you an inside peek at our crazy imperfect lives, and show you that you don’t have to be rich to live an extraordinary life...all you need to do is make the choice!

Thanks for the tips! Re: flights buying a through ticket is not always the cheapest. I was looking for a roundtrip from Bali to Los Angeles. The cheapest fare was around $1,000- USD at the time. (we have no non stop so you must transit en route). So I looked at buying two roundtrip tickets instead. Bali to Hong Kong return $280- and Hong Kong to LAX return for $400-. First on Cathay Pacific and second roundtrip on Hong Kong Airlines. I overnighted in Hong Kong each way which I prefer to on long trips. Helps so much with the jet lag. I worked as a Travel Agent for 20 years so that is how I know this trick. You can connect straight through but it is a risk when interlining carriers, just in case the first airline should be delayed. The second carrier will not refund you for missing the flight.

This is an awesome tip, Brenton! Thanks for sharing! We have had similar results whenever flying to Cali, Colombia from the states. It seems like it’s often cheaper to buy round trip flights to Miami, and then from Miami to Cali. The only slight downside to that plan (apart from the risk of missing the second flight) is if you have any checked bags, you have to pay for them twice, and if you have a long layover, you might be stuck lugging them around until you can check in for the second flight. But many times it still ends up being much cheaper!

Hey! Yeah since it’s different everywhere, you should be able to just search in google “shoulder season in (country)”. Or if that doesn’t work, search for high and low season, and shoulder season would be right between them :-)

Hey Hernando, make sure to check out our videos about Egypt on our channel, there's lots of good info in there! But for flights, I would see if you can buy them with points to save money. That's what we did. Since you are a US resident, you have access to travel credit cards that give you sign up bonuses with tons of miles/points that you can use on flights. As far as hostels go, you can choose hostels or guesthouses - accommodation is extremely affordable in Egypt, so you should have no problems there. You can check out your options on sites like Booking.com (or Hostelworld if you want to stay in hostels). I hope this helps!

@ProjectUntethered

Sometimes it’s cheaper and other times it’s more expensive. I’d say the decision should come down to how flexible you are. We almost always buy one way because we never know where we want to go next

I recommend booking directly with the airlines if possible because third-party sites can be a pain to work with if something goes wrong.

Which credit cards are best for traveling? I have Capital 1. Like Holiday Inn card or airline?
@ProjectUntethered
@ProjectUntethered 9 ай бұрын
There are lots of good one but the venture x is my fav if you travel often and can take advantage of the benefits it offers. If not, sapphire preferred is usually the other popular option (which I also have and use). In the end, I think it’s smart to determine your dream trip, then choose whichever card will make it possible. Both Venture x and CSP are pretty flexible though so they work well in many cases.

Is it worth paying the 5.99 mthly subscription for thrifty traveler?
@ProjectUntethered
@ProjectUntethered 3 жыл бұрын
I have used Scott’s cheap flights membership, but haven’t tried thrift traveler yet (I think it’s very similar). If you find just one flight using their service, it’ll pay your subscription fee many many times over. That said, I found that there the number of deals that come out depend on which airport you’re near. I’d try out the free subscription first to see how you like it. Or maybe just one month of paid to test it out to see if it’s worth it to you. It also kind of depends how flexible you are. Because if you find an awesome deal but don’t have the freedom to take it, it kind of defeats the purpose. Hope this helps!

How can you get free airline dummy' ticket 🎫 for your documentations ...? Any idea 💡
@ProjectUntethered
@ProjectUntethered 2 жыл бұрын
We’ve used the onward travel websites to “rent” tickets - it has worked many times, but one time the airline wanted a number that the rented ticket didn’t have, so we had to buy a refundable ticket at the counter really quick. And that would be the other option, to buy a refundable ticket (don’t use third party sites) or if your in Europe where there are tons of cheap flights, a ticket to the cheapest destination that you just don’t use

@@ProjectUntethered Hello! Yes, you should return to Brazil with more time. Brazil is continental in size, a lot to see, a lot of people to meet. I'm going to the UK in april/2022 and i'll stay until november/2022 to improve my english. I'm a freelancer and I get my jobs through Upwork. I currently work on Brazilian projects or projects that need Portuguese to carry out the activities. I'm going to travel to improve my English faster and be able to work on more global projects. Every freelancer's dream is to earn more per hour. I'm going to volunteer for Worldpackers in some hostels so I don't pay for sleeping and I can talk to travelers and natives. In November/2022 I plan on going to Southeast Asia to escape the European cold and continue my journey. My biggest challenge is to stop being just a freelancer to become a digital nomad. You are helping me on this journey. Thanks!
@ProjectUntethered
@ProjectUntethered 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like an awesome plan! Volunteering and traveling in hostels is a great way to practice English because it’s often the common language everyone defaults to. And there is nothing wrong with being a freelancer AND a digital nomad. Running your own business can offer more freedom and flexibility eventually, but freelancing while traveling is way easier to start!
