I hunted Wednesday evening and when approaching my stand at 3pm there was 2 doe eating the grape vine leaves I used to brush in my blind. They saw me and blew out of course. I saw 3 year and a half bucks and half a dozen doe in my plot until dark. I slowly exited and as I started walking I heard a few deer blow down the ridge. I elected to stay out Thursday night because of the two time I blew out the deer. I pulled my camera friday and ONLY 1 doe showed up in the food plot that evening. Just a small amount of pressure on only my 2nd time in that blind this season made a huge difference in deer movement.

That’s what I’m saying… I love the idea of hunting a spot that’s non invasive but no matter how careful I am, it seems impossible. I feel like putting yourself in a spot where there’s generally no deer, is as good as any. Scare 5 deer over 5 days vs scaring 5 deer in 1 night. Pick your poison

As a disabled veteran I use a crossbow because I'm unable to use a Traditional compound bow. Other than that everything you've said is wat I try to employ my hunting practice and all of your advice is flawless. Thank you for sharing may God richly bless you and your family over this season and beyond.

Thank you Jeff. I ve practiced the “ hunting from a seated position “ for years. I’ve never had a deer bust me in my tree lounge on public land. I’ve had them look directly at me and and look away cool as a cucumber. Moment up there is everything.

When I was younger I did face pulls at the gym and went from 35# pull to over 60 in a month as a kid. Really doesn't take much time in the gym to improve your draw weight significantly.

I’m a veteran and I grew up hunting so I used a lot of these tips already one thing to mention to new deer hunters I wouldn’t worry too much about scent unless your downwind I live in Oklahoma not much wind in the winter so I use pine rub it all over your clothes and spray if you want and I hang my hunting clothes outside hope this helps!

Jeff this is one of the best real true to life how-to hunt for big bucks videos I've ever seen. I wish I could have watched this 30 years ago. Just great knowledge that is all truth. My dad is 72 and boy do I wish I could get him to watch this and pay attention to it. He's so set in his old ways and clueless. If he would abide by even just one or two of these tips he'd do so much better in the deer woods. But unfortunately he is guilty of all of these no-no's. Thank you for all your videos Jeff. They're awesome. 👍

Jeff @14 min when "this part should be easy" what you fail to mention is that at least for most of us the is THE ONLY part of the list that you will have a heart rate going through the roof, you will almost be dizzy with excitement and adrenaline and the most difficult thing we do is somehow harnessing that energy and emotion and compartmentalizing it and focusing on the moment and the shot selection first then the shot. Even me as a 40 year vet and a killer, I just took a shot I wish i could have back and if I would have waited most likely would have got a better one. That is the hardest part imo....much respect sir.

Question--So if you sweat getting to your stand, when you get settled, you open up and let your body cool down which obviously allows all the sweat into the air although at 20 feet high. Is that what you meant?

Talking about Scent. In general how long does human scent last. Yes lots of variables like wind, temp, rain, snow. But if you walk into the woods, touch a branch how long does that scent stay on that branch. Another great video.

I like everything but the saddle hunting if u use it correctly u should not spook any deer. U should be on the back side of the tree so even tho ur away from the tree u are on the back side so u are hidden from the deer. Now if they come in behind you then yea that’s a problem but that’s not the saddle that’s how u set it up.

Unfortunately I made one of these small mistakes last night. Was a rush to get up into my stand and did not do the simple thing of listening for the click of my nock clicking in. My target buck showed up 30 mins later and when I drew, my arrow came off. I had a 2 min stair off at full draw with no arrow just to watch him walk away. Heartbreaking.

I just moved to Eastern KY on 20 acres previously owned by an econ officer. My house is almost smack in the middle and has deer coming and going constantly around the edges. There are beds all around and they are also constantly eating when I see them. Can a property be a sleep area and a food source? I just put on my old Marine cammies and lean against a tree 50 ft from my house and deer walk right by. Is this a bad way to hunt? Appreciate your videos very much Sir.

Something I’ve been doing, and seen deer every time I’ve done it is: I rub some peanut butter on the side of my boots, I even drew in a downwind donkey the other day hahaha but the peanut butter is so strong I FEELS LIKE it masks my scent decently well, I’m also spraying scent killer and not using fragrance the night before hunting

I was ground hunting a new spot, 3rd day trying was taking a piss, and looked to right and two doe walked on by didn't even notice me somehow.... I sat and waited to see if they would come back and next thing you know 4 or 5 doe started coming through same trail, I started to draw and one must have been behind me and it blew, scaring them all off. 🤦 Should I let that spot cool down ? The 1st set of does never noticed me and by the tracks there are heards of them.

Hi Jeff! Question? I shot a doe this season and she didn’t act hit, trotted thirty yards and collapsed. The other deer in the area didn’t even notice. A while later another doe gets to the exact spot she was standing and goes on high alert. I hadn’t walked there and my wind hadn’t blown there. Did my scent on the arrow spook her? The bloodtrail? Any ideas?
@m.harr.n.e.tennesseevet
@m.harr.n.e.tennesseevet Жыл бұрын
John in my opinion it was the blood. If it was a pass through hit the meat and blood cleaned your scent off the arrow. Blood has a distinct odor of it's own. Like I said this is my opinion.
@keithwalker7151

lol...1 metallic "tink" and im unhappy...if i have time i will usually relocate...have sat it out successfully plenty...but i dont like it. spare no energy avoiding it...i put electrical tape on things like lifeline, caribiners to dampen sound if it bumps ladder stick or stand but really dont even want it then either, moleskin on whole bow shelf , anywhere my arrow may bump while loading...i do away with the launcher felt that comes with a drop away and replace it with real moleskin for silent arrow glide during draw...details details details...to me...bowhunting is a game of inches and details...its why i love it so much...nothing like having him in range but waiting on 1 tiny twig to clear for the shot..whole time calculating angle..shot placement..exit location..its just pure adrenaline .. Is nice to know there are others out there and im NOT crazy ! had to laugh couple days ago... watched a vid where the guy drew his bow and the arrow on the felt for his drop away sounded like violin bow pulling across the strings as it will on cold frosty morns..damp eves..usually its the section of arrow where the label is that chirps ...deer bolted out to bout 30...he still made the shot wich i found impressive..but cracked up when i heard that violin, thought to self...yea...been there...once..never again. moleskin for tha win !
