#10 Loading a Walnut Log with Homemade Equipment

A friend offered me a big walnut tree trunk. I videoed the loading process. I built my winch trailer, skid sled, log tongs and log jack in my shop just so I could do things like this. Subscribe to find out what it becomes.

+Richard Schaffling The Trailer has been upgraded since this video. It is now tilt bed and has a much taller arch on the back end. See my more recent videos there is a newer one of it.

Gerry Plante The Arch (as I call it) is 2X2 1/4 inch wall Square steel tubing, it stands about 4 feet above the bed and has 5 3/8 eye-bolts that are welded closed across the top bar. The idea (and it seems to work) is that you can hook the snatch block into any given eye to load the logs onto the trailer in line with that eye. Would work better if the winch could be adjusted too but I didn't take it that far. There is a video of it on my other channel maybe you can see it better there. id like to see how u get on that cart that it rolls on. I'm thinking a bumper jack or floor jack

Nope just a log jack. it looks like a Peavey with a foot sticking off of one side.
