At 26:36 ; In the eqns -x+y+2z=0 3x-3y+5z=1 2x-2y-3z=7 delta is 0 and P1+P2=P3 holds for coeff of x and y but it doesnt hold for coeff of z.

The coefficients of x,y,z (eg. a1,b1,c1) gives the vector perpendicular to the plane. So the rows of delta give the 3 vectors perpendicular to each plane. Condition of coplanarity of 3 vectors is that, that determinant should be 0. So if delta is not 0, the vectors perpendicular to the planes are not coplanar, and if you can imagine, the three planes would intersect at a single point in space (Hence unique solution) But if delta isnt 0 then it means that those vectors are coplanar. This could happen in a variety of ways, which sir explained. So no, it doesnt necessarily mean they are parallel

Sir, what does it mean or why we use coefficients of linear equations in determinant ? Sir i do not understand its significance since determinant of 3×3 is a volume using vectors i dont understand why we use coefficients in determinant. 5:45 My guess is e.g. for equation of lines in 1 variable we know a1/a2 =b1/b2 =c1/c2 and after solving few steps we get the form of determinant. Am i right ? Similarly did we define for 2 variables?

The example sir gave ie two plane intersecting and third plane parallel to line of intersection, is a case of delta being zero and one of (delta)i being non zero, hence no soln.( not becoz of delta being zero and (delta)i being zero and still there is no solution)

Sir, what does delta not equal to 0 mean in context of planes?

Coefficients (x,y,z) of an equation of plane represents a vector which is perpendicular to the plane . Now from 3 planes we will get 3 perpendicular vectors respectively . We put the components of these vectors in a determinant and if det. ≠ 0 , then it means that these 3 vectors are not co-planar , and if these 3 vectors are not co-planar then the perpendicular vectors to these vectors which will lie on the plane itself from where we started , will also not be co-planar . Hence this implies we will get an unique solution. If det = 0 , this implies that vectors are co-planar and there will be cases which sir has explained further in the video. Only tough one to imagine is the co-axial case , but trust me perpendicular vector of all the plane in this case will lie in a single plane , that's why we can write one vector as a combination of other 2 vector --> one plane as combination of other two planes.

@@Shashankpal1994 I put some time into it, and then simply realised the det not =0 is the case where 1) all three planes are non parallel (Bc det not =0) 2) any given plane is non parallel to the line of intersection of the other 2 planes, thus only giving one common point to all 3 planes.
