I practice a total of 2-3 hours every day in 3 sessions. I think the last time I missed a day was over a year ago. I do 30 minutes on technical exercises 30 minutes for sight reading and the rest of the time I’m working on repertoire. I retired early so I made it my new job to be as good of a pianist as I can be for the remainder of my life (I’m in my 50s). I am improving steadily but I don’t see how I could improve if I only practiced 15 minutes a day. Maybe some are just faster at learning than me! Love your channel by the way!

I hear you, but I have you beat in that I practice the same approx, but I am 76 and can’t quite remember anything without 3 or more reps! Now I am finally going to force myself to learn to count Rythm! Before I just played along with the notes on SIMPLY PIANO!

@@batboy242 haha! That’s great. Counting rhythms is one of the hardest parts of playing but I’ve been forcing myself as well as using the metronome. This channel is the best for learning to count rhythms though and I’ve seen a lot of videos out there. Keep on practicing and good luck on your continued progress!

I practice almost every day. Might miss 1 day in a month or so. At least an hour if I can or a little more. Going to do loads of sight reading as you told that amazing story

I pratice at least 10 minutes everyday but most of the time up to an hour (unless out of town). I usually start with some king od warm up and then do some hand coordiantion exercise. I practice scales but not enough (just like on my trumpet). I'm starting to do more sight reading and also working on easy pieces. I have the Adult All in one book you referenced and go back to that at least once per week. Thanks for the great video(s).

I literally just started practicing yesterday lol, but so far I've been practicing some 4-5h yesterday and maybe 2h today. I don't aim to become a master pianist or anything, but I've always wanted to be able to play decently. I just could never afford a piano or keyboard. But I finally got the great(?) idea to buy a toy piano (those plastic ones for kids) to use just for learning some basics, because those are cheap. And I did! So now I've got a very plain, slightly crap sounding, toy piano with only 37 keys, but I'm having fun learning from youtubers like yourself. I'm practicing sight reading, how to hold my hands on the keys, how to use both hands, and some simple melodies. Right now trying to crack Jingle Bells. I'm very bad at playing the piano, so I'm having trouble even with that one lol. I do have a job and 500 other hobbies as well though, so I probably won't be spending this much time with the piano on the regular though. But if I continue being really into it, then I'd probably invest in a proper keyboard.

I practice about an hour a day. Right now I’m going through Piano Adventures and I really like learning the Teacher’s part, record it, and play the duet. It takes me about two or three days to master the Teacher’s part.

True! I used to get in the practice room at 6am when I went to college. I got the most progress done between 6 and 8am. Then all those students and professors would arrive and ruin everything haha. I still get most of my work done before 10am. Morning people are my people!

I practice pretty much Every day for at least 30 minutes (sometimes in 10 minute chunks so this is helpful). Longer on weekends. I generally only miss when I’m traveling for work.

Do you have a video of how you set up your laptop? I have a 66 key keyboard and would like to have a better setup for my ipad or laptop (for music and metronome). Gosh, I try to play a few pieces (at the level 2). Do you have a video or course that details how to do those scales. I'm hopeless at the fingers over octaves.

Thanks for all the great tips! I don't always practice everyday, I always intend to, but....still I've recently uped my practice days, as I started going to a class again, so that makes me practice my homework, which means I practice more often at the moment. I usually do about an hour, sometimes more. I often don't want to do an hour, an intend to do less, but I end up doing longer then I wanted to, that might sound a bit strange, but I can over do it, and end up tried, plus I'm not sure practicing for a long time, is always helpful. Sometimes it's like I'm just going over and over a piece, but not necessarily improving. It would be better to stop at that point, and leave it untill tomorrow? I'm very bad at using the metronome, what's your favourite metronome?👍

I practice for 2 hours per day, reading both clefs at the same time is the hardest part. I'm also getting use to a metronome and for sight reading I jump all over the page and play different sections so that I'm not just playing by memory. My sight reading is fine however it takes a bit of time.

@oniitto5584 Do you teach yourself? If so, you might find it helps to have a tutor, or go to a class, or take up online lessons, I mean an online course, like flowkey or one of the others, or Tim's online course?? It might give you the structure you need to motivate you. Just an idea. Learning alone is difficult, or can be, I'm speaking from experience. 😊 Hope you start up again🙏👍
