@@DanceySteveYNWA -- Yeah it is a stretch, but the dude does make outstanding videos and has a buttery-smooth voice to narrate them. I sincerely wish him well. He deserves more subscribers. @@JohnMichaelGodier Discussions around the idea of an asteroid impact of the scale that took out the dinosaurs does the opposite for me, I find such debate to be rather disquieting. And when I realize that we are overdue for just such an event and that we have absolutely no way of preventing such an event, well you might imagine my reaction. 😉 Indeed, the lack of global concern following the unexpected and very real Chelyabinsk impact is something we ALL should find troubling.

I suffer clinical anxiety and Mr Godier is right have a lie down JMG or Event Horizon on shuffle repeat and you will chill to the Max. I listen like that nearly every night and the hosts voice is soothing and the subject matter really helps you meditate if you will when you least feel relaxed. I hope you feel better every day I know how you feel honestly and I know sometimes its like running away from something you just cant get away from and there is no end. Trust me there is hope and im sure with this channel there is a lot more for you. Thinking of you and others like us as I listen . All the best and glad you felt better listening in.....x

That's all Googtube targeting you and picking whatever crap advertisers paid to publish. Don't blame the creator for that part of things, it's not their fault that tolerating advertisements is the only way they can get paid to make you free content. And the fact that the gas giants are further out than our own orbit. Makes the drake equation require quite a bit of nuanced variables doesn’t it? So this year has gone sideways for all of us, but one good thing to have come out of it, is my rekindled love for astronomy. I have been following both your channels, and it has helped update me hugely. I gave astronomy up years ago, due to bullying at school. Anyhow, I'm back and 10 months in to it all. I was wondering, however, where people with astronomy channels get their content from in terms of images and video? I've looked online and not had many answers. I assumed maybe people got a license from some place for it, again I don't know where. Any info you could give would be seriously appreciated. I am really hoping to get good enough soon to start making some videos, even if it's a labour of love, I don't care, I just want to get into it as much as possible ad make up for lost time. Thanks for the info and videos. Daniel.

The crazy thing is that Betelgeuse is approximately 700 light years from Earth (if the wiki is correct). So what sucks is if the star collapsed 500 years ago, we still wouldn't see it in our lifetime. Such things can be very dangerous in the future if we ever develop light speed, FTL or worm holes for travel. We could go to a star system many light years away that looks perfectly fine only to be bombarded by the aftermath of a super nova that occurred 10 or 100 years prior. The importance of probes are... well... important.

Lately I've been having this idea... Imagine being an intelligent being living in an intergallactic starless planet where your species evolved in an underground liquid water environment, then at one point your species develop the technology to dig up against the absolute zero ice to discover an universe of stars. Must be a crazy revelation moment. Especially with no atmosphere and perfect view of entire galaxies.

You assume that any life that spends its entire existence underground would have eyes or even be able to see, when there are species on earth in which live underground that are blind and have no eyes due to evolutionary and environmental processes. Don’t just assume human characteristics to something.
