I bought a guitar like 2 or three weeks ago, but other than that, I've really not bought anything physical to put inside my house in a long time. Less clutter and more money to be able to invest instead. Also most of my clothes are several years old. I wear them until they wear out. I don't feel like I've missed anything by not having more physical stuff.

I'm glad I came back to your channel. A few months ago, I basically removed all of my subscriptions, and re-subbed to the ones I actually I want to watch. I've recently minimized my finances to just what I need. Currently saving about $135/month now. Most of my money in a high interest savings account, some of it in the stock market, and the rest is my usable money in a joint account with my wife. We use this for bills, groceries, etc.

Great video! Congratulations on 500k subs! I don't drink coffee. Last time I tried it, I vomited. 🤢 Zoom out - have you read the book "10 10 10"? Same concept - will this matter in 10 minutes, 10 hours, 10 days? Or 10 days, 10 months, 10 years? The labels change depending on what the dilemma is. I'm dropping all of my paid entertainment subscriptions: Netflix, greatness, nerd fitness, dating apps, etc. They carry too much guilt (should). And Im moving my sewing machine back out to the living room. It ticks more boxes in a good way: creativity, entertainment, accomplishment, skill development, joy, satisfaction, and more. I launched my business Unplugged Fun and am taking bookings for sessions that begin in April. Thank you for the inspiration to be ME!

You can also check with your bank if they can do this on your card and any change will be put into your savings. When I budget i round up so I’ll have spare money at the end to save or have fun with.

Fewer things, not 'less' ...but maybe you have a reductionist view to grammar too?
@FoxStorm11116 ай бұрын
There’s nothing wrong with Gabe saying “Less things” instead of “Fewer things”. It’s effective, clear and non-pretentious, and his style works. In a world that is so crazy right now, it’s really best to try to keep snide comments to ourselves unless they really deserve it. Even then it’s better to be kind. I wasn’t going to say anything, but this guy just put out a video, and he put a lot of work into it and *half a million people have found value in his content* overall. He did nothing to deserve comments like that. Unless someone is doing videos on ACTUAL GRAMMAR and getting things wrong, it’s just not cool mouthing off like that. Over here we call it “Tall Poppy Syndrome”.

I like Gabe's lingo. A lot of people with the same family lingo find a certain appreciation for his way of expression.
@FoxStorm11116 ай бұрын
@@RockScience-s3b Yes!! I appreciate his lingo also. I wish I could have put it so succinctly in my comment instead of writing an essay. But you are spot on. I just had a proper think about this person’s issue with “less things”, and it’s quoted a lot if you search up “less but better”. He even said he got it from a book. It’s absolutely correct grammar and there’s nothing wrong with it. If it’s incorrect I really don’t care.

Well Gabe it’s been around a month since discovering your channel and I am now even mentioning you to strangers (well half-strangers), because my whole life has transformed, from super chaotic to.. well still super chaotic honestly, but only half the day 😬 and in a different way. With decluttering has come all this deeply psychologically entrenched stuff that I’ve had to look at, and with having an always clean kitchen (with the other rooms catching up), I have *more time* to focus on self development and I’m super excited about the future because I feel like I’m actually getting somewhere. I’m probably going to bug you every few weeks (or maybe months is better), to update you, but this is all because one day you decided “I’m gonna do KZbin”, and I’m so damn grateful. I’ve been looking for inspiration and help for years but nothing has really stuck, and you’re the first person who really resonated with me and really kicked my butt. I super appreciate it. Seriously, I’ve always kind of known what I needed to do, but just needed someone to word it in a way that worked for me. I can’t really describe it but you’re a household name here now. Cheers! ☕️ 🙏

I can't tell you how grateful I am for this message! I never really get to see if my work actually helps people and it's so cool to know what I'm doing every day is actually helping! Definitely keep the updates coming

Great and inspiring comment. ❤
@FoxStorm11116 ай бұрын
@@angelicacole40 Thank you 💙 It all started with a video of Gabe mentioning the “2 minute rule” (or “1 minute rule” - both work!). And then his idea of wearing one wireless earbud to listen to things while doing mundane stuff (this way I could still be around for the kids but I would watch video after video from this guy while doing any kitchen clean-up (dishes and cooking routine usually), and I just kept picking up little tips. The “One touch rule” was game changing for everyone. I go to put a cup in the sink and with the one touch rule I have to wash it, plus it takes less than a minute!! Just these rules alone could transform your life, especially if you’re a busy person or have kids. The biggest plus from this has been seeing my kids pick up amazing habits. I don’t want then to be struggling with clutter and mess like me. And because I gave them a week off all screens unless it was a video about minimalism or a Gabe Bult video (my 9, 12 and 17 year olds all love his videos btw, so it wasn’t at all forced 😂), they all really got into finance too. Now they instead of gaming (I know Gabe games but these kids were so addicted), they decided they would *rather spend their time in a more meaningful way* and went well I could spend 728 hours (minimum) a year gaming, or I could spend that time learning a whole new language or *creating* . As an incentive I pay them a small amount ($7 a week) for this, to encourage them. They get extra for extra study and get to come up with their own schedules that work for them, with one gaming day a week. This has all come about due to watching Gabe’s videos and the kids respect him as a mentor if sorts. It’s epic.
@FoxStorm11116 ай бұрын
@@GabeBult Mate, I went into detail replying to someone’s comment below (but probably should have replied to you instead), seriously you have really inspired my kids too, and we homeschool so have a pretty flexible lifestyle, but things were going downhill because they were both on dopamine highs & lows from hours of gaming a day. If I cut it down they would spend that time feeling nothing, nothing was interesting etc. We were as a family kind of stuck. Then you came along and I was starting to talk to them about the value if time and because they were inspired by your house hacking and FIRE etc, they wanted to make money and start saving now. Well my income isn’t great so they have never had an allowance. I was like well (and we discussed this for hours and hours), if you really want to quit gaming and get somewhere, I can give you an incentive for that, and they swapped out gaming for other stuff (like learning a new language). Because they are happier I am happier and we spend more quality time together. There’s so much (a bit much for a comment, but I did explain a bit below (or above?). Anyway I won’t forget this Gabe. One day when I do KZbin if I ever get famous 😄 I’ll remember you!

Hey good on you! This is epic! I love hearing this as I had a gaming addiction years ago and now I have no interest luckily, but my kids got super addicted. So they are actually doing this after watching these vids and going hey, in a year, I’ll have either a minimum 700 hours of gaming under my belt (more like triple that), or I can learn a whole new language or skill and *create* more. Plus that dopamine rollercoaster is gone now. “Boring” things don’t feel boring anymore. You have a fantastic goal! 👊🏼
