I remember when I was young, European 747s of Lufthansa, Condor, KLM, even Iberian and British Airways would land in Manila. Too bad most of them seized to fly to Manila. We would fly with Lufthansa or PAL from FRA to MNL and vice versa. Stopover was either Abu Dhabi or Bangkok. Those were the days. :)

Hi @@R42-w2t . Unfortunately I don't know the exact reasons why European airlines decided to stop flying to Manila. But it must be due to tourism. You can find more info here: www.philstar.com/business/2004/04/14/246109/more-european-carriers-cease-manila-flights. The only European airlines I see in Manila are Turkish Airlines and KLM Asia (which is a KLM-owned subsidiary, however registered in Taiwan). The reason why Philippine Airlines didn't fly to EU in the past years was due to security reasons. According to an article on the internet, "Philippine Airlines were blacklisted by the EU in 2010 after the United Nations and US aviation authorities found "serious safety deficiencies." The decision was only reverted in 2013. Unfortunately, PAL decided to stop flying to all European countries even after they were removed from the blacklist. As of today, it's only London Heathrow that Philippine Airlines flies to. Can't wait to see PAL in Germany and other EU countries soon. Maybe even Cebu Pacific? ;)

I'm from Germany as well, but until they build a new Airport on the Water near MOA, most European Airlines will never fly to Manila. Also the bad airplane regulations of PAL caused that they're banned in most of Europe, at least they still connect to London, but The Airport and the National Airline has a lot to improve and also lower their prices. PAL is to expensive for the bad service they offer. No wonder why most prefer other Airlines. Just imagine you live in Europe and want to visit the Philippines. You have numerous choices of Airlines, why would anyone choose PAL? They have nothing to offer except overpriced tickets. Also if your final destination isn't the Philippines, no one and literally no one wants to Transit flights at NAIA. It wasn't the worst Airport in the World for no reason.

Philippine Airline goes retro as they bring back the old "Love bus" plane back to the skies. The "Love bus" livery was introduced by in the 80s as their introduction to their new A300.The livery has the word "Love bus" with a kissmark, painted near the plane's cockpit.
