As a (very) amateurish home musician (in my 40’s) who started goofing around as a kid, I can only imagine what having the resources of these lessons would have contributed to my learning and enthusiasm back then. I think that the knowledge and talent being literally given away to young folks today is going to end up fostering some incredible artists. Thanks for your terrific videos.

I definitely feel this comment but if we are honest without ourselves we spent a lot of time noodling and not a lot of time practicing. However there is no time like the present to start.

I'm in my 40s. I've played off and on my whole. I just got an Ibanez grg121 for $200. Its 5x better than the ibanez rg550 I had 20 years that cost $700. The starter guitar wars they had in the early 2000s (to see who could give the best guitar under $200) revolutionized the way they stamped out guitars. I also have a zoom g1x. It's a multi effects processor. It has like 70+ effects ,amps, cab models. It plugs into headphones , speakers, amp, even a tv audio aux lol. It's the size of a regular stomp box. Cost less than my first reverb pedal. Guitar tabs just "float" around the internet......for free. I had to pay $30 a book. And wait 3 weeks for hal and Leonard to deliver it. This is truly the golden age of guitar. These kids are soooooo lucky

Yes i agree to that but the way internet has changed everything related to learn anything to online to play games and stuff like that. You know in today's time focusing on one thing really is hard when u have literally everything one click away. Back in the days people didn't had much things to spend time with so they probably read and played a lot( i guess so) but today the attention span of youth has reduced tremendously. different times different problems i guess
@jontypiper9881
@jontypiper9881 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely. Back in the 90s there was nothing much around in terms of resources, go back further probably even less. I'm in my 40s and have had huge spells in my lack of playing, one lasted 15 years. I'd like to correct that.

Due to a head injury, I am learning guitar all over again. In some sites, the individual speaks too slow or too fast or runs through the exercises too fast and then I get confused. I came across your site and bingo you speak with a good tempo, articulate and knowledgeable. so now I am using your site to get back what I have lost. Thank you for your dedication and love of the guitar and for helping others. I enjoy the study time and practice. Looking for more programs. Only have viewed 3 programs and still more to see and learn.

I stumbled upon your videos a week ago They inspired me to pick up a guitar I bought 20 years ago and had been hanging on my wall as a piece of ‘modern art’. I thought I’d dive it a 10 minute go, 4 hours later on day one practicing from one video I could ‘kind of play’ one recognisable song “A horse with no name”. 😊 One week later I’m doing only the very basic training exercises just to get my fingers to listen to and obey my brain - not easy but!!! *IT’S WORKING* I’m honestly very impressed and surprised . Being absolutely right handed I’m developing a completely new awareness of my left hand and fingers Today I tried the A minor Pentatonic exercise and my pinky managed to touch the fretboard ‘kinda’ neatly. Wish I had been recording videos to share. Your teaching methods work 100% Thanks

LOL...as a 2 1/2 week beginner, this is similar to my entire practice routine and it takes me 30 minutes+ to do since I'm so slow and have just begun to learn a few chords. 1. finger stretch exercise where I start on 5th fret and index is at 5 and stretch pinky to 9....and so forth for all combo of fingers . I have a very difficult time just doing normal 5&8 with index and pinky. My pinky bends inward a little. 2. Spider exercise - 6-1 strings, move over one fret, then up 1-6 strings, then move over one fret then the same again, down and up. 3. ADE chord work...still slow at changing but getting faster (only been doing it for a few days) 4. A minor Pentatonic at the open string 5 down and up, then 5th fret/string 6 down and up a number of times. Then just try moving up and down the neck/fret board based on the A minor notes of A,C,D,E,G. Been doing this for about a week and have gotten so much better....but still pretty slow. - that takes me at least 30 full minutes, then for about 10-15 minutes I just try playing a few simply melodies....picking single strings mostly, not chord play at this time. But now that I do have a few chords down as well as the pentatonic scale, I need to start using a metronome to work on even timing.
