Good morning 2 u! I was looking for something different to do exercise wise and I have been doing tai chi for about a month now and I find it very relaxing and it helps me to get out the kinks after a regular but intense workout routine because boredom is the kiss of death while exercising because If u are truly bored, then u will find a reason not a good reason but a reason nonetheless not to exercise! Have a great day!🏋️‍♂️🏋️‍♂️🏋️‍♂️🏋️‍♂️

I shared this with my study group today. Easy to follow and relaxed. It really showcases the slowness within the movement. The shadow on the sand of the ocasional seagull flying by was just beautiful! Thank you so much. Sweet Dreams.

Thank you that was such a nice way to start my day. Its easy to fall into a rut of following your DVD's so that we know of by heart what is coming next but put in a different context and sequence the same movements throw us so this was a great reminder to practice more using different routines - keep moving in other words.

David, I bought a couple of your DVDs years ago. We were both very much younger then. My favorite became the AM Tai Chi. I still have the DVD, but no longer own a player. So I am happy to have found you on KZbin! I have tried other people's videos, but I am most accustomed to your pace, voice and energy. Like an old friend. Just wanted to say thanks. Buen amigo.

So pleased I found you! Years go I took a Tai Chi course and have never found anyone who did it in the same way - the correct way! I have therefore subscribed and look forward to following you. I am elderly now but still have full movements so want to keep it that way. Love this beautiful, meditating near water exercise.

Wow! One of your best video. Blue ocean, pale sand, lovely music. Great taijifit moments. One question : You alway say in your introduction, if you would like tai chi for defending yourself, but you rarely mention the martial art aspect. I would love a video that would show the defending application. Thank you DDR.

have trained with a great master of Tai Chi and Ba gua and can say with all honesty your posture is off it shows all the way to your finger tips not sure how u won awards in China
@DavidDorianRoss
@DavidDorianRoss 5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm - who is your great master? ;-) Perhaps I'm US and world champion because the people who judge such things know more than you. Just sayin'. Now in the future, when you are watching someone do Tai Chi, remember that things like "posture" is not the most important thing. What matters most is this: does it work? At 61, I'm happier, healthier, have more fun in life and am more successful than most - and it's absolutely due to my Taiji practice. The purpose of Tai Chi is to make you a better person - nothing more, nothing less.

Hi David thank you for your personal reply! I mean no disrespect and I totally agree with you that many, many people know more than I do, that is absolutely true and I don’t take it as an insult it is just fact. I studied for some time under E Hines who is a student of Luo De Xiu But still disagree with you, your posture is off; Tai Chi power, like all martial arts, is generated by body mechanics i.e. posture. Without it you may as well be ballroom dancing; there is nothing wrong with that, dancers are amazingly fit and healthy my mum danced well into her 80’s. Suggest you look at anything by Luo De Xiu, his body mech’ / posture shows how every movement he makes is connected from his feet to be expressed by his fingers, yet world champ or no your movements do not

Hi Fred - thank you SO MUCH for replying in such a cordial and respectful manner. That's really refreshing. I love that you have a lineage with a master like Luo De Xiu. (Interesting side note - we have the same last name: Ross becomes Luo in Chinese). So I appreciate that you are trying to put together your understanding of Tai Chi with what you see in a video. However, therein lies the problem - anytime you compare what one master looks like with another you will be disappointed. No two teachers will look alike - and they shouldn't! This is an error in approach made by a lot of advanced Tai Chi students, by the way - so you're not alone by any means. The moment Tai Chi players begin to mimic each other too much, they've lost the fundamental intent of the method - which is to be "authentically spontaneous in action" - or Wu Wei. By the way, I couldn't find any videos of Master Luo performing Tai Chi - only Bagua and Xing Yi. Do you have a link to any of his Tai Chi video? I'd love to see what you're using as a model.

@@DavidDorianRoss Sifu Ross, Thank you once again for your reply. Like you I have a love and respect of all martial arts and their performers, but especially Tai Chi etc… I watch people like Helen Liang and her Father Master Shou Yu Liang with total awe at how they make the most complex look so beautiful and simple some think I could only ever dream of achieving. I do agree with you that each person brings their own perspective and indeed movement to the form and this should be the case. Plus to judge some on from a video in not truly fair. Someone without understanding watching the old b/w video of Sun Juen could easily be left wondering if she had just made it up on the spot and pick holes in everything. I would like to apologies for taking this unfair line of criticism based on your videos but……. in your KZbin vids’ your back does not look straight or perhaps flat is a better word. We were taught to roll the pelvis up and forward which then connects the spine to the legs and feet so the body moves as one unit from the feet to be expressed in the hands; sorry I’m not sure that makes sense but I’m sure you will understand what I’m trying to say. In the videos you seem to be missing the flat back and so the connection. Is this down to a difference in style etc.? I know Luo De Xiu is famous for his use of Xing Y in tournaments and having studied with the Hung brothers, practiced Tai chi as well as Ba Gua and Xing Y; and once again you are right there seem to be no video evidence of him performing Tai Chi. Though you can see his back and posture in the Ba Gua forms. This is also seen in Sun Juen and many others. Again thank you for taking the time to respond
