10 minute Time lapse 1976 Jeep CJ5 Restoration

After 4.5 years, countless hours, and moving into a new shop, the restoration of the 1976 Jeep CJ5 my Grandpa taught me to drive in on our farm when I was 10 years old is done! I didn't add any body work or rust repair to the time lapse because it added to much time, but It is the same original tub.

I was robbed of 46 seconds!! You don’t say if your grandfather is still with us, but whether he is or isn’t he’d be equally proud wherever he is. It’s great how you’ve kept it original but better, eg modern new tyres etc. Very well done indeed.

I built a 1986 CJ 7 years ago and chose to build up the 258 instead of the overdone route of SB Chevy. The 258 is a solid reliable engine, just a little underpowered. I had the block bored .40 over installed a Crane cam, Offy 4V intake, 450 cfm Holley 4V .Pacesetter coated header. After a few thousand miles i took on my buddy who had a CJ 7 with the 304 that he put a Carter 4V carb and headers on. Each run i was able to beat him, plus it didn't lose the better front to rear weight balance the lighter 6 offers.

It's great to see a part of history in great condition again. What looks like bed liner in the interior is a great touch, by the way. Did you think to coat the underside as well to prevent rust? Just curious if that worked out.

Yes underside also has bed-liner. Raptor liner to be specific.

I'm about to undergo a similar body off frame restoration process with my 82 CJ5 and I could use a couple pointers. What paint or coating is best for the frame, and what is best for the underside of the tub? I'm choosing to shy away from a rubberized undercoating.
