That was great! I am so lazy at exercising my voice. I have committed myself to doing ten minutes each day. I have a routine i got from watching videos a year ago. I feel like an idiot doing these, but I need to learn just to try and record my own songs. One thing I just learned is that after doing these exercises, to also sing my songs in just 'yum yum yum', then I was finally able to sing them with an almost consistent and perfect tone just from my first 10-20 minutes of using these exercises.

No physical reason why it shouldnt get back to where it was. Just keep working at it and remember that these things can be more in your head than in your voice…BELIEVE you can do it (you know you can because you e done it in the past so that helps) and don’t give a shit about anyone who might be in earshot…if everyone cared about how they sounded when practicing an instrument then no one would ever get good at anything. Confidence is key I’ve found

I rarely get the space to sing as much as I want to, so my singing time is precious, and it helps my depression immensely. This warm up made that time so much better. I have tried other warm ups before and they just haven't done what I needed it to, but this made so much sense, and made me able to see how wide my range actually is. Used to sing ALL THE TIME, choir, caroling, musical theatre, karaoke, and I was good. Thank you SO much for this! I could sing before I could talk and never had issues with my voice until I developed an inflamed larynx due to silent reflux. Not knowing what I had - they don't call it silent for nothing! - I developed bad habits and was straining because of the pain in my throat. The problem after I healed was not getting enough air and activating my diaphragm. Now I'm having to learn how to sing again. These exercises are fabulous. I plan to do them daily. Like many of the comments here, our choir has not sung since March. Thank you again.

I had a bad experience once when I sang for the first time infront of people (some bullies I was singing with pushed me so I sang off key and at least 100 + people laughed at me) and after that, I got a huge anxiety for singing. Every time I try to sing, my voice stops and I start shaking. Im terrified someone hears me so if I manage to sing, I sing low and starts shaking if I sing to loud. Its very depressing.. cuz I really enjoyed singing. I miss it.. but yeh- I can't.

I had a similar experience Aurora, trust me the self doubt definitely starts setting in afterwards ..but you have to make it your job to surpass ALL that self doubt and FORCE yourself to be better!! It helps if you go out to your car or even your closet to not feel embarrassed or like you have to lower your voice at all!! Envision the singer you want to be/ envision the voice you want yourself to have and just GO‼️ even if it takes months to a year it’ll be one of the best things you ever did . LOOK UP❣️

the more I watched this the more I understood madeleine's warm up methods, and they are very clever, and you notice how it makes even madeleine end up laughing, and as an ex singer many years ago, enjoying to the point of laughing is actually extremely important, doing and feeling this before any performance projects this to the audience, that is more than important, because it helps them to be happy too, when you engage with the audience, so madeleine I will be urging those who express an interest to sing to you, I'm glad I clicked on to your page,

Wow these are unexpectedly legit hacks for warming up for aggressive vocals. +1 for helping me realize that I can just tongue trill as someone who absolutely cannot lip trill too.
@mannifester8889

what do you do when you run out of puff for the lip/tongue trill? mine stops after a couple seonds so end up just focussing on trying to do it.. squeezing cheeks does not help 😭 I recently started a thirty day manifesting a better singing voice in 30 days on my channel and on day 6.. this would be really helpful 💙

Put one finger on each side of your lips, and *GENTLY* press inwards. This should make the sound a bit easier to start. You can leave your fingers there as much as you need. Eventually you won't need them :)

I sometimes struggle with the same thing. It would often happen in chorus class. I personally feel like practice is what really helps and training your diaphragm.

You need to work on breath distribution. Maybe try a breathing excerciser. I got one on Amazon for $50. Works on ex and inhale. Also “catch breaths” might help you pack in air for a long line

Your exercises are giving me an understanding of breathing with my diaphragm that I never had before...and I am truly grateful. I can feel these muscles working.
