10 Minutes of USEFUL Information about Sea of Thieves!

Sea of thieves pro tip: if you see a ship at acteint spire outpost it's probably me because the game won't spawn me anywhere else

The south side of K-9 is also region neutral, so you can get Shadow Stormfish there too. The northeast side will still get you Wild Stormfish, so be careful.

You can also server hop with any loot by swimming an item down to a shrine/treasury and storing the item in a mermaid statue. When you go back to the same shrine/treasury the loot mermaid will still be there

8:15 this is only partially correct. Rain will not fill up your boat coninuously when you have no holes, only up to a certain point. 9:45 While you are right about this, the bilge rat cloth "boots" also make less sound just like going barefoot.

@@catcoffeemug they didn't, I'm a sound engineer and I did an analysis. They are considered as boots by the game. There are only 3 types of footsteps in game

Also when looking on Skeleton ship with spyglass it will make different sound than looking on a player ship.

I had some one use the sloops agility to their advantage to sell a reapers bounty from a brig. The sloop was going East on the North side of the island, and I (the brig) was going for an intercept by going N NE from the S side of the island. They didn’t stop, a smart move, rather they kept going until we were gaining on them (now both going E) and he anchor turned 180deg and went West and jumped off and sold it. There was nothing we could do on the brig, as we had to lower the anchor, raise it (just 2 people on open crew) so it took a little bit, and by that time they were long gone. Basically he pulled us away from the island and quickly turned as he knew his sloop had much more agility

DA sails aren't as great as people like to hype them up to be. The amount of extra visibility they give is minimal and it becomes completely irrelevant the moment you have to angle the sails.

I want someone to correct me if i'm wrong on this one But i think the tip about fishing for Shadow Stormfish (and Raven Islehoppers by extent) was only relevant when you couldn't see the names before they bite Like i don't think it makes them any less rare, it just meant you won't accidentally fish up the wrong color of fish cause you mistook them for the rare one However when you can see the names, that isn't really an issue anymore

Nah, the Arena doesn't technically belong to any named area of the map, hence fish species that are tied to specific areas cannot spawn there, making the one's that remain more likely.

@@chezuzkrytzt5758 It depends how the game chooses what fish to spawn If they all have a variable spawn rate that changes depending on the available fish, then yes, it would make a difference But if i.e. the game chooses the rarity first and then the type of fish inside that rarity depending on factors like bait or environment, you would have the exact same chance to find shadow stormfish near the arena as you would in any other part of the map. That aside, you only effectively remove one fish from the pool anyway, so even if there is a difference, whether or not it's faster to always wait at the sea dog tavern or just sail to the next best island in the storm's path is a whole 'nother story.

@@BigJinfinity fair point, I gotta admit I don't have the games source code to check..and since I'm done with fishing anyways, I'm also not going to do any tests on this. Speaking of fishing, let me tell you of FoxBard9582 the best storm rider I've ever met. I sailed with him as a captain and two other randoms on a galleon, chasing the storm to catch Stormfish. After we dug up like 600 leeches this absolute madlad managed to caress the sail and wheel in such a way that we were able to ride the storm and catch stormfish but didn't take any damage and only had to bail out the rain occasionally. That was a pretty fucking insane session I tell you.

​@@chezuzkrytzt5758 That does sound amazing I'm currently on the path for Legendary Hunter, but solo unfortunately Right now i'm hunting the arguably worst fish in the game, the blackcloud wrecker Nothing like 1-2 hours of work for 3 fish each time, if you find a wreck in the storm's path at all that is I can't even imagine doing this before merfolk's lullaby, that must've been true torture

I won't be home for a couple weeks, but I guess I'd be down for some blackcloud fishing if you're still at it around mid to late august. If you want some support that is. Also I'm not a big fan of alliance servers, but you can usually find some people there to get a crew together for regular servers as well

You can escape any ship by going directly against the wind as the sloop.

Sloop is currently no longer fastest against the wind since January 2022. It was silently changed. There are couple of videos testing it and making the point.

There's a better spot at reapers to sell, also you shouldn't anchor because your ship might disappear if you're on a rock. Better to just put a sail down a little bit and butt up against the shore.

Something else with skeleton ships and identifying them, there will never be a skeleton brigantine (since the brigantine didn't exist in the game yet when skeleton ships were added to the game).

Ship speed is a myth a brig will always catch a sloop into the wind. Also another helpful tip is the current of the sea flows to the southeast. Meaning if you sail southeast your helm will remain in the same direction while it will slightly turn sailing in otherwise directions.

Another one got fooled by the comparison video. That was tested in the NW direction. While sailing straight into the flow of the waves you get slowed down. The bigger the ship the smaller is the effect. Skoop is still the fastest into headwind. You get pushed off course between WSW and NNE every other direction is fine
