I utterly enjoyed this video.I always blamed my parents for my failure. I thought they made some mistakes in my upbringing. However, by watching this video,I came to know it was I who is responsible for my failure. From now on I will never hate my parents for who I am today. Procrastination is my main drawback in achieving my goal but that too needs to be taken care of as challenge . But I do not know. New year resolution does not work. Another thing that needs to be taken care of is trying to please everybody. This thing has also marred my life. I have lost great amount of money trying to please people who doesn't value me by buying expensive things in order to please them. I was always made to believe that doing good others brings goodness in return. But that too is not the right thing to do by empty our valuable money.

A lot I have learnt from this video. I can attest to No.2. Though I'm not a degree holder and in my early thirties, I have come to understand that life is all about learning. Today I can do things that even a degree holder come marvel at and say, " men, you are good, how did you come about this?" And I'm like to myself, "I am not even at the level that I want to be." The truth is that I kept learning since I had no means of obtaining a university degree. Today I'm a confident fellow who is still learning and will always keep learning.

While the points are valid, the comment about "If you're 75, then we're sorry" kind of shook me. My grandmother started painting at the age of 72. She is to turn 92 this year. So if you think people aren't capable of learning past a certain age, then you're very mistaken.

Depends what type of schooling your talking about, I personally think everyone should atleast finish high school even though most of the things we learn are useless, just finish it for the diploma just Incase you really need it at some point in your life, better than nothing, college on the other hand is not for everyone and there is many ways to become rich and financially successful without going to college. Plus most people that go to college end up with average jobs that sometimes they actually end up hating and don’t even make over 100k, your stuck paying all your debt also if you were not born into a rich family or didn’t get a scholarship.
@timelessmusicfamilymusic91755 жыл бұрын
@@rghdfhh5971 if your going to college, study hard & finish. Don't go & drop out, then have that hugh debt, which will take you forever to pay off. Yes, you're going to have hugh debt, either way. But, at least your odds(with a college degree) on getting that high paying job is much greater. It's better not going to college altogether than going & dropping out with student loans.

I have heard so much about what mistakes young people shouldn't make but I am a person who has never taken risks in my life and always stuck to the safe side. And my life, right now, is not in a good shape. I became a web developer a year ago when I was 20 years old, I have no college degree but I have my job. I just wanted to see if I could switch careers or something. I want to know what mistakes I CAN make. I hate feeling crippled by fear and always sticking to the safe side. :(
@rebeccaliew22475 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...when one is stuck too long at the safe side a.k.a. the comfort zone, it is usually because: 1. There's fear of disappointment, if the change you sought out didn't turn out as great as you have expected. 2. There's fear of rejection from yourself or other people. You want acceptance from important people in that change area, or you feel you cannot accept yourself if you fail. 3. There's insecurity that you don't have what it takes to handle the challenges. Have you listened to your fears & asked yourself how to overcome it? In your case, now that you know you want a career switch & trying to figure if it would be favourable to you... the solution is, have you researched what is that new career like for you? List out the pros & cons, and see if you can cope with the con parts, especially? Switching industries/career is riskier if you're in your 40s & onwards. 30s is still ok actually - you have new grounds to break, such as different set of skills needed for the job + new groups of people to connect with + have new life/work culture to adapt to. So long you have an open mind to give yourself a month at least to see how the new career change is like hands-on, you won't live with regrets later on during your 50s for not trying then. If during that one month, you can get the hang of the new career's nuances, for one, it would consequently help you connect better with colleagues (if you're bad in your job, colleagues & bosses will slowly alienate you). Two, it is a sign this is the change you can go for it & live with it for a long time. But...if that one month, you flounder everything during that probation time, the change may not be for you, but it will at least give you a sense of peace - that you did take a risk & grew wise from learning from mistakes & experiences. Comfort zones cannot teach you these. Think of Challenges/Mistakes as your Life Teachers :)

regina konga : There was a time in the United States, starting in the 1940s , strong Unions existed that bargained for the employees of corporations. Wages kept up with inflation and retirement benefits were guaranteed after a lifetime of work. Corporations depended on Local work force to produce their products under union contracts. This all changed when the Corporate bought the Congress and Senate of the United States. Under new laws, Corporation could move to foreign countries for cheaper labor. State “Right to Work Laws” weakened Unions. Job guarantees and retirement benefits disappeared. Only State, Federal, and Local government jobs continued to provide guaranteed retirement . I lived and seen this change in my lifetime.

I am 33 and I can easily say that finding your lifes purpose and saving money as well as investing smart is the most important thing you have to accomplish as a man. More important than love or even family, you really need to get out there and make your hands dirty, everything else will fall in place later.

I'm 27 and I stress daily about my life. With anxiety and depression it makes things 10 times worse. Any older people have extra advice?

Hi Neo. We are of the same group(am actually 28) but guess what,I am an immigrant (from Zimbabwe living in SA). I came to this country four years ago with nothing at all,no education credentials,no connections,no money.All I had was the desire to make my life better. I began my life in this complete new environment as a construction worker,doing tremendously hard work and was paid peanuts. Four years down the line I have managed to achieve many things,I now own a construction company employing 3 fellas,have two cars and I'm keeping on keeping on. All I want to say to you is life is a blessing not a plague. You have greatness within you and God is true.

I may know what you mean. I also dealt with depression a lot. It started because my parents were fighting. My father was an alcoholic. My mother wanted to split but I did not wanted to see them apart. She sacrificed and kept the relationship. That has actually led to major scars on me and her and my father. Though it was not constant fighting, it was never ending fighting. No matter what I did, I was not in control of it. I became sensitive and at school people noticed and started to bully me. I said nothing. That left even more scars. Then I went to college. I received a lot of money from my mother for graduating highschool. They would have helped me in college. But my grandfather, her father, had to go through surgery, and my father had a debt before he could close a safety equipment shop. Both amounted to about how much my mother gave me. I told them to use the money. She refused. Yet again, I could do nothing. I wanted that to change. I invested the money in a business and I lost all of them. I did not finish college. I started working and tried to finish college at same time. I failed over and over again because everything piled up. Each failure turned into a burden. I couldn't go to college and feel enthusiastic because of past experience. My first workplace was cheap and the boss was the yelling type. It all piled up to the point that I wanted to kill myself. I didn't though. About 10 months at that workplace and my first extra year failing to finish college I decided to quit that workplace. Just 1 month since i decided to quit I met a girl. She introduced me to a group of people who did workout and nutrition. I joined them for a while. It was fine. I was actually getting better and the collective was encouraging. I got a new job which was also similar. And started my second attempt to finish college. Despite the atmosphere changing at work and with the addition of that circle, I could not get over my failure from the college. I made some progress towards finishing it, but could not devote completely to succeed. I got very close to that girl. Unfortunately she had a boyfriend. We were really good friends and I never tried to get in between them. I was thankful for what she did for me so on her birthday I thought of somthing to do and to say to her to remind her of the little things and the happy moments we shared together. Her boyfriend was also present while this happened. All went well untill close to the end. I had planned to do one more thing but it required for me to hug her 3 times. Details are not important. But the boyfriend tried to stop me and said he becomes jealous. I didn't really had to but I left them. The prospect of conflict with them was too much when they helped me so much. Then I got to my third workplace. I met another girl, a coleague, she was married but she reminded me so much of the workout girl. We ended up becoming best friends and somehow eased the burden of going away from that place that made me happy. It all went well untill I had to leave that workplace too. I went back to my second, and there I met the third girl. She was not in a relationship. I was hoping we might get together. The thing is, on her birthday, what I did and said made workout girl cry of happiness. And married woman coleague felt that she can trust me completely. I am amazing at being a good friend. But with the third, something happened. I was too afraid to ask her to be in a relationship with me. The fear that we might break up triggered the same fear I had when I thought my parents would have to break up. I was afraid of starting a relationship because I was afraid I will feel the same pain I felt with my parents. And although I was not aware of it at the time, it is also the reason I explicitly avoided a relationship with 3 different girls durring school. Some coleagues told me they like me and when I learned it, I started to avoid them. And I had no ideea why. I got close to the third girl and we somehow became friends. But she never got to see the real me. The me the other two saw. And I feel like dying because of it. I love her so much. I think of her every day. But she doesn't feel the same. In fact, I am younger (26) than her (31) and she sais she is tired of younger people asking her out and tired of people seeing her as their wife after they just met. And yet I would do anything just to spend the rest of my life with her. Now I had to leave that workplace where I could interact with her so I can finally finish college (I saved money so I can do it) and find a way to build a stable future for me and the chance to have a relationship. Despite delaying it for almost 20 years my mother finally decided that it is not worth to stay with my father. And this time I am not going to be in the say. I know why my father turned out to be the way he is and I do not regret wanting for us to be a family. I do regret that my parents could never work together and help eachother. They only really fighted. There is really nothing I can do but push forward. I remember those important people in my life that brought me happiness. Each day I spent with them I noted on my laptop the interactions. I noted all the important things that made me happy. I still note them sometimes. And it somehow helped me. It reminded me that there are still some things worth living for. My mother pushed herself through all the struggle and all the pain and finally got a leadership position. She was able to buy me an apartment in the capital (I did not grew up there) and helped me as much as she could. Because of her not giving up and getting that position (a position that normally requires superior studies which she never had the chance to study for yet still got the position). For all the sacrifices she made for me and for all the people I have met. I decided not to quit. But to move forward. And I decided not to stuggle with hopeless causes. If workplace is not suitable for me, I will find a different one. If family is the problem I will not get in their way. If relationship is the problem i will be patient and I will do the things I am good at and get better at the things I am not. I have been alone for so long. If the woman I love wants me to just be friends, I will do so rather than keep being alone. Despite that it hurts, despite not being what I want, I take heart on those days I make her smile or make her reply back to me. I do these things to keep me going. I have been alone for so long. I can't be alone anymore. I can't sleep without the tv being on. I can't stay in my apartment without the tv on. And I can't always make the best decisions that will set me on the path of happiness. There are days that I'm just wasting. And yet I won't quit. I want to. I sometimes feel that I live for nothing. That this life is worthless. But I also know that there are others who have it worse. I know that there are others who are not in control of their life. And I know that some of them just push themselves and try to make things better. I know, because one of them is my mother. And I want that some that I can bring happiness to stranger. They way strangers have brought happiness to me. And I want that one day I can be reunited with the people I left behind. The people that made me happy when I needed it most. And that I want to somehow return the favor. I am sorry that I am younger than you. I know you wanted an answer for an older person. All I can tell you is to focus more on the good things and less on the bad things. It will at least ballance the awareness of the good and the bad that happens in your life. And do all you can to remember the good things. Write them down, audio record them, make a video and keep them. You don't have to watch them again and again. You just have to see that they grow in number over time. That you always add one more thing and another and another. It's a good thing to set a call recorder on your phone as well. And just saves those recordings as well. Good or bad. It helps. I hope you will have the patience to read. And I hope this will help you. I don't know the causes for your anxiety and depression. If it doesn't, than try to find your own way to help yourself. What I told you to do, I came up with on my own. Based on the experiences I had. And to keep track of everything. All the good things. Even the money you make, spend and your savings. All the things that make you feel you accomplish something. Good luck.

Sadly, educaters are more interested in teaching students what to think these days(feminism, global warming, social justice) instead of teaching them how to think for themselves, to think critically. I'm grateful I grew up in a time and place where I was taught to question and find truth. The truth is not subjective! Just our perspective.
