When it comes to shipping items I always ship next day. I found that it was easier to just gather all the sold items that day and send it out all at once PLUS that the buyer can not cancel the item. Since it’s past the 3 hour window. I almost had a close call on a rather expensive item where the buyer literally cancelled the order as I was driving to the post office.

I agree with all of these! I'm finding two of the best strategies (for me at least as a new part time Poshmark seller) are 1) have at least 1-2 new listings per day and 2) share my closet during the last Poshmark Party (10pm my time). I feel like I get way more traffic on my page in the evenings, because more people are shopping then and you get the west coast shoppers too. I'm like you, I only post items that I love/would wear, and I like having a closet curated to my style. This has been helpful for me because I've had repeat shoppers to my closet who like my style. Thanks for the video!
@HannahAlonzo4 жыл бұрын
mathesonk10 I agree with your strategies as well! Listing (or relisting) every day is super important and I totally think sharing to the evening party is beneficial! People loveeee to shop at night for some reason. Thank you for sharing!

Agreed, also you need 5,000 shares to other people’s closet to be an ambassador! I used to do way to much sharing of peoples closets, I only do it a few times a day, also I disagree on the following people, the more people I follow the more likes and sales I get, I have been doing it this week like crazy and it’s turning into sales

Makes no sense. I havn't watched the vid yet I'm about to. Here's the thing-- Posh stat's show 90% of all sales are from DIRECT SEARCHES. When you share somebody's item's, it ONLY gets them to the feed. TEN % CHANCE of getting a sale. Sharing you own item's takes them where you want them to be for those Direct Searches, which is at the top of the brand category folder for that item. You guys are having coincidence's! Lol

As a Poshmark buyer I cannot stress how important measurements are. I wear an extra large. An extra large bust size can go anywhere from 39 to 45 ". If I don't see measurements now, I don't buy. Also, people listing don't know whether it's a juniors or a woman's. There is a difference in sizing. The other thing is if someone has a 100% cotton shirt that they have washed and dried to list, the bust line will be smaller at that point.
@oliviaortiz51573 жыл бұрын
Call me silly but I didn't know that🤔 I am also extra large bust and have a little bit of a hard time with the peak point shirts/tops 🤣 those bottoms won't close or fit correctly even on large sizes☺️🤭🤭
@adrianne02033 жыл бұрын
I def skip listings that dont have measurements. I have found when I ask questions about measurements, responses are not prompt or given at all, and by that time I have moved on and found something else. When the seller finally responds I just say thank you, thats helpful information for the next person who would be interested but I found something else. I include measurements in all my listings and rarely I get questions asking about a different kind of measurement such as leg opening, how wide arms are, how big is the neck opening...but I feel like with not getting questions satisfies the customer searching the items. 😊

When you share someone's closet the hope is that they share yours back. This puts your items in front of new eyes is what I understand. For new people to see your items is always good. In my opinion, others sellers don't buy items from other sellers very much. Most of my sales seem to be made to people who are on the app as buyers only.

Great video! Back in the day sharing other people's listings and gaining followers was actually a real benefit to making sales as the feed was more utilized in the earlier days of Poshmark. But you are totally right that those things don't mean as much now. I would love if Poshmark just did away with the feed and turned that part of the app into something helpful or interesting. Maybe recommended listings or Posh Stories (the new video feature) - that would be super cool. Anyways, looking forward to more content from you - Subscribed!!

Yes... and yes lol I started Poshmark around the same time and made these same exact mistakes. I'm still working on not sourcing fancy SOUNDING labels, and trying to learn what actually sells! Ive just made the realization about the relisting, and plan to start doing that regularly. I do wonder about the followers, though. I look at the people who make multiple sales a day and wonder if it's the number of followers they have or the number of items that makes the difference. I think it's also the caliber of items they have as well. I gotta find some good sourcing honey holes! Great list :)
@HannahAlonzo4 жыл бұрын
Sarah Smith Thanks for watching! I do definitely think that the more items you have for sale, the more sales you’re going to make. These closets have taken a long time to grow and accumulate followers as well, but I’m tempted to say that it’s not the followers that bring those closets sales, it’s the hundreds of listings they have! ❤️ I think anyone’s time is better spent listing or relisting than it is following people

So I know this is an old vid but I share things that I might buy later but I don’t want to like at that time (because then I’ll get reminders about it every time it drops in price and that annoys me even though it shouldn’t). So I just go back to my shares every so often and see if there’s anything there that I still want to bite on and buy if it hasn’t sold after some time. I use Poshmark very passively and I still make sales fairly often so I do agree the following, resharing others closets, etc. is a bit pointless. Thankfully there’s bots for that now but I’m still too lazy to download any of those lol. ANYWAY, great vid, even a couple years later. Thank you for it!

So on point with the number of followers - as you stated it does not matter and those begging for followers or "follow cards or games" just get ignored by me and many others, ---- many people just shop and that is how I make sales and these shoppers are only on the app to find a specific item/s and not follow unless they find a closet they really consider a great match for things they need. -------------- Also, please do not get me started on "share groups" - what I have found is that these are people with too much time on their hands and have seen them go very negative, and a sort of sad social activity for those individuals, and to that I say, if you need interaction with others on that deep of a level go to Facebook or text each other: I am on Posh to sell and yes I like to find similar sellers and will share when I am inspired by a closet to do so, and have the time otherwise it really from what I have seen makes NO difference in sales. (i.e. my experience before I got out of that share group nonsense: one day in a share group I was one of the featured closets, and it was even a wk end so about 15-20 people shared 10 items to 20 items and NO SALES, No LIKES, NO NOTHING, in fact I wondered if it was jogging the algorithm in a negative manner somehow. The share groups I have seen again are little social clubs with too many rules and negativity and unneeded disparaging comments or negative comments - you are again correct on the sharing others items and I would especially state that "share groups" are a major time suck and can be full of negative energy.

Mathematics has exactly nothing to do with this. When you share another person’s listing, it goes to the “feed”. It does not go to the top of search results. You saying that it’s reaching “however many followers they have” is assuming that other people’s followers are scrolling through their “feed” looking at listings. Trust me, nobody goes to the news feed to look for things to buy 😂 They only search for things to buy in the search bar. I’m 3 months into an experiment that proves this. I’m going to continue for a couple more months and then make a video sharing the results. I haven’t shared another person’s listing in over a year and I still make daily sales.

Point number 9... this reminded me of my mom who did flea markets for many years where she also sold lots of clothes (mostly stuff that she got almost for free from house clearances etc) and I remember one time I saw her having sooo many suit jackets from Hugo Boss and I was like: Oh wow, these must get a lot of attention, how much you asking for them? - well, she didn't ask more than 5 Euro per jacket, sometimes even less, because... yeah... nobody wants them, haha. Which was such a surprise for me, because they retail for several hundreds... yeah.

Very helpful. What do you do when you counter on someone's lowball offer and they come back with the very same lowball offer? Personally I never look at the feed, but I do look at who follows me and when I want to randomly browse, I click on a new follower's closet from my NEWS link. I actually do this more often than using the search. Thinking of the psychology of PM, when my phone is blowing up because some new follower is sharing a dozen of my items, I go look at their closet. It helps to think about how we use the app, how we respond to that stuff because anything that gets eyes on your closet is potential. The best tip from this video for me was the one about re-listing stale items. I have over 1k items and often leave the stale items for sharing about once a week. THanks!
@HannahAlonzo3 жыл бұрын
When someone keeps countering back with the same lowball, I always hold steady at my lowest price. I still never decline. I’ve gone back and forth like 15 times with someone where we both weren’t budging and she declined 🤷🏼♀️ I always counter back at my very lowest and I stick to it

Followers actually do improve sales. Not by a super large %, but I’ve scrolled through the feed and have noticed a few things that I thought about buying. And I’ve experienced sudden bursts of activity from following people. There are tricks to followers that really help. There’s a reason those that are most successful have very large amounts of followers.
@King-of-The-World4 жыл бұрын
It also improved your look of credibility. If you go to someone page and see 5K followers and has been active for a year vs. someone with 50K followers that has been active for the same time. You by nature will associate a more trusting view on the more popular person on a subconscious level. Whether you want to or not.

Diane Schultz That’s great! I have never experienced that but I’m glad it works for you 😊

I also notice that when I’m sharing others closets from my share groups when I’m done I go to my feed and I have a ton of new activity. I haven’t done any experiments to know if any of my sales have come from any of that activity but I definitely get more activity when I’m sharing others closets every single time.

I know many may disagree but I believe there is a computer algorithm at play on Poshmark. I've noticed if you decline, which I've done once or twice or if there is a delay shipping my likes & sales slowed down.

Thank you or this!!! I hate all the sharing..I wake up to 500 shares a day and I have to sort thru the offers and likes and its so time consuming. I wish there was a way to have no one share your closet hahah

Do you ever use Copy? It’s fairly new but when I copy, I get 2 more copies of the same listing. Come to think of it, when a potential buyer sees that the listing is a copy, they know it did not sell previously...
@HannahAlonzo4 жыл бұрын
I do occasionally use the copy feature! I always delete the word “copy” from the listing title though so potential buyers don’t see that it is a copied listing. I only use the copy feature if the listing has been active for over 60 days because in that case, it will appear in the “just in” category on Poshmark just like a brand new fresh listing. If the listing has been listed for less than 60 days, it doesn’t appear as “just in” so for these, I copy over the photos and description manually. Hope that helps!

I was like imma watch this but I bet I don't make any of these mistakes and get to the first one and am like what? I always share other peoples items cause Poshmark said to lol. So I had an original Poshmark account about 4-5 years ago (became a posh ambassador)and deleted it for personal reasons (wish I kept it). I made a new account in 2020 . So I've been making this mistake for a while lol. Pretty sure there's more I'm making. Gonna finish watching.

Hi, have you found if it’s better to lay the measuring tape out on the pictures or list the actual measurements? Thanks!

When people share like 50 of my items, I wanna say, "dude, stop. It means nothing for you." LOL I stopped sharing others like a year ago. This is my 3rd year Poshing. I made all of these mistakes and stopped wasting time.

Thrift stores, buy-sell-trade stores, and sometimes clearance sections at retail stores 😊

You are so totally accurate in your video. It's all in the process of live and learn. As a buyer, at present, I had a deal this am whereby the person selling a nice handbag. Automatically, dropped her price to 60.00 to start. The deal went back and forth with the end of the deal coming within 6.00 of her counteroffer, and she wouldn't accept. So she lost 54.00 and still stuck with the bag. All because she wouldn't accept 54.00, so in the end I declined my offer and pulled the plug on a Poshmark seller, who didn't have the foresight or brains to accept. She was happy she said, with her price of 60.00 and I wrote back I'm happy with mine as I got a far better bag than hers and for less. This is an old adage "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Also, I'd like to hear about this new video that you are going to make. Have a good day Hannah!!!
