I’ve been following you since Jackson was born! I have a daughter 2 months younger than him. Your videos got me through some pretty dark days. I am so grateful for you and your honesty. You are such a good mama and you have a beautiful family.

Jackson eats so well and looks so healthy and chunky that you would never think he is underweight! He doesn’t look skinny or anything! My first baby Raelyn is 3 and half years old and my second baby Zion is now seven months and we were also told that he was not gaining enough weight last month! He is 17.6 pounds though so we are just keeping in mind he could do with some more weight but not stressing about it coz he doesn’t look slim or anything!

My little girl is so clumsy she was alway falling back at that age , I was a Nevers mess on edge all the time, but I invested in the little backpack custions to protect her head if she fell back .one of the best things I got for her. She 13 months now and I still use it brilliant for when they start walking

We use a good scale to make sure our lil is getting enough solids (4 oz of solids) vs purées - it’ll give you peace of mind!

Hey Kayla! Greeting from Bulgaria 🇧🇬 My baby is 8 months now and is eating 160 ml purée or 5.4 oz and after 30 min to an hour he drinks 120-140 ml breast milk ( 4-5 oz). I also put some formula in his food where I normally put milk like in his cereal 🥣 or his creams for afternoon meal. I think your portion is a little too small compared to what my paediatrician is telling me for my baby. He is 19.8 pounds and 28.7 inches. And about the quantity of solids for one meal purée I put 20 grams of meat and 100 grams of vegetables. Then I use some olive oil and broth from the steaming and I blend it. That makes 150-160 gr of purée. 😇

This is my first time commenting, but I love y’all’s channel! I’ve been watching for almost a year. My son is almost exactly a month younger than Jackson, so it’s great having you guys to watch and see what you’re doing for Jackson. My son is going through a similar issue with weight. His growth curve with weight has been close to Jackson, around 15-17% but at 2 months he was in the 50%. His pediatrician isn’t worried at this point because she said it looks like his curve is evening out, but I do want to maintain his weight by adding more fats in his solids because I pump and he only drinks about 20-24oz a day. He used to drink 32-36oz/day until about 2 months ago.

If you are using the Gerber stage 2 foods, they tell you how much of each ingredient is in it. Such as the gerber turkey rice has 1/8 cup vegetables 2 tsp turkey and 1 1/2 tbsp cooked mixed grains. All of their stage 2 purées have that on top of their package.

Hey Kayla. Jackson looks great! You probably already know this, but girls are just more verbal. It's the way their brains are made. I enjoy learning about you, your children, your husband, and your whole family! I'll say this one more time - relax! You've got this. :-)

I would suggest you to make a lot of freezer baby friendly muffins/mini casserole/mini salmon quiche for him to eat himself instead of puree for BLW! It’s still packed of good amount of food but he can grab it better to feed himself and he would enjoy being an independent eater :) oh and feeding him avocado is also great source to a healthy fat!

So glad he’s back on track! Still waiting for my 7.5 mo to crawl or even get a tooth but he does say Dada and Mama. When did you start feeding Jackson 3 meals a day? I currently only feed my son breakfast and dinner with sometimes a snack in between, we’re doing a BLW and purée combo like you guys. He definitely doesn’t have a problem with his weight (he was 18lbs 14oz at his 6mo appt) but I’m thinking about starting 3 solid meals a day so I was just curious when you started.

For teething: I don't know if you have this in the States but if you can find anbesol I HIGHLY recommend it! My baby girl has 6 teeth now and once we started using it we haven't needed Tylenol at all! Whenever it seemed like she was teething I just rubbed a little on her gums whenever she was fussy and just before bed.

They all throw themselves backward sometimes because they do not evaluate at this age where they are and will it be safe, like it is on a sofa or in the highchair. If it happens enough, he will learn to be more careful. He's a baby yet. He has to figure these things out. And they all grumble or make like a screech owl when you take something from them that they wanted to play with or investigate. Tough luck. They have to be safe and they cannot be allowed to play with things that are not their toys, like someone's phone, computer, jewelry, chess set, etc. Like pets, they cannot distinguish between an old shoe and a new shoe, so dogs cannot be allowed to chew on old shoes or slippers because they will not discriminate. Likewise, children are not yet capable of discriminating, so have to be told certain things are off limits or for adults only or just plain unsafe. You need to teach them that because they have to be able to begin to discriminate on their own for when they are not with you. However, you still have to watch them like a hawk. If you are strict enough with certain rules, you can abandon the helicopter parenting that is not good for them either. You didn't know you were going to have to be an accomplished highwire walker and trapeze artist when you reproduced, did you? Thought that pregnancy and birthing were the hard part? Jackson will be fine. His chubb now has a bit more chubb, so he's got some padding for the winter's greater calorie needs. I've been telling you he needs table food. Pouches are good for walkabout or car ride snacks when you don't want them making a mess. Whole milk is crucial until they are at least age 3 or almost school age, so don't change that until you check with a pediatrician. Their brains are still developing at such a pace that they need the fats in their diet. And up until age 2 that's hugely from milk. But he needs somewhat larger pieces of food as he gets more teeth. He has to be good at masticating and his bowels et al need to be functioning on gravity and solids along with proper hydration. If he doesn't get the satisfaction of actually chomping into his food, because the pieces are so tiny he can barely taste them, then he will lose the progress he made with solids. They do go through picky periods and come out of them. Just ride it out. They may not like tomato sauces, but love fresh tomatoes. It's all good and subject to fluctuations. Just keep giving him things to try and share mealtimes with him and don't put any negative food notions in his head. He is not going to be happy with everything at every moment and that is part of real life. He has to learn to handle his frustrations, as does Riley and as do we all. LOL. At his age, you can safely leave a wubbanub pacifier in his crib with him to suck or play with. You need to give pet-like commands to the kids. NO BITING. Be loud and clear. NO HITTING. Do not sugar coat it with a whole sentence and make it seem like you are asking Riley to comply. It is a command. He cannot go to daycare if he bites nor can she if she isn't potty-trained. Bites that break skin can be dangerous from humans, not simply by dogs. You can't afford to give them the impression that you are unsure of your authority or behavior standards. I think he said Mama, but who knows. Hard to tell. He'll get there. He is being verbal with all the sounds he makes. He's been talkative since very early on. We just can't make out words.

He does little finger foods and purees. I have huge frozen milk supply at my fridge want to use most of them before they expire, tell me how? I give him with cereal as a snack but its just 4oz .he doesn't like much of solids as well. How to make him fatter
